  • Hey- There's no way the guy holding the fly rod was actuallyt hooked to that blue marlin- the fish is running and he's palming the reel holdingf the rod with one hand- right total fake- fake fake fake. I have fly fished tuna/stripers etc andf have caught a Blue Marlin (526 pounds) off Kona on trolling gear. I believe/know that blue marlin can be caught with a fly rod but this particuklar video is just total BS

  • real deal... old man doesn't make it look it pretty and i wouldn't be submitting this as a world record but no fake. come on down and give it a try i'll comp you a day

  • @dclaytonwilliams theres only been about 30 marlin caught on fly that have been borded

  • @dclaytonwilliams hahah ur funny. Happens all the time dude, check the angling records before you post ur stupidity

  • Jeremy, don't sweat the haters. Folks this is the real deal, for those of you who think this is not possible you need to check out the IGFA record books. BlueMarlin have fallen to 8lb tippits on the flyrod.

  • a sweeet china cat sunflower.... grateful dead. man what a bummer it was disabled. jerry would have been cool with it. caught a lot of fish rippping dead tunes..

  • dood nice fish

  • a question: HOW????? line numbers 100000000000 and fishing stick for 10000000lbs

  • beautiful song!!!

  • damn hippies!!!!! my favorite part of the song comes when it ends!!

  • Peace Brother! Jerry Lives!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how the hell is this considered fly fishing..looks more like trolling using a fly rod

  • Nice vid and GRATE music!!!!!!!!! Nothin I love more than fishing and listening to the Dead!!!

  • niceee fishh!!!! you did a awsome job with the fly gear

  • ARE you serious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • why are you fly fishing in the ocean

  • ur stupid and u should die psufan5897

  • great tunes, dont hear that much anymore, cant berat fishing and the dead.

  • what the hell fly do u use to catch marlin??

  • great song i love the grateful dead

  • everyone go back to clown town.

ever heard of 15 wt fly rods? i have.

large arbor reels that take a kilometer of backing? once again, i have.

bait and switch? didn't our founding father Lefty come up with that? yep, he did.

all necessary gear/ techniques to take billfish on the fly

  • Big Jumps! Looks Great!

  • IT WOULDA SPOOLED U QUICKSMART MATE

  • wrong. short top shot of lead core to cast and more than 1,200 yards of 30lb micronite backing. don't use the whole fly line. takes up to much room for backing on the spool as well as creating to much drag in the water on the tippet. years of doing this to perfect the rig.

  • IT WOULDA SPOOLED U QUICKSMART MATE

  • you need to shut the hell up.

  • So how come we didn't see the fish being landed? You absolutely did not have that fish on that fly rod... who do you think you're fooling? And... just what is the point?

  • best fish in the world... also funnest to catch 2.... give u a good challenge

  • This video, your cast (or child toss), your friends and your comments are pitiful. It is doubtful you filmed the marlin jumping. two different cameras were used. You are a disgrace to fishing and film making.

  • wrong again. was no "film making" going on. the old mans son had a video camera and did a great job. my friend knew how to edit it and how to lay the sweet jerry track.

  • Jerry never faked it

  • the only reason i have to check the email i get when people post is because of you jokers. if it wasn't the real deal my peers would call me out.

  • Total fake, look at the rod, it barelly bends when fish took it... sky colour differences, the man holding the rod seemed very relaxed, like he cought a 1 pound trout. lol, what a shame to call yourself a captain

  • it never showed him catching it with a fly rod.. fake...

  • nice catch

  • Why kill the fish???Also to call this Flyfishing or Marlin is gross. The teasers i to be out of water and the boat out of neutral but not out at 15 knot o you can troll fly for another 40yd.Call it what it is TROLLING THE FLY-This is not flyfishing it is dragging a fly.Call it Marlin on a fly rod.BIG DEAL.Try it with boat stopped teaser in then you are doing it right! Also the Marlin tires much faster dragging a fly line around.Nice fish-good for the guy but IT IS APPLES AND ORANGES.

    w

  • Nobody trolling at 15 knots star. As of now we just fish to IGFA standards. That way things are equal for all customers. They come to catch fish, we gave them the IGFA rules and they said sounds good. That way when they get home they can say they caught, 1, 2, 3, whatever. If you want to come down and free cast to them. Stop the boat and cast 40 ft, etc. That would be great. I never dis swayed a customer from trying different techniques.

