First, depende of the use, a Phenom X3 for me isn't bad, he can run GTA IV in medium good, without lags and costs good. Why buy a Core 2 Duo, if it is 5% ~ 10% better than a Phenom X3 and costs 60%. Phenom X3 runs, open the Windows, play games, make editions etc.

The same with Core i7 and Phenom II, Core i7 can be better but, isn't 100% better, like 20 ~ 30% better and 100% more expensive, and in games Phenom II for me is better.

Gotta love these commercial-like videos. When will we see a proper comparison between processors? Is the Intel faster on those games? Yes. And on the DivX encoding? Also yes. But keep in mind that those games and encoding don't have multi-core support, that means they use 2 cores max. Just because a processor has a lot of cores, doesn't mean all of them will be used. And btw, the DivX 6.7 doesn't have multi-core support, but the 6.8 does, and i'm ready to bet the X3 will be faster on it.

Absolutely If your not waiting for Phenom 45nm architecture then go with a 5000+/6000+/6400+ for the best dollar/performance. I run a 6000+ in ASUS M3A32-MVP DeluxeWiFi, at 3.36 (x14/FSB240, DDR2 800 at DDR2 960, HT of 1200 and let me tell you it screams. It's 100% stable, ran AMD Overdrive stability test for 72 hours and no errors. Can run at 3.45 on air but is'nt stable enough for everday use.

I looked at various benchmarks and the E8200 is faster than the X3 8650 at certain things.However the X3 8650 multitasks much better and is currently as I write $20 less expensive than the E8200 at around $165 for the X3 8650.The E8200 is around $185 and the X3 8750 is around $195.
