I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
did u use stock headers? cause i wanna do the same thing with my 65' and a 351w, but can short tube bbk headers work? long tube headers? cause i dont want to use stock headers thx
Awesome ride!!! That's like my GF's dream ride right there. She's always telling me she wants a 64-1/2 to a 65 project car. Mostly because she already has the engine that she rebuilt herself(she's ASE qualified) for her college final. :)
we loaded it onto the trailer to take it to a muffler shop to have them bend a pipe to meet the manifold to the H-pipe, only they were closed at the time, and when we were getting it back off the trailer since the h-pipe wasn't connected, it scraped and bent the hanger, its all straightened out now though....
@j12345g Oh, an observation, huh? Well who the hell are you, man? Isaac fucking Newton?
I'm the one smoking marijuana motherfucker. So I'm blazing with my friends so I'm a fucking pothead, what's it to you. Why don't you say that while I'm fucking punch your teeth out Newton? I only came here to do two things, kick some ass and drink some beer. Looks like we're almost outta beer.
Well if you look at it at the very beginning you can tell it's a 4bbl carb and it has what appears to be an Edelbrock RPM Performer intake manifold on it. Couldn't tell you exactly what carb it was, but probably a 600cfm holley or edelbrock.
I have a set of edelbrock perfomers waiting to go on, it has a 10.5 compression ratio, the heads are vintage, (69) the only thing i have done is put hardened valve seats, so yes they are stock, however, the reason i beleive it is my carb is becuase i cam totally close off the idle mixture screws at the base and it will still idle fine...
that is generally caused by the larger cam. You need more throttle angle to idle at the right speed which causes the transfer system to feed fuel at idle. A 650 is plenty big though. Have fun with the new heads! itll be a whole new car!
Id be looking at your head/cam/compression ratio relationship before you point a finger at the carb. not dogging you-just been there. You said it was mildly built so i am assunming it has 351w heads of some vintage (hopefully before 73) but they are still stock. A cam with 296 deg of adv duration is gonna want a lot more comp than any stock or nearly stock 351w short block is going to get you. List some stats, prove me wrong. nice car though.
