  • grew up listenin to John Prine...Thanks mom!

  • While working in Columbus, Indiana, I often played this song on the jukebox down the street at the Moose Lodge. I just couldn't get enough of this song, often parking myself right in front of the jukebox so that I could hear it better.

  • Simply, splendid.

  • 20 sec timeout - that's Tom Petty right? if not, please explain

  • @lulem400 You are right. All the Heartbreakers played on this song.

  • I said it before but I will say it again; this is a real Kick Ass Jammin' song;great to hear anywhere. John Prine rates right up there with the finest there ever was. He is simply The Best.

  • ive been listing to john prine since i was 8 years old im 35 now and i still think he is the best. thanks for posting this video

  • Great clip. John Prine is able to make you look at life as it is to the core of your soul.

I first heard him on a public access radio station one night while passing through Memphis, TN. I was amazed that his music was so great, but not featured on main stream broadcasting much. I have been fan ever since.

  • One of the alltime great songs from one of the alltime great songwriters, and Tom Petty's there too!HELL YEAH!

  • this is great!! thanks for posting!

  • There's another video here titled "Bruised Orange" from 1980. I swear, he's driving the same car that appears in this video.

  • @jboric02 it's one of the cars he owns and has owned since the early 80's at least, there was a documentary where they rode in it during the interview,

  • saw him a few years back in sydney nova scotia canada he put on a great show

  • we love you John......you are simply without description one of the best that ever was or will be........long life to you my friend....keep the great music comin'

  • John Prine reminds me of my old friend Brian Brown who passed on in 2008. Brian loved JP and his music. Brian wrote and sung lots of songs( Junk Yard Dogs Band) until his tragic accident left him scarred and disabled . However, he forced himself to play the guitar again and was able to make fine music on his acoustic guitar. Brian has passed on, ending his suffering from pancreatic cancer but never stopped his love for music.

  • two of my favorites song wrighters together i had no idea and ive been fans of both for at least 20 years... goin to see petty in may and prine in april..

  • does anyone know any other folk singers/bands that remind you of Prine?

  • Kushtravels, have you checked out Ozark Mountain Daredevils? A little different style, but good down home great musicians with positive message music that is awesome. Please check them out, its worth it.

  • @kushtravels23 theres NOTHING that sounds or reminds me of john prine..only JP! if you are trying to listen to some new bands try Todd Snider, Robert Earl Keen, Jimi Dale Gilmore. Than Band

  • @kushtravels23 Roger Miller, Bob Dylan

  • John Prine ist ganz einfach super !!!!!

  • Anytime anyone asks a personal question of you, it's a loss.

That's why an interview is tough no matter if you are a superstar or not.

It's tough being a human no matter how you look at it. No getting around it. No way. And if there is, I want to sign up right now without becoming a religous zealot. They don't look too happy.

  • I was introduced to Prine in Infantry OSUT trainig in 1988 by a firend; Clint S.

Been a fan ever since. he captures the essence of militay life with several of his songs. And my wife cant stand im which makes it better.

  • John Prine has been a part of my life since 1976. He's like an old friend that you never forget, no matter how long it's been since you saw them last. His music has served as the background for many of my most important memories in my life. I'll probably ask my family to play his music at my funeral when my time comes. John, you've done good, old friend.

  • Amen to that! I, too, would like his songs played at my service. That's a perfect send off from my time here on earth.

  • I've been a PRINE fan since the mid 70s....that's a LONG time!!

    John is the best...

  • I was introduced to john's music in early seventies by my friend Norm Tobin.Norm's brother in-law had just about every album going and had great taste in a varity of different types of music.Considered myself very fortunate to be influenced with all these great singer song writers.Needless to say I am a fan.

  • a lovely song i would just go for a drive to listen allso try jhon prine youve got gold fab song to @ //////////////@

  • john, we just disagree.

  • Will be seeing John Prine in Toronto tonight!

  • I'm 40 and first heard John's music in the early 1980's while watching Austin City Limits. Damn good stuff. This song is one of my favorite John Prine songs.

  • Great song !! I seen John live in concert in 2006 in Edmonton, Alberta. Truely great talent, from the early years right to this day.

  • your darlin jim is out on a limb put my picture in a picture in a picyure show!!!!

  • What a Jammin' tune this song is! I had the chance to see him in the Fall of 2001 but I did not go and I regret it to this day. I have been following John Prine since I was a kid and he is simply the best. Thanks for posting this langsense.

  • Two thanks are due - one to you for posting such a great song (he looks fine in this as a bonus), and the other that Big Boy Records - the label John owns - have not chosen to take this down off of the site.

John Prine - everyone's best kept secret...

  • My pleasure... and I think JP's official site actually links to this video. So I'm hoping it's safe here.

  • Its not too late to let the secret out. Thanks!

  • @Robutube1 dude its Oh Boy Records...but you were right about jp kicking ass...

  • is it a joint?

  • It is a shame that there are many talented singers like this that should have been huge.

  • Tom Petty and John Prine were great together, The song and the scenery was just right for the person it was sang for .wished they could do more...you two rock together...thanks for the real stuff....

  • Cool. 1991, I think.

  • Sound-synching is off, video is cheap and low budget, but hey that's why I love John Prine. He's raw, the real deal, and knows what sounds good. Prine in 2009!

  • i really like john prine but what is he doing with a guy like Tom Petty...TP doesn't look like a low budget to me...

    great song though...

  • Ur crazy man Tom Petty rocks!

  • Tom Petty rules...and is clearly influenced by John Prine.

  • Damn, damn good jammin song

  • love it...

  • simply the best

  • A great duet with two great voices. I used to drink with Prine at the Blue Bird cafe and I

didn't even know he was a songwriter/singer- just a nice guy.

  • love this song

  • excellent song! I gotta hear more from john prine

  • What year was this?

  • the album was released in 1991.