  • Problem is 99% are recreational anglers, on vacation, looking to fish and have fun. We were not out there to debate the merits and definition of what fly fishing is or not. Are you a person who says moder art is not art too? Bottom line is we have a plan and execute it. The angler gets his "catch" and that is all that matters. It's their dime..

  • Hey there's nothing wrong with what your'e doing as long as you don't fight the fish to exhaustion and you don't call it flyfishing!

  • Correct about not fighting the fish to exhaustion. This one was early in my career and didn't know any better. Anything after 2 hours, 3 max is bad.

  • Yep, it's trolling. The flyrod just makes some schmuk feel more elitest! Total bullshit - troll some teasers and make a 40 foot "cast"! It's not flyfishing just because you use a flyrod anymore than chuck and ducking for steelhead!

  • Notice they don't even show where they yank the teasers in before the guy makes his "cast"

  • The customers son shot the video and a webmaster edited it and made the vid for my website. No pro videographer aboard. You jokers who write this negative stuff have way ti much time on your hands.

  • It's a damn good thing for you CAPTAINS that we have time on our hands.PLEASE IF YOU ARE TRYING TO ATTRACT CUSTOMERS BE HONEST-THIS VIDEO IS CLEARLY DRAGGING A FLY-I DOUBT THAT BOAT WAS THIS FAST IN NEUTRAL UNLESS YOU WERE GOING 15 KNOTS WHEN YOU KICKED HER OUT OF GEAR.

  • that aint how its done

  • It looks cool but when it shows the marlin it does look like the sky is different....

  • All ye haters be warned costacaptain is the reel deal! Ifished him with about 10yrs ago. Before you assmonkeys even knew about billfish on the fly. It's not trolling or trawlling it's called bait and switch!

  • fly's fly's fly's

  • flies come in all sizes. saltwater flies can be made large.

  • yer i rowed out 800 naughtical miles offshore and trawled a lure with oars on a five dollar reel on a homemade broomstick for a rod with 1 kilo line and landed a 800kg dogtooth tuna....your gay

  • i did manage to catch a few dogtooth tuna over the years. they turned out to pretty much disappear from our waters. cool fish and nice work. you got yourself a monster.

how was it that you "trawled" your lure? Normally in offshore game fishing it's trolling. How do you "trawl" for game fish.

  • real,iv seen in person ppl catching marlins off of flies takes them hours upon hours cant get a better fight then a marlin on a fly, experience, patience, knowledge comes involved with it good job, mine just happend so rip the line.

  • dude you cant catch a fish that big with no harness an d5 pound tests. you can tell that they took some video of a marlin being caught and then put that guy in it to look like that was was. there is a difference in the weather--it is cloudy when they showed the marlin and then sunny when they showed the guy. it was set up. there is no was that that could happen anyway. you see the way that they never showed the guy and the marlin at the some time?

  • You dont fly fish at sea twvt

  • watch s.c.deer and santee

  • can't say if its fake or not, but it looks like the fly was trolled, so whats the point in using a fly rod?

  • fly was not being trolled. boat was moving at 8 knots and goes to neutral when the angler casts his fly. unlike a car she can't stop on dime so the boat slides forward and white water is prevalent for a few yards.

  • so you're supposable catching a marlin standing up with no harness

old man like you get fucken pulled outa boat.

  • Well if any of you guys knew a little bout fly fishing he probly has a 15 weight or better and heavey line you talk shit cause youve never gotten that chacnce i believe it but you pussy bitches probly dont believe its possible to catch a 30lbs pike on 4lbs line well if u dont than give it a try u better not pull like in the vid

  • what a total load of nonsense the guy in the video looks gay and as though he is practising ballet and not fishing

  • the old man looks a little light in his loafers and was totally clueless but many say they would rather "be lucky than good". i dont remember how many hours he spent in the sun fighting that fish but he did a great job.

