I'm black and filipino but I still got curly hair so this is what you do. 1st relax it use a s-curl it will actualy make your hair straighter than the just for me one with less time and no damage. Then straighten it and it will be equivalent to an emo hair then just style. P.s. If you straighten a lot just buy a moisturiser to put on your hair when you sleep so your hair won't start breaking off or stop growing. Hope that helps

as i didnt finishing the comment here's good tips. make sure your hair is all straight and dry looking, no curls or gravity curving the hair down in case of spikes. For startes cut the back of the hair shorter to make it easier to elevate the hair, in the front use straightener and gel or spray and dry hair till it looks all dried up and straight.

But like i say you choose your style whether spiky or down do what makes you happy bro and best of lucks =)

haha it's funny because In have the same case and I'm spanish lol, last year of HS and now i have "emo" hairstyle spiked up.

As i do mine i recommend use a straightener for the front and move it to the side i do it criss angel syle in the front, in the back cut it shorter to spike it up with gel or spray, now make sure the spiked are straight and not curly or falling or that's a fail lol trust me. I recommend strong gel or spray a straightener and blow dryer. That's my story and advice
