You deserve a LOT more credit and attention for this than you are getting right now. This is the most fantastic and detailed simulator of its kind and it has so much potential I can hardly wrap my brain around it. Perhaps you should show this to Neil DeGrasse Tyson or Michio Kaku?
@HeliosMachina I agree. :) Perhaps you should mention this to the programmer Vladimir Romanyuk at the SpaceEngine website. He replies to everyone's posts at his forum.
@BRBSHUTUPNOOB I don't think there can be a cut-down version of the graphics engine. This procedural engine needs a video card with at least 500MB of VRAM. And it will not work well -or not at all- with inbuilt graphics cards.
@BRBSHUTUPNOOB Windows has a diagnostic tool called "dxdiag" it will show you what you need to know about your system specs. If you are unsure about how to use the "dxdiag" command then just do a Google search to help you use it.
@IAmSunyata i have 3072 MB of RAM and have an ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card, my processor is amd turion x2 dual-core mobile rm-72. and 2.10 GHz. hopefully when the simulator releases it should run on medium settings
@BRBSHUTUPNOOB if you have an integrated card, the HD3200, does not meet minimum specification for SE, you need a HD 3850 or higher. BTW, SpaceEngine has already been released in beta version 0.95. and its currently free while being developed as an engine only. :)
How did you find the black hole? I have been searching the center of the Milky way, but found nothing so far. What do I type in the search field, to find it?
@Kvokki - For the video I am using a Quad Core i7 930 CPU o/c 3.8 GHz - 6GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM - Radeon HD 5870 1024Mb - Intel SSD X25-M Gen 2, and Win 7 64-bit.
spaceengine is a fantastic program in that its free, covers a huge swath of galaxies in the local group including the milky way. In a few areas it still needs work but its an actual program that is being regularly updated and released. In that respects it blows Infinity completely out of the water. As far as i now infinity just has released a few good videos and a 1-planet battle simulator. After 4-5 years of waiting for infinity its an engine with no program (practically vaporware).
Magnificent.

@IAmSunyata thats good, because it sucks for vladimir to develop this engine for like 3 years of hard work, it would be good as a pay-only :D

@bassdass - Open F3 search box, then type "Milky Way," then click on "Go to" button. Then press Ctrl+G key to go to black hole.

@IAmSunyata Thanks, I found it! It's pretty cool to speed up time, and see the stars orbit the black hole. Awesome stuff!!

Space Engine itself, flying near stars and galaxies do not require a super computer at all.
It's the planet landscape Level of Detail loading that requires the 'super'.

Do the rings have individual astroids like in Infinity?
Supertax2 3 months ago
@Supertax2
At present, the rings are just a 2D texture. But I understand that 3D rings are planned for a later release.

@IAmSunyata Quick question - what supercomputer do you use? Everything loads in a few miliseconds :o
