  • A great man.

  • @jasmin190782 and great music

  • An be sape le, jama be sape le ko, we are going to dress up, the people is going to dress up --- tribute to the former malian stylist Chris Seydou, I believe Seydou introduced Haute Couture (high fashion) to the Bogolan, a malian fabric. Anyway Salif is singing to the memory of his old friend. I mentioned earlier that Chris was gay and Paco Rabanne was believed to be his lover, and not I am not gay, Salif is not gay and Mali is indeed a muslim nation so what, we are a tolerant nation.

Asi Salif rende homenaje a Chris Seydou

  • The greatest singer to come from Africa. The music is so beautifully compiled and perfectly executed. "Seydou" is one of my favourite Salif Keita songs. My grandfather's name was Sayid (Sayidu locally) in Sierra Leone. Again, Mr. Salif Keita has done his magic to bring back great memories.

  • What is he singing about?

  • This song makes me so sad. I cry everytime I listen to it. May Allah continue to bless our Golden voice of Africa!

  • Please lets not bring the negativity this is true African music it fill the soul and relaxes the ears. Just listen and appreciate the power of music and love.

  • You are an idot to think that Africans are Animist. Africans are the original and primier people of this world. Please do not blame Muslims and Christians for your ignorence about African culture in general. Think before you write something stupid. We have enough of those already.

  • @mrtees2003 ; mavvà a laurà!

  • @mrtees2003 hello, who do you call idiot ? is it possible to give your opinion without being rude? Normally listen to this song must bring you to respect and a peaceful mind. And please first do what you are preaching. Your comment is totally disrespectful.

  • @2learnabout No one called you an idiot. Anyone who thinks that Africans are Animists should be called or considered idiots. Are you one of those people who think of Africans as Animists? You should not be disrespectful of the African people and blame their religion for you ignorance, or anyone for that matter. Remember, Salif Keita is the greatest singer to come from Africa and has a strong faith in his people as he demonstrates in most of his SONGS!!!

  • @mrtees2003 ok, ok, you're right, if you like. I personnaly know Salif, you can't be the one to tell me how great is the man. Because he is, even in his life.

I'm african and I know my history and where I come from, so please keep your lesson for yourself. I blamed noone in my comments on the contrary. Read again.

Don't need to argue with nosense. Good night. an advice : try to be a little bit pacifist if you can.

  • @2learnabout I am glad you know Mr. Salif Keita . He has been my favorite Artists. I wish I will have the opportunity to meet him one day. I admire you for knowing him and I am sorry if there is any misunderstanding between us. Remember, after all , we are all Africans. Thank you.

  • @mrtees2003 Hello, no problem if the communication is peaceful. Don't admire me for knowing him. Thanks to some musician members in my family. Yes Salif is God Gifted. The emotion he can bring with his voice is amazing. Even if I don't understand anything about what he is saying, lol.

  • the one and only Salif. God bless you.

  • HO my God i love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! merci salif for just being you!

  • Please. Friends, Sisters and brothers... Whatever you say to connect with people. Let's not spoil this beautiful piece of music with arguing which "imagine man in the sky" his the best odds right now. That's just what the people who suppres you want you to. Real music (like this) is the oasis of freedom that'd might bring us back together in being human.

  • my sisters and brothers in islam in africa ,i love you all ,big love from iraq.

  • Could you keep that religion out for a second? i am sick of people mixing their religion to connect with others. Can't you just call them your sisters and brothers from Africa?

Your religion, is in you and keep it there!

I am tired of that Islam/christian shit. You brought destruction and nothing else to our continent!

  • you are sick ,psycho

  • You are a psycho! So you cannot connect with others unless they share your supposed religion? Is that what you are all about then? So if they are not muslim does that means that they can suffer and be abused and it will just be fine for you?

  • i dont want any one in this world to suffer ,i didnt talk about suffering for non muslim ,i just said i love my african sisterd and brothers in islam ,

  • @Najwa6767 thats what he told you ,dont have to say islam for that

  • don't even answer man. nowdays if u say "islam", it's like a declaration of war LOL

Franchement, regarde comment tu as répondu; ct un peu violent non?

Can't he just say: Peace to all my brothers in Africa? So, the non Muslem, well they can burn for all he cares!

That was my issue! Some should try to look at the world without their religious bindfold; that to me is a problem!

Non? Keita est fantastique!

  • True, true, and true!!

  • Oups ! J'ai fait "thumbs down" par erreur ! Je suis tout à fait d'accord avec ce que tu as dit =)

  • Basically africans are animist. Christianism and muslim are coming from invaders. Animist means africans believe in soul power, respect of ancestors, soul surviving to protect the living people. Yes you are right are brothers and sisters. We respect our born religions but don't forget that first we are brothers and sisters. Perhaps then we'll to leave in peace.

