@mrlighterknot1 Save the lecture for someone else. I frequently give away cuts of venison, whole deer, hogs, beaver, etc. If someone were to approach me about gathering food, I'd be inclined to accommodate their needs and would be concerned about their being hungry. It's an entirely different proposition when someone dangerously shoots on to my land from a vehicle without concern about safety or game management metrics. I'll not tolerate poachers.
Yeah that's great. You just attacked and participated in jailing someone who was asserting their rights as a free man. If you don't understand what I mean: Free men don't need permission to gather food for themselves. Free men don't need anyone's permission to do anything. I would say I'd expect more brains out of a hunter but it looks more like you're a british government house boy than a respectable hunter. Just how long have you let the queen convince you to turn on others? Fool.
@whateva400 Silly me! What was I thinking? As I accumulated the land over many years with my hard earned money, I should have realized that the land was for the public good and not for me and my family's use. Thanks for setting me straight.
@whateva400 So this guy had the right to go on private property and kill two deer to leave them lay!?!? If you think that is ok then you should be stripped of your hunting rights and beat with a stick.. Is it ok for me to come in to your house and eat your food without permission?? you are the fool sir

worst case I ever heard of at my little store, was a 9 year old kid what was fined $300 and given a criminal record, for catching a fish 1/2 inch to short for the species.
so most of us never ever hunt nor fish any longer.
Hope you weren't serious about a warning shot. That could lead to all sorts of bad things, not the least of which is assault with a deadly weapon even if you weren't intending to shoot him.
One should exercise caution when approaching a tresspaser with a fire arm. Being out in the woods, compels most experienced poachers to shoot to kill as not to be apprehended and have to go back behind bars. Best advice is to stay silent and text in your gps co-ordinates and his heading and keep yourself alive and out of harms way. That's what you pay taxes for, let the trained authorities do their job.

