  • i remember this interview Tarantino was on top of the world at this time. what an exciting time this was a for film fan...

  • Wow.

I can relate to this guy.

  • I love how he talks a million miles per hour but never stutters.

  • how'd you get a 54:51 on youtube.

  • BOOOOOO!

  • Tarantino is such an amazing director! But damn it Charlie! Why do you gotta' keep interrupting the man while he's talking? Just let him finish what he's saying for God sakes!

  • i love his astro voy tie!!!

  • For anybody and evrybody, a video on utube was deleted about QT called BBC omnibus QT Hollywood's boy wonder, and it was one of the best docs i've seen and now its gone. did anyone download it, somehow this video needs to be reuploaded.

  • Quentin is so nuts I think its so great how he is both way into himself and extremely talented. What makes it even crazier is that Charlie Rose who I actually like is really sucking his dick in this interview. Normally he does this to others but he is just feeding into Quentin's huge ego. Please nobody take this is an insult as Tarantino is a genius

  • me and QT have a lot in common

  • Not really.

  • the audio is out of sync

  • ru a cancerian QT by any chance ????? u luv history !!!!!!!!

  • Fair enough, but during the past years he's created masterpieces...what have you done?

  • LOL! Greatest reply I've read on youtube for a looong time!

  • vintage tarantino, behold one of america's finest artists

  • Tarantino is so pimp!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • Nice tie QT!!

  • Quentin "Alright" Tarantino

  • I KNOW, he says that sssssoooo much!!!!

  • I love Q but it always seem like he's on drugs when he does his interviews. Of course he's not on drugs since he stated that he's against it but seems that way by the way he acts and talks and hands har waveing all over the place. I'm glad I'm not interviwing him in a way, because I would totally lose my concentration and just look stupid!

  • nahh, its probably that you've never met anyone with an extroverted personality.

  • Could be.

  • He's just a very enthusiastic person. Loves to talk. i love his interviews, he gets in-depth, not like other directors/writers who keep half of the real story to themselves.

  • Yeah I know. But I would have a hard time interviewing him just because of the fact that many directors are very boring and shows no energy.

  • that's just his character. not everyone acts the same way, like robots? Artists quite often seem restless and awkward. Its their natural state of enthusiam. His passion for life shines through his mannerism. Don't automatically assume anyone who acts like this is on drugs. peace

  • FFS, I never said he was on drugs. I said it seeeeeemed like he's on drugs. But since he's against drugs he wouldn't be on them. God damnit...Don't take it literally

  • 42:58 signa-tour?

    ooh-la-la!

  • the Brando scene in Apocalypse now was his least favorite part?

    wtf?!

  • IF YOU don't understand anything he's saying, and you want a JOB in film, give up, because He's the kind of passion that makes a good story teller.

  • you're a fucking ass-kissing cock-sucker.

  • okay calm down there bud, no need to get mad

  • brown and fiction were based on books, but reservoir dogs was his best film, its simple but draws you in more than any other one of his movies can

  • Jackie Brown was based on a book, Pulp Fiction however was not I believe

  • ur right, i fucked up there

  • film likes are different for everyone, Kubrick is in the top 20 for sure but he is not the best, there is no best and the reason his films are so good is because he would spend a decade on each

  • while i like his hollywood take on older movies. I think that his ideas are not original but they are pretty well done, hes as close as people should go to see "remakes"

  • the reason the dialog was so good was because it was based off an actual book

  • I'll bet you're the kind of guy that would fuck a person in the ass and not even have the goddam common courtesy to give him a reach-around

  • lol

  • Tarantino starts to smile when he mentions plunging the needle into thurman

  • youtubes longest single video?

  • Nope, sorry, plenty longer. Check any of Rose's others for quick examples.

  • toncuz, you gona copy and paste the same shit comment into all Tarentino movie clips???

  • Great interview. Tarantino is a genius. One of my favorite people.