  • @2learnabout

I would like to disagree. If Africans are animist, all others world religion are animist as well. For the christians, when they die, their soul go up to the sky to be judged by their christ. Same for the Muslims. All these religions are replication of egypto Nubian religions. Basically, the majors world religions have copied African religions and I find it amazing today that these institutions are claiming to convert us.

  • so Afriktoday, you agree, we are all the same. Don't disagree only to disagree.

  • @2learnabout You don't get me. I do not disagree to disagree! I am just saying that no people can teach us anything about god since our religions are the foundation of most others religions. To truly know ourselves and know god, we must begin by embracing our traditions and customs; because for me, christianity and islam are quite shallow and also weapons of imperialism.

  • @2learnabout @2learnaboutt

No religion called animist -- ( 'of animals') . We africans believe in Nature - Not animist, But Naturalist!! (agree ?). It is Africa that has the good history of christianity also. Ethiopia mentioned 40 times in holy bible - No England, No Spain, .. those people wr nt civilized enough to take up spirituality by then. First places whr Islam spread, is AFRICA (not by war but teaching ).

The main evil religion we inherited from Europeans is WAR!!

  • @dukiadd Dear, I never said that Animist was a religion please read carefully again. It's a behavior which is the central of african education and believe. I had to say Animist because that's the way it's called by western people. Call it nature if you like.

War it's not a religion but a state.

  • @dukiadd Not only Europeans, but all invaders. Invaders are plunderers, first and foremost. Some use their religions as justification against the " unbelievers"; thus providing them with an argument to kill, steal, and destroy. Leave religion aside and you get the real picture of what colonialism is all about. It is not about a particular people but all invaders in and out of africa!

  • @dukiadd perhaps current war technology was inherited from Europe but war and evil is common to all of human history, humans are the least peaceful of all species, and it has never, ever been any different.

  • Comment removed

  • @morrisdelarosa And so what ???

  • @2learnabout stop classifying people, 'Christianism and muslim are coming from invaders' the fact your christians forced them into this religion DOES not mean muslims did so.

  • @MuzotAi did you read all the post ? I don't think so. So listen to this wonderful music and pass your way.

  • @2learnabout peace and love to my brothers and sisters here and n Africa The Mother Land were i can only dream to go to one day

  • @KYMAMI I really hope you will go one day. Just coming today from 2 weeks holidays in africa. I've been living in France for more than 30 years. I can tell you "there's no place like home", mother home. peace!

  • @2learnabout

hello from South America, I can truly say I love this man and his musical expression, Thank you, Salif Keita for being in my life.

  • @2learnabout ;-))

  • @2learnabout I know that your post was a year ago, but I just discovered it now. I just want to say that you made such a beautiful and powerful statement. I agree with you 100%. I think that this is one of the nicest/best posts that I have ever read. Lord bless you and your family!

  • @Kralice4u Many Thanks! I just spoke with the heart. We're brothers and sisters. And we just don't realise it's the most powerful thing we've got. Unity and Peace peace peace, that's all we need! May God bless you too and your loving ones!

  • @2learnabout Ase and peace be unto you and yours.

  • @2learnabout yeah ?

    where u at ?

  • @togonumber Hi, if you're question is where do I leave? I leave in France. Regards

  • The song is about the late "Christ Seydou"

    a renowned stylist malian.

  • salif keita is a "griot"?

  • Actually, he is a noble... he shouldn't become a singer, because that's for griots. But fortunately he ignored that and gifted the world with his marvellous voice.

  • he says in the beggining ELEANOR RIGBY?

  • i don't think this is a song about deifying Christ because Keita is Muslim, although it could be a great song singing of Christ's miraculous life as a man and prophet of God.

  • lol, i meant "soul"

  • This is what I call "food for the souk". What an artist you are, Salif! Salif, you are the true son of Africa

  • bonjour,

  • Ala no leee, ala no leee ouii, ala le fama le ndali mansa ala saman fou. Ala magotee. • *** I meant that he is our pride***

  • ur right to be proud of him !! :-)

  • He is a great artist I have seen him in full action on stage at the Jazz fest in 2005. I have attended his press conferance after the concert. Salif is a humble man inspite of his great talents.

  • i'm not surprisd about that, i saw him at the Esperanzah festival , in 2005 in Floreffe, a world music festival, it was just great !!!! :-))

  • Salif is simply the best, he our pride - African pride. I love every piece of his music, Salif is the true son of Mali and Africa at large...keep entertaining us with the good music. Africa forever!

  • j'aime beaucoup Salif Keita

  • great musician and very strong music which reaches the heart!

  • How in the hell does one sing gay? What a ignorant statement! I wish that people would live and let others live as well. For Godsake we all human beings! I wish that some would start acting like it!

  • Just comment video/sound pleas:

5/5; just very nice all of his songs

    thank you for this upload.