Great video, thanks for sharing. It sounds to me like you handled the situation great. Glad another poacher is out of the woods. I'm currently overseas and will miss this coming deer season but enjoy watching other peoples hunts, even if it is getting poachers.
The best part of your video was the 9 point behind u on the wall , I would have shot a few times and chased his ass !! He would have thought twice about ever coming back ,
this is why the outdoors arent like they used to be on a good day i can see two whitetail buck and catch ten fish. my grandpa used to tell me to look at the drop in wildlife nowadays a huge buck today might be a 10 - 11 - 12 point people in my family used to kill 13's every year and it be little. i guess all i can say care for the outdoors because i know i want my kids to be killing big bucks every year and catch some big fish. just dont poach and let fish be wasted. the outdoors are dying.
I do not defend poachers, but this situation could've gone bad in 2 ways for you, confronting this guy could've turned into a shoot-out, he could've shot you dead, or you could've shot him dead and possibly have beaten it in court , but worse case scenario ended up in prison on a manslaughter charge under the circumstances. The law might not have been on your side if you had approached this guy and even with him drawing his gun first, and you having shot him, you still might've served time.
@fstwrtr Passed on a few bucks as they were not quite big enough. Doe harvest was great and we're a little behind the curve in herd mgmt as the buck/doe ratio is about 1/5.
If You'd of Shot Him in the Lungs that would of warned Him not to Poach there anymore. His Friend could of still taken Him Home strapped to the Roof of the Car! I suppose a Tarp would be appropriate. I suppose You could have the Head Mounted, but You'll have a hard time finding a Taxidermist to do that kind of a Job. Maybe just put the Head in a Formaldehyde Filled Jar. Like the Movie Surviving The Game 1994. But I'm not in to Trophys at all. Especially when it could send You to Prison!
I do feel your pain and am glad you prosecute poochers as we do here in Tunica County.... We work closely with our State, local and Federal authorities along with constant communication with joining landowners when when we see anyone unfamiliar riding the roads ... Anyone caught is prosecuted.... No Exceptions!!!! Pooching is dangerous and stealing from me.... Why can't we as land owners protect our property and let who we want hunt on us?? After all we bought and pay all the expenses on our pr
Can't believe half the comments on this video about you and your land!! Doesn't anyone believe in property rights? Your land, lease and they think nothing of saying you have to much! I don't have a new flat screen maybe if they have two I can come and get one of thiers! Poachers or road hunters need to be prosecuted, no one thinks your neighbors kid may have been riding a 4 wheeler in the woods behind the deer, next thing your at a funeral!!! Great vid
I put up a post calling YOU an idiot for wanting to shoot a human over the killing of a poached animal. I see you have not posted it. I think you must be very insecure of your man hood! The fact that you won't take any negative comments tells me you wouldn't even have the BALLS to pull the trigger!!!
Relax Jimmy - I said warning shot, not kill shot. By the way, I thought it was cool the Deputies caught this clown. Anyone who shoots a deer from a vehicle is a chump in my book. Merry Christmas sir.
@richnessofexperience You were smart to not fire a warning shot. that could considered a threat with a firearm and you may have been in worse trouble than the poacher. Good work keeping your head.
@jimmyjunkmail sometimes the poachers have to be shot, especially in Africa with endangered animals. But I agree, not for a deer, and I'm glad you didn't fire a warning shot at him, that could have led to something very very bad happening and wouldn't have been to bright. I'm glad they caught this guy though. Sounds like he's in a world of trouble. Since this was in Dec. 2009, do you have any updated news?
@jimmyjunkmail i wouldnt kill another man but i would stop him, beat the f*ck out of him destroy his vehicle, take his guns and leave him as far out in the woods as possible because these guys disgust me and are the reason hunting laws are so tight now, especially the ones who shoot and leave these animals its ruining the population!
@jimmyjunkmail, Let me guess,You’re just bright enough to go up to this guy and say "Heeyyy, you know, you should kill animals. It’s not nice." He's got a gun you dumb ass! He just illegally used it to kill a deer what makes you think he won’t use it to kill you to get away?? It’s a warning shot. Let this retard know you mean business. @Stewart, I got to say, I would've call him out like Bear Claw in Jeremiah Johnson. "You're a fine target Pilgrim! Empty your hands!" LOL Happy Hunting.
Im all for you catching this guy IF he is a poacher. I didnt see a gun and if he did have one, I would have made sure to get that on camera for proof. But I have a question. You own this 4000 acres?
Sorry for the slow reply. Barely got the guy on film. Apparently, my neighbor's caretaker witnessed the guy shooting the deer and his attempt to retrieve it on foot from his buddy's car on the road. The poacher actually fled when the caretaker confronted him. That's when my neighbor called me, etc. I own 1,087 acres & lease the 2,900 acres from my neighbor and his wife. Love deer hunting for sure!
@richnessofexperience ok now a thought comes to mind, is that many acres really needed for you to hunt? How about letting other fellows get a chance to lease some property instead of "hogging" all the land. I dont know your circumstances sure but 4000 acres is an awful lot.
@richnessofexperience The 1,087 you own is more than enough. Its reasons like this that most people dont have places to hunt anymore. How is a father supposed to take his son out his first year when he cant even find a decent place to hunt. It just sickens me to see something like this turn into a "money" game. As of the poacher im glad he got what he deserved.
I guess we will be seeing you in the news next.. Seriously you think you "should have shot a warning shot at him"! Good advice! And why didnt you show the whole video of him cause to me he didn't look like a hunter or like he had gun!
Steve - a poacher who hunts from his car typically looks like a motorist, not a hunter. Also, this clown was in the middle of 4,000 acres of fenced and posted private property in street clothes. After having just received a call from my neighbor regarding the poaching incident, I had ample reason to conclude he was the criminal. A warning shot from a power deer rifle 100 yards in front of him might have caused him to freeze, but as I mentioned, I did not fire the warning shot.
dude all your vids are lame..the coyote that bit your gun just had lock jaw from being dead past an hour..that wasnt a poacher..no gun for one thing and no camo..you wish you were tred barta or something kook
Hey Joe - the arresting officer disagreed with your assessment of whether or not that clown was a poacher. FYI: poachers who shoot out of their vehicle typically are not in full camo. Additionally, it's amazing how that dead coyote has his eyes open in the video. Have a great day.
You should've shot him and put his head on you wall, Thats what I'd do to someone who is hunting just for fun.... Oh wait.... I've got a place on my wall for your head Richness!!!!!
My friends and I duck hunt alot of the Sardis backwater...it amazes me the number or times we have encountered roost shooters and people vastly overlimit. Glad this fella got caught, hope all who abuse gaming laws get what karma has coming for them. Panola county really has some winners though. That kinda stuff isn't tolerated in NE Mississippi where we grew up.
that is so awesome!!! there is no greater vermin in my opinion than those assbags! excuse my french I don't like to cuss on youtube but them bastards make my blood boil! we found a headless deer on our property this year and 4-wheeler tracks coming onto our property from our north...I have thought about using my trail cameras to catch them but if they see them they'll just steal them...great story! 5*

@richnessofexperience You have 4,000 acres to hunt? Okay, now I hate you. Not really, just envious. Congrats on catching those bums.

A warning shot from a power deer rifle 100 yards in front of him might have caused him to freeze, but as I mentioned, I did not fire the warning shot.

dude all your vids are lame..the coyote that bit your gun just had lock jaw from being dead past an hour..that wasnt a poacher..no gun for one thing and no camo..you wish you were tred barta or something kook
joemyersjr 1 year ago
Hey Joe - the arresting officer disagreed with your assessment of whether or not that clown was a poacher. FYI: poachers who shoot out of their vehicle typically are not in full camo. Additionally, it's amazing how that dead coyote has his eyes open in the video. Have a great day.
