  • so... This is amazing. I'm buying a didgeridoo tomorrow. My friend wants to get a hang drum. However, they are preeeetttyyy expensive. Hapi drums aren't cheap either. We're probably going to make a hang drum out of a propane tank this summer. Anyone know where I can find one cheap just in case though?

  • Do the players breathe?

    LOL

  • @RaynorFirebat Actually yes, it's all the difficulty of this instrument :)

  • Битов не хватает, а так вполне Trance

  • "french horn solo" to this... OH Mighty YouTube strikes again..

  • original dubstep

  • is it a hapi drum or hang drum?

  • Jebus, I actually get goosebumps when I hear the power of a didgeridoo and any "primal" (that is, in no way synthesized) percussion.

Really makes me wonder if under all these layers of "civility and culture, mixed and molded in a city environment" I'm really hiding my primal self, the rhythmic creature, a Human.

I can't help but sway along and simply enjoy the soundscapes of the world.

  • @Kevooi i can dig it

  • @Kevooi I know exactly what you mean man.. buying a cheap didgeridoo and my friend is gonna get one of those drums.. I feel like it would be an amazing experience after smoking some weed...

  • is there any purpose to the gyrating hand motion?

  • @strwy2hvn94 Keeping time or making a percussive rhythm on the didgeridoo.

  • @strwy2hvn94

It probably helps him keep time.

  • @oddmusic :D Thank you.

  • what is that design on the hang drum players shirt? i've seen this before.

  • @TheRussianSFSR The design on my shirt is the Australian Aboriginal Flag which represents the Indigenous Australians. It holds special legal and political status, but it is not the Australian National Flag. The Black color represents the Aboriginal people of Australia. The Red represents the red earth, the red ochre and a spiritual relation to the land. And the Yellow represents the Sun, the giver of life and protector.

  • You guys are fuckin annoying. Dont watch it if you dont like it.

  • michael j fox's new move "Back to The Hang Drum"

  • Very cool! Marty

  • It is an insult for a woman to play the didgeridoo. It is forbidden for that to happen. This video is an insult to the Aboriginal peoples of Australia.

  • @oldfoxbob1 only in ceremonies. Most Aborigines allow it for non-ceremonial use

  • I'd have a 'Great Day' if my morning news played stuff like this

  • Hang drum yes. But next time didgeridont blow the tree dick with it. :o

  • @sammos42

both instruments are made upon the natural-scale. It was here long before the regular music-scale we know. It is not out of tune.

  • the guy on the hang drum looks like Michael J Fox

  • I adore Didgeridoos

  • @oddmusic lol dont be jealous now

  • Isnt that the guy from Whose Line is it Anyway?

  • @oddmusic lol drum machines r sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo lame

  • Can I use this music as a drone for a new song? It is very inspirational!

  • where is pharoah?

  • @sammos42 ever so slightly but not enough to make you cringe. the hangdrum isnt out of tune with its self

  • @cream8 listen to the note at 1:02-1:06... It's almost like the pitch is splitting into two, one being slightly smaller than a half step lower.

  • @sammos42 im not hearing this semi-tone out of tune-ness. you may just be blessed with ninja ears

  • @cream8 oddmusic, who posted the video, agrees with me. Read his second post.

  • I love this, deeply spiritual and yet not religious in any way. I can listen to this for hours. :3

  • When I say, "It's extremely out of tune" ... I mean the high B on the hang drum is flat. So maybe not extremely but it is out of tune. And the didgeridoo around :40 I still enjoyed it though. :)

  • @sammos42 Oh I know, was just kidding.... they actually stopped making them with that note, because they couldn't get the tuning to stabilize, and most of them drifted in tuning.

  • i'm proud of my grandma !

  • Can't help but having a huge amount of respect for people with such talents - it's mezmerizing.

  • easy with the hand waving dundee

  • sounds amazing, like a very long trip through a hot desert, and the heat starts fuckin with your head...then you start to hallucinate and hear this song

  • Kool man

  • oldskoll dubstep, just need a heavy 2-step beat

  • This reminds me of Diablo 2 Act 2

  • @Naunk Holy Crap Yes!!

That groove in the Palace Harem with the chick singing! I've just left a character standing on that level with my volume pumped up for hours before. That tune seriously rocks.

  • @Naunk HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH RIGHT... your nick its kinda my name twisted,, XD I'm Anouk.. ahahah

  • @noodleboix screw dubstep, it has its place i suppose... but not here.

