You should check the NBTV web site in uk. They sell some part for mechanical TV such as scanning disc, electronics and so on..They have some kit available also.
Well, normal CRT tube TVs, the kind used from the 1930s into the 2000s, use a big glass electronic tube to display what's basically a grid of electronic spots that can be turned on or off in various ways.
Mechanical TVs like this use a spinning disc with holes cut in it and a light behind it to display images. I can't really describe it better, as I find it a bit confusing myself.
there is a helix of rectangular metal bars alligned like a spiral. as the helix spins each bar is in a slightly different position to the viewer, so that as they move the image is scanning an x coordinate and a y coordinate, like a graph.now the light hitting the spiral corresponds to the coordinate on the spiral as it moves so that as it spins really fast, there seems to be an image formed and then a picture is created!the camera can also use a helix shape that makes the image at that coordinate
so to get more lines you make more cuts or thiner pieces of disc??on the old screw tvs where was the light source, was it on the side of the wheel? thanks alot this is so amazing, clearly you can see how electronic tv came from the work of mechanical tv, thats how you could understand a scanning x and y coordinate over the cathode tube, amazing, i know its complex, but makes it so easy to understand how tv and everything works. thanks alot!i would love to make the reflecting mirror mechanical tv
thanks ill check it out, i might have already been there because i have been trying to research this for a month now, thanks alot! your work is really important! if one day digital tv was to just stop working, because of a virus or economic collapse, you could still build a mechanical tv to transmit information without the digital component and with great picture quality!!! it would be neat to hook this up to a radio transmitter and broadcast to a reciever lol. i am so impressed by this!!
i need someone to help with the building of the scanner, as im not sure where to get any parts for it?

Still at that time the idea was genius.

What you describe is the mirror screw system that you can see on my web site at the appropriate page.

Wow that must be hard to for the engineers to make that invention at that time.

yea check out franchute63 website! its really amazing stuff, its amazing that people were able to get things working like this back then!

Wow ! Congratulations again !
Big different with my 32 lines I got.

Thanks Daniel. I will continue to work on trying to get more quality and less brigthness down during compression steps.

Thanks a lot for the comments. I believe you can get more on this and the way it works on my website pages.
