Squarerig, you have pleasures yet to find. This one of their best, but only one of them. Every member of the band is performing at his best, plus the understated humour of this song.
Squarerig - Planxty were a traditional Irish music group who transformed the Irish music scene in the 70s - I saw them several times then and was aware they were doing something unique. Since then we've had the Bothy Band, Patrick Street, Altan, and many others, but Planxty were the true leaders.
@palund Yep!They are one of a kind. What can you say about Christy Moore's way with a song?He can make an ordinary song something delightful to hear.Listen to him sing Little Musgrave but I bet you know that already!I saw him perform at the Beacon Theatre in Manhattan's Upper West Side in the early '90s ( I think)
First saw Planxty in Bradford in 1975 and recently Christy Moore at the Liverpool Irish Festival on a couple of occasions.Christy Moore is the Michaelangelo of Irish Music, Bejasus!
Carry on Planxty !