  • jim breuer?

  • Some Phat beatz!

  • Anybody could play didgeridoo, its very easy to get the hang of it

  • @Rhinoch8 too true. i can play pretty well and yes this performance was aless than average. if you want pro didgeridoo music listen to xavier rudd, especially his song gift of the trees

  • cooooooooool!

  • Is that Michael J. Fox?!

  • I love the Didgeridoo it brings me such a calming effect they way it is played here.

  • Great job!

  • Damn I love the way they play it a lot. It takes a lot of practice!

  • I like the part where it goes "Boeeeeyeooooooooooeeeeeeewooooooo"

  • Pretty sweet. I love how the lady doing the introduction picks her ass as she walks off camera

  • they never take breaths, further proving they are aliens!

  • Dude circular breathing like that is so hard, playing digireedoo takes skill.

  • FANTASTIC!!! FKD

  • FISTPUMP!

  • Just imagine yourself exploring the australian wildland with this music.

  • lovely music.

  • Nice music to listen while playing RTS...

  • @jerrybobby100 LMAO too funny

  • @jerrybobby100 its called an UMI (unidentified musical instrument)

  • why the hell is there a woman playing the didgeridoo?

  • @Musicfrommitchell Shouldn't she?

  • @Musicfrommitchell Because she can, and because this isn't a traditional Australian aboriginal ceremony.

  • the only aboriginal bloke there walked off before they start playin. still love the tunes just need a bit of asid to wash it all down

  • Ohh damn, granny on the right is a didgery-pimp

  • tHOSE ARE REALLY COOL INSTRUMENTS!!!!!

  • RIICCCOOOOOLLLLLAAAA

  • this actually sounds kinda techno to me xD

  • Michael J. Fox is cured!!!!!!

  • What's with this weird thread about revoltkid123... anyways...

interesting video. The percussionist is playing what looks like to me a Steel

Drum but flipped upside down. Great sounds.

  • @freqazoidiak the drum is called a hang drum (pronounced hung). invented in switzerland in 2000. there are some other vids on youtube featuring it.

  • Was this performance, by any chance, in Fresno, CA?

  • @rosski47 Yep, it sure was, a promo for a Didgeridoo festival that took place in North Fork. Good observation! :)

  • woowoowoowoowoakwokaowkaowkaowkaowowowowokwoowowowowowowowoowooowooowoo. this is wicked cool

  • Very cool! I've noticed a bunch of didgeridoo players make the same hand motions...why is that?

  • @chillieluvr45 Might just help them keep beat, or keep track of their circular breathing

  • @chillieluvr45 as said, circular breathing and the motion they feel it takes

    to induce it.

  • @chillieluvr45 im guessing because it helps with the way you have to blow air constantly, in your nose and then out your mouth over and over.. how could they get a continuous sound that long on one breath? im guessing the hand motion help them cycle the air

  • O Hang Drum até que tem um som simpático, mas o tal do Didgeridoo é terrível! Nunca ouvi algo tão feio, que horror!

  • I know it's the didge making the sound. But how odd does it look that there is a tiny little old woman making such a deep noise? It really made me smile. :)

  • I think you guys are all forgetting the most important part of this clip......when she adjusts her wedgie at 0:08.....

  • the sound of earth

  • ...im hypnotized................... @.@

  • realy good, its sounds mystical and meditative.

  • you're right! but only the speakers are good!

it sounds to me like a lot of bees.

    it's not their fault.

  • she looks at the people like about to say their names and shes like fuck it

  • this is how shit goes down here in oz mate got a dollar brah?

  • Holy shit this is good... :)

  • Sehr gut!

  • what is the bases of this rhythm????are you using cheek wobble?????

  • I seen white guys do the haka on the All Blacks. Same Difference.

  • This is an awesome video, and a celebration of Aboriginal Culture.

  • wow, this can be a background soundtrack for like...age of mythology or any sort of similar themed game.

    this is brilliant, +1

  • this is awesome great music you guys keep up the good work

  • That drum is one of the oddest looking and sounding instruments I've ever seen and heard. But goes so well with the didges.

