I'm an atheist, and I do a 5 day water fast twice a year. For me it's like cleaning out the body and giving it a rest. When it's over I feel clear minded, healthy and very cleansed. Whatever your reasons are, fasting can be very beneficial to your mind body and spirit, it's not all "religious mumbo-jumbo".. ;)

@HarunDanyal I do admire those with discipline, but not when something is taken to an extreme and endangers one's health - that is stupidity. I run 6km+ everyday but I'm sensible about it - I worked towards this and made sure I was eating/resting appropriately.

The benefits of fasting are still being researched/disputed and frankly, a fast of this length is very very dangerous and stupid. From at least a medical point of view. It is also selfish if you consider she has children to care for.

I'm Jewish and was diganosed with EDNOS(eating disorder not otherwise specified), which is basically, in my case, switching between two extremes of eating, overeating (3000 cals a day) and undereating(50-100 cals a day). I currently am dieting, and I really think you are doing AMAZINGLY with your fasting! It is so difficult for me (someone who gets panic attacks when I gain weight), and it just takes a lot of strength to do this. Not healthy, but definitely showing your loyalty to G-d.

I know these videos are yrs old but i wanted to tell you just how much they have helped me, i always believed in God but now I'm finding I want to get closer to him. I've also done one fast (only 10 days) but am now on my second fast (hoping to last longer then 7 days). I also am taking what you said about doing tasks and doing them with love for God. Example; If I clean the cat liter now i do it with love knowing it is for God and my cats. Well thanks 4 these videos, i watch some every day!!!!

This will be my last post until Passover is over in about a week. At that time, I will begin posting videos, documenting the second 40 day fast.

Because I am 149 pounds, I believe I still weigh enough to complete a second (spiritual) 40 day fast, without endangering my life/health.

For an undisclosed reason, I feel God directing me to go on a fast similar to the one Moses did (2 consecutive 40 day fasts). So, please pray for me to know God's will, and to have the strength to see it out.