  • I love Tarantino, but was he high or just nervous in this video?

  • What do you mean? He's always like this, he's a highly energetic, enthusiastic guy.

  • No he isn't high lol.

  • this is the way he is

  • That's what I assumed at first, but in the other Charlie Rose video he seems to be less restless so I thought I'd ask.

  • who is a better director than him?

  • DARIO ARGENTO

  • LIES!!!!!!

  • martin scorcese

  • the greatest director alive

  • he's good but don't be stupid.

  • martin scorsese.

  • You may be correct, but there is no such thing as "the best film maker". Film branches out to all different genres and covers so many topics, nobody is the best. Kubrick did his own thing and thats great, but different strokes for different folks.

  • Why the heck does the sound never ever fit?!

  • I watched this entire interview. Smart guys burning very bright. Thanks Quentin and Charlie Rose.

  • I agree with your estimation that Kubrick was the greatest filmmaker.

  • astroboy

  • YOUTUBE: SCOURGE OF THE UNDEAD

  • And here you are.

  • My favorite filmmakers are:

    (no order)

    Martin Scorsese

    Quentin Tarantino

    Paul Thomas Anderson

    David Fincher

    Coen Bros.

  • Good taste. What about David Lynch?

  • I've actually never looked into him or seen any of his movies

    I'll have to

  • you gota see pulp fiction , has to be one of the top ten films ever made no matter what. so many "homages" have followed

  • Nice interview.

I wish it could be re-encoded and reuploaded thought, since the sound ceases to be in sync with the video at a certain point in the beginning. :(

  • I gotta say, to call Tarantino the best filmmaker or favorite filmmaker always seemed like a cliche. It was like saying your favorite food is hamburgers or favorite band is the beatles or favorite singer is elvis. But almost 18 years after Dogs, I don't give a shit, like scorsese said "sometimes cliches are cliche because they're true." Now if I say he's the best people react like its a simplistic answer and I am uncultured for thinking that. But I tend to find, the inverse is true, so fuck them

  • This will help me get an A in Film Studies coursework

  • I wish I had the internet when I was a student.

  • i love his movies.Quentin Tarantino rocks!

  • i <3 qt

  • Bit anglocentric, innit? They make movies in the rest of the world, too you know. If you like action directors, as you seem to from your list, how about Akira Kurosawa? The Seven Samurai is as exciting as anything else made by the people on your list, and I bet Quentin loves it too.

  • i didnt kno that ford copploa was nicholas cages uncle???

  • rodriguez?? lol

  • Take Spike Lee the hell off your list. He freaked out on Clint Eastwood, because he didn't lie about history and put black people in his WW2 movies.

    Plus he hates freedom.

  • I think he makes much better films than John Woo.

  • John Who?

  • HAH

  • John woo, show some respect both Qt and robert rodriguez were influenced by his body of work. Heroic Bloodshed.

  • is it just me, or is tarantino much more subdued and normal here than his manic, excitable appearances in later interviews? must be all the coke he's hoovered up since.

  • God...

The audio gets so out of sync.

  • Holy shit how long did it take you to upload this?

  • 5 minutes

  • Brilliant, a true genius. He's one of my all time heroes.

  • i was already a huge fan. then i saw the interview and its just like this guy pwns.

  • i want his tie.

  • whatcht the hole thing tarrantino u pwnd

  • taratino is one of the greastest directors ever

  • don't worry, u mention those names to him Quentin could give you 1000 more reasons why they're fucking good even more than you can yourself

  • Im not worried about anything. I was simply stating my opinion that everyone holds Tarantino on such a high level. I agree he makes a damn fine movie. My personal favorite is actually Jackie Brown and i have the rest of his flix he was involved with from True Romance to the Japanese Sukiyaki Western Django (from Takashi Miike "watch Audition and Gozu!!").

  • audition fuckin rocked!!