  • I absolutely love this piece, sorry it ended so fast!! I love seeing a woman play the Didge, very impressive. It must have been a great honor to be permitted to play it by someone so powerful. Gives it that extra touch. Cheers from NYC

  • I've heard Graham Wiggins (aka Dr Didg) talk at length about all this. The aboriginals he learned with had no problem with the didge being used as a musical instrument, since this had very little to do with the way they used it in ceremony. When he brought back an Outback CD they loved it. I play West African djembe and all the drummers I have met in Guinea have been delighted that I play their music and bring in back to England. Still, there'll always be those with 'hang-ups' (pardon the pun!)

  • ah may zing

  • First time hearing anything like this...awesome!

  • Unreal, awsome, I think there are many other words to describe that performance. We live in America where we all share other peoples cultures. I don't think anyone really should give a shit if chicks play the instrument here in our country. I love this music so stop leaving stupid ridiculous comments. I give props to them. I just recently started playing a hang drum and it's the most peaceful sounding instrument I've ever heard.

  • i don't understand why there is so much controversial debate in the comments of like...every youtube video

    this was awesome, cool performance!

  • @suck5hit

It's what the Aboriginals call the "Dreamtime"

  • @revoltkid123 you need to brush up on your history dude...

  • Comment removed

  • @revoltkid123 yeah dude we get it, just listen to the music. sex doesn't matter

  • @revoltkid123 never heard of this legend, probably made up

  • @logrhythm also, the word "didgeridoo" was a word created by the Europeans, mocking the instrument, stating that its sound was just noise and not music.

  • @logrhythm but still, i am curious, please tell me where i am wrong. I would like to know. thank you.

  • @revoltkid123 there have been numerous "women aren't allowed to play," comments.....go back to some of the earlier posts on this video and learn that the same things that applied long ago, no longer apply....I think it's all there.

  • Comment removed

  • @revoltkid123 whose legend is that? certainly not the aboriginal owners/custodians of the instrument in arnhem land!

  • Comment removed

  • @revoltkid123 If this offends your own beliefs, then stop watching it, your beliefs are your own and do not reflect the entire Aboriginal community, like it has been stated many times in previous posts: Djalu' Gurruwiwi, one of the most respected Aboriginal elders, gave her permission, and has seen her play, and doesn't mind women playing at all, since it's not in a CEREMONY context. Aboriginal dancers & yidaki players watched and played with us as well, who had traveled to share their culture.

  • @revoltkid123 History is just that HISOTRY. This is a new era. You should be honored that others would want to learn of your ways. It is no longer, black/white/red/yellow/whatever. The world has become much more local. For "sacred rituals" I am sure it would be totally inappropriate, but this is MUSIC and should be shared.

  • @revoltkid123 fuck you

  • oh my goodness yall! Just enjoy and respect the music. there's No logic to music its made from and for the Soul. No reason to fight. let's enjoy this gift!

  • We sent Jenkins in to civilize them and by golly he has gone native.

  • im from NZ, but i think the didgeridoo is awesome.

  • hes a horrible hang drumb player.

  • @aperfectfailyour he's a helluva a lot better hang "drum" player than you are a speller.

  • @aperfectfailyour your a horrible speller

  • @Adub0stubb123489

    "you're a horrible speller"

  • @Adub0stubb123489 HAHAHAHAHA IRONY

  • amazing!!!

  • i once farted into a soda bottle. it sounded pretty good. i was stoned at the time.

  • @fbeans99 your parents must be so proud....

  • @2bulartwo yeah. my dad took a break from his wok banging solo to acknowledge the complimentary sounds.

  • those old people are fuckin RAD .

  • nice, but why over one million klicks?

  • that pipe looks funny...

  • thumbs up for michael j fox on the hang drum

  • honan91 quit trolling.

  • I think that hang drum spoils the sound of the didgeridoos

  • is that a woman playing the didge?

  • @honan91

Your post is inappropriate and immature. The woman playing didgeridoo is my wife and she is not Aboriginal and she doesn't play in Australia. Furthermore, she has permission and blessings from Djalu Gurruwiwi, a tribal elder who is the current custodian of the didgeridoo. Perhaps you should investigate further before you make such hateful comments.

  • @honan91 and who made you the god of didgeridoo? You have just demonstrated

gross ignorance once again. She has played with many Aboriginals and is considered family regardless of her race or skin color. I feel sorry for you. Perhaps your next life will be better.

  • @logrhythm fine, ignore tradition and rules then, you're the ignorant one, who clearly doesnt care about indigenous customs....racist fool. try being tolerant of the customs, rather than think that since you're white, you are superior, and can do what ever you want. its called equality mate, give it a try. respect the traditions...
