There are very few groups in hip hop that truly can't be duplicated and I would put Tribe at the top of the list. Single best Rap Group of all time in my opinion when you combine, Lyrics, Beats, Content, and how the mesh with each other.
Id pay $100 an album just to have these guys come back and take back the rap game.
the thing i love most about underground hip hop is its just music, rappers now a days do too much with their voices or their samples and it sounds over done. i cant relate to none of them, im not a millionaire and i go to school everyday, im a simple a guy, this is simple music, this is what i like
it just proves that music is not controled by the people. I know people still want real hip hop. No need to diss soulja toy nor lil winey, dont buy their shit. they suck and they know it, no way they can think much of themselves after listerning to something like this.
@insidejerk Of-course it's Ummah. Just those guys did most of their work separate. I think the purpose for Ummah was to save money so the label wouldn't drain more bucks out of Tribe's pocket. I'm surprised at your response tho, I was expecting that you'd be one of those stubborn Dilla fans that think it's Dilla on production no matter what.LOL
@steeltownbrown52 lol yeah im no internet thug for sure, thats interesting about umah cuz alot of times i listen to a beat and wonder how much of it is dilla and how much is ali shaheed
@insidejerk true that, i think i know what was Tip. But with Dilla and Ali its kinda difficult. Maybe the drums you can tell, but one thing i know was Ali was no joke, he did Brown Sugar, We Run Things and the Lucy Pearl stuff.
@graveey yes mate, but you misunderstood, they were and still are underrated, people should listen more to the classics like this one but they don't, only real hiphop heads knows whats diggin. right? let's play this shit to nowadays "homies" and you will see. peace bro, one luv
Omg, it makes me so happy to read all the awesome comments people leave on every Tribe video! So reassuring to know that people still know what it's like to live real hip-hop.
@Gin01 not sure why anyone would have to be reassured or told what music they like and is good.........If i liked listening to this and everyone else hated it it wouldnt matter....if i like 1 50 cent or lil wayne song and i come to these comments where people bash them openly im still going to like that song.....dont let anyone tell you what is "good" and what isnt
this is tru hip hop, too bad cats dont feel the real beats tru mc's use to drop, ATCQ forever mad props, being able to hear these tracks is a blessin, outta respect ima light on up n have a chilled out session, everyone burn one down at 4:20 to respect this song like it was minus 9 seconds.
@ab0181 No doubt but DILLLLLLA didn't do this cut. One thing you'll notice about Ummah production is each track would say which ones were produced by Dilla by being labeled as "J. Yancey".
@steeltownbrown52 just looked at the wax...and you're right, my bad. didn't look that close before. dilla musta been in the room tho when they made that...lol
@ab0181 When you say "dilla musta been in the room tho when they made that", are you saying that Tip or Shaheed could never hack it as producers? LOL
The Tribe representin' real hip hop as it was meant to be heard. Nas was right, hip hop IS dead... they don't do it like this anymore. It's a shame... maybe the Lonely Island can stir a resurrection...?
ahhh, real, musical hip hop. This is what we need instead of all the bling bling, money money, talentless bullshit that passes for hip hop these days.
Man, this brings back old memories. I remember lisening to this song on the Men in Black sound track when I was 8 years old, after hearing that it changed my life!! It introduced my to Snoop Dog, De La Soul, Nas, and of couse A Tribe Called Ques, and Jazz. Still to this day I have that album on tape and still play it, and I still listen to those guys and jazz music.
First tribe song I ever heard, was on the MenInBlack ost :D