  • lol first of all horrible horrible quality and second it is very very fake!!!!!!!!!!

  • u guys are gay fags

    barramasterdave makes many good points

also look when he's holding the rod look at the weather then look at the pictures of the marlin see a difference?

  • Nice try guys....anyone that knows anything about fishing would know that if you caught a blue marlin that size it would have spooled you in 30seconds. also, the way you struck when the fish hit.....a real marlin would have ripped that piss weak fly rod out of your hands. oh by the way...how come you never see the fisherman and the marlin in the same frame?....its a dead give-a-way of a fake......

  • ill tell you why its fake you do not fight big game like marlin in a boat that you charted with out being sucrued in a fighting chair your insurance woul not allow it

  • Caught every marlin on the boat stand-up. Always said, "if you want your fish in a chair, go to a restaurant".

  • Looks pretty damn fake to me too...

  • thats rare, caugth that tipe of fish on fly....

    your are very lucky!

  • That is a wopper. Great catch mate!

  • Pretty work! Is part of your "system" hooking him in the soft spot so he goes apeshit and jumps himself silly, if so share that system with the rest of us, otherwise I chalk it up to being lucky, and good.

  • wish it was that easy. it was a miracle when the customers even got a bite. they were novice anglers generally, w little to no billfish experience. it is a sick site to see those monsters coming on the fly. it takes a lot of luck to catch these because the tippet is just so light and so close to the bill. use good thread w/ high abrasion and tie good knots. if you really want to catch one, you have a great odds w. me and our system.

  • Not even close buddy...I might as well say Im Neo fom the Matrix now and get it over with. Fake.

  • fake haha loasers

  • Questionable.

  • sushi

  • there is indeed an art to catching huge fish

  • sounds like jerry from around 1978.

  • it might would have seemed more real if u put in the sound and not shopping mall music and didnt have horrible clarity in the camera but very nice work on that fish man

  • Unbelieveable. If it indeed is true, as it looks fake.

  • real as it gets. this video was shot on vhs and than i had it converted for the internet. sorry if the quality is not where you would all like it. i caught more than one marlin on the fly... hard to do but 100% doable..

  • Very obviously a fake... just pasting bits and pieces of some other videos together. i will not want to fish with a dishonest "captain" for sure.

  • im surprised the line didnt run out when that marlin was on

  • me too. every time we caught a marlin fly fishing i always thought the same thing. i cant believe we didnt run out of line. our system worked!

  • how in the fuck did u catch that ur the fucking master how much did that weigh?

  • gracias,no sabeis cuanto os lo agradezco

    ya está.gracias una vez más

  • cual es titulo de esta banda sonora?

  • This marlin isn't caught on the fly. The video is a mix. look to the colors of the water when the fish is jumping and when you see the fisher. Feak Shit.

    Fuxking Imposter

  • Your out of your mind cuzzz. Real as It Gets..

  • well you brought the fish in really quick thg\o

  • grateful dead rocks , hey hey GARCIA

  • check out the web pageof sydney game fishing club. their latest marlin was a monster. I think it was one of the Doyles that nabbed it.

  • They say that eating freshly-caught fish is good for the brains, but in your case we're willing to make an exception

  • I caught a marlin once and boy was he a fighter took me at least 4-5 hours of reelin and almost lost him and any body who reads this check out my channel

  • What show and year is this china cat

  • gavin, wish i could remember. one year a customer who fished with me brought 20 sweet live dead cd's. he asked what shows i had been to and brought some of those too. had been to australia, venezuela and hawaii in search of a marlin caught on the fly... anyhow we caught a slob. when you watch the video of it you can hear jerry rippin on my boat stereo. same in this vid if you could hear the audio.. fish love a party bro.. my next boat i'll have speakers in the hull... catch ya..

  • fish tend to bite the best when they sky is yellow and the suns blue

  • Great Soundtrack

  • caught on the fly...amazing

  • cool awsome video
