I don't have a copy of John singing Killing the Blues but there is a video of JP singing that on yt already. Just put /watch?v=msdSpM7b5cI in the search field above.
@frankymideer ... i listen to all john prine... my you tube contains so much variety... thank you for your kind words... one day.. i will learn how to post a video... and till then... i will watch you tube for more music... i don't watch much tv... because the music.. ahh the music... can pick you, lift you up, make you dance, and in the end... you just listen...to them sing :)
great song from a brilliant country singer, hugely underrated! saw him live at newcastle city hall some yearsback and he was awesome playing with a support after rescheduling the gig due to breaking his arm. great guy, luv his music!
While working in Columbus, Indiana, I often played this song on the jukebox down the street at the Moose Lodge. I just couldn't get enough of this song, often parking myself right in front of the jukebox so that I could hear it better.
I said it before but I will say it again; this is a real Kick Ass Jammin' song;great to hear anywhere. John Prine rates right up there with the finest there ever was. He is simply The Best.
Great clip. John Prine is able to make you look at life as it is to the core of your soul.
I first heard him on a public access radio station one night while passing through Memphis, TN. I was amazed that his music was so great, but not featured on main stream broadcasting much. I have been fan ever since.
@jboric02 it's one of the cars he owns and has owned since the early 80's at least, there was a documentary where they rode in it during the interview,
we love you John......you are simply without description one of the best that ever was or will be........long life to you my friend....keep the great music comin'
John Prine reminds me of my old friend Brian Brown who passed on in 2008. Brian loved JP and his music. Brian wrote and sung lots of songs( Junk Yard Dogs Band) until his tragic accident left him scarred and disabled . However, he forced himself to play the guitar again and was able to make fine music on his acoustic guitar. Brian has passed on, ending his suffering from pancreatic cancer but never stopped his love for music.
two of my favorites song wrighters together i had no idea and ive been fans of both for at least 20 years... goin to see petty in may and prine in april..
Kushtravels, have you checked out Ozark Mountain Daredevils? A little different style, but good down home great musicians with positive message music that is awesome. Please check them out, its worth it.
@kushtravels23 theres NOTHING that sounds or reminds me of john prine..only JP! if you are trying to listen to some new bands try Todd Snider, Robert Earl Keen, Jimi Dale Gilmore. Than Band
Anytime anyone asks a personal question of you, it's a loss.
That's why an interview is tough no matter if you are a superstar or not.
It's tough being a human no matter how you look at it. No getting around it. No way. And if there is, I want to sign up right now without becoming a religous zealot. They don't look too happy.
John Prine has been a part of my life since 1976. He's like an old friend that you never forget, no matter how long it's been since you saw them last. His music has served as the background for many of my most important memories in my life. I'll probably ask my family to play his music at my funeral when my time comes. John, you've done good, old friend.
I was introduced to john's music in early seventies by my friend Norm Tobin.Norm's brother in-law had just about every album going and had great taste in a varity of different types of music.Considered myself very fortunate to be influenced with all these great singer song writers.Needless to say I am a fan.
I'm 40 and first heard John's music in the early 1980's while watching Austin City Limits. Damn good stuff. This song is one of my favorite John Prine songs.
What a Jammin' tune this song is! I had the chance to see him in the Fall of 2001 but I did not go and I regret it to this day. I have been following John Prine since I was a kid and he is simply the best. Thanks for posting this langsense.
Two thanks are due - one to you for posting such a great song (he looks fine in this as a bonus), and the other that Big Boy Records - the label John owns - have not chosen to take this down off of the site.
Tom Petty and John Prine were great together, The song and the scenery was just right for the person it was sang for .wished they could do more...you two rock together...thanks for the real stuff....
Sound-synching is off, video is cheap and low budget, but hey that's why I love John Prine. He's raw, the real deal, and knows what sounds good. Prine in 2009!
I just played and sang "Pease don't bury me at my nephews' funeral. It suited him well.
