The Beatles got their start imitating Motown girl groups. It was their one truly BIG innovation. Once they could do those harmonies, the rest was easy.
Not really. The beatles where mainly emulating the 50's rockers like Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, Bill Hayley, Elvis etc whilst serving their musical apprenticeship in Hamburg(circa '61 '62)but no doubt the girl groups played their part once they had already gained a following.
i am more familiar with the beatles cover,
but I like it this one too.