  • His dialogue is genius, his storytelling is genius, he got the best humour ever, and he's perfect to interwiev!

I think he's one of the best director ever.

  • Directors*

  • Whether you do or don't like Tarantino's films you have to respect his passion. When was the last time you saw someone so excited about the process of filmmaking?

  • I'm not a huge fan of his but this is one of the best interviews ever.

  • this guy is on another level

  • one of best interviews i have seen

  • pulp fiction is good bad mf"!

  • umm if you slept through his dialogue at the end of Kill Bill 2, I don't understand how you stayed awake during any of his other films

quentin reflects his ability to write great dialogue with every new film he writes

  • Ummm, none of his other films features silly conversations on superman, truth serums while the main characters sat around making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It used to be SO much better.

  • I think he's the first filmmaker I actually followed.

  • I love this guy

  • my god, this is lipsynced.

  • This is like one of the greatest interviews ever!

  • I remember printing and reading this interview. When he starts describing making scrapbooks of directors and their lives, I remember tearing up a bit because thats when I realized what true passion in something meant. This is a classic interview.

  • I remember printing and reading this interview. When he starts describing making scrapbooks of directors and their lives, I remember tearing up a bit because thats when I realized what true passion in something meant. This is a classic interview.

  • i must admit - i love his voice

  • blue suit green tie :)

  • you got that right...

  • Who cares how the man dresses?

    He is a genius.

  • Freaking genius

  • I love the way Quentin talks. He's somewhat funny to listen to.

  • It's funny because he talks too fast for himself. He's got so many thoughts going through his head he can't handle it which is why he's a great writer.

  • You took the words right out of my mouth.

  • I agree. He reminds me of listening to Martin Scorsese talk.

  • great post

    tarantino is lucid and articulate

but how fking hard is it to sync the audio and video

    muppets

  • i wanna become a director too!

  • strawberry shortcake meets rambo. hummmmmmm

  • it's interesting to watch the first 30 minutes of this. He's cute though isn't he? ;)

  • sure is

  • So geeky....such a great director

  • too bad the sound is not in sync with the footage; other than that, it's an interesting interview

  • I adore how he rhapsodizes Howard Hawks, because I do, too. I've never thought that Tarantino was a god like so many other people do, but he seems like a very cool guy and I love directors who wear their love for films on their sleeves; they're the ones whose work will live on forever.

  • people say i look like him

  • wow bieder what a great comment..

  • hahahahah

  • Hahahaha

  • haha lucky you :P

  • Unfortunate

  • do you also say "alright" every 3 seconds? :P

  • I think that's cool..

  • That's the ''Quentin-thing''. And i think that's genius!!!

  • i love QT...hes so rad

  • I love QT's movies

  • great interview. Best director and writer around

  • This might be the longest video in YouTube, right?

    Near 55 minutes... Wow!

  • Quentin is God!

  • Why would the Brando sequence be his least favourite of Apocalypse Now? Don't get that.

  • holy shit hes just like me

  • Mmm i feel your pain - if only all of us could express our visions so distinctly, and to receive such appreciation for it.

  • great interview.

    QT is the man!

  • by Joel Coen you must mean both Ethan and Joel as they share that job (despite the single credit on the movies).

  • oh my god, those guys are really famous!

  • you also forgot stanley kunrick

  • Steven Spielberg too?

  • Quentin looks straight out of Pulp Fiction. Love him!

  • My Baby, Quentin T.!!

  • Why are CharlieRose vids alsway get out of sync? The best interviews ruined! That Sucks!!!

  • Great old video!!!

  • okay, on 28min he's talking about Friedkin from Sorcerer and so on clearly ))

  • he's lucky he had a mother who supported him and his passion for movies/screenwriting.

  • This is on disc 2 of the Pulp Fiction DVD.

  • that's how i first saw this.

  • The sound gets out of sync about 6 minutes into it :(

  • thanks for this...
