I was at the Cellars too!! Great stuff all round - strong excellent support from David Rachael Band as well. Got lazy and missed them at Sutton Boom-Boom Club. Regrets.....thanks for the tour to John Roberts I presume....
As a violinist, David has been an inspiration to me since I watched them at one of their very first gigs. He and the whole band are awesome! Thanks for all the great music.
Ironic that I just accidentally discoverd a site today about Alan Watts yet I dont think youtube comments allow weblinks and in it was soundtrack backed with It's a Beautiful Day's music while flying over San Francisco, where I just spent the holiday period of 2010-2011. I talked to David LaFlamme around 1976 backstage where I saw the group perform this number at Produce Row in the east Portland Oregon waterfront blocks. It was an honor to talk to him. He casually spoke like a great sage then.
did that say the 20th or 30th anniversary on the banner on the front of the stage ?? says class of 1969 but can't read the lower part of the number 1969 + 20 = 1989 which looks about right the video camera was huge..don't think this was 1999
Heard this for the first time in '70 at the Terrace Ball Room, SLC, UT ... listened to it ever since then in some tough times when I needed to escape; and it was ... beautiful ... then ... and now ... thank you for all the memories :-)
@lancetop this video was in youtube before then it was taken out it is from woodstock 2 then there was a dogstock video with a partial clip of IABD from woodstock 2 then it came back
Daeusto, I am envious on all three groups! That must have been an epic concert! As to the song White Bird, it is unequivocally one of the very best songs ever written and performed. Its beautiful, plaintive melody and lyrics, compels one to just "let go", and immerse oneself in another world. That world being the open, exciting, and provocative 1960s. I love this song!
One of the first concert i went to at the fillmore east . They where on the bill. What i remember most .Girl singer was wearing a see thru white hippie dress and naked under it. And when the stage lights where on her you could see right through it. I was a kid and was mezmerized
@TheChiFlows rock concerts were banned at carnegie hall after the beatles performed there and the fans were jumpin on their seats until chicago and its a beautiful day recorded live albums there in the 70s
I hear ya, realitytourist. The jam's gone and replaced with a cheesy ending. Speaking as a musician, sometimes you just can't step in the same river twice... maybe this group just doesn't feel it.... or HE doesn't feel it with this group... who knows.
@Realitytourist yea they really extended it on the live at cARNEGIE HALL LP but here at woodstock 2 they had 2 stages there mqy have been time constrants
This song has haunted me for years. Always found it so beautiful and didn't know who did it. Thank you so much for putting this on You Tube. (Child of the 1960's)
I remember a song in my 'hippie youth daze' that went something like, 'waiting to die'. then it eventually morphed into 'to die waiting', or something like that. All I can barely remember is that we were mellowing out on IABD at the time, and someone put that song on. Never heard it since? Or was I trippin'? I know I was lookin at the LP cover at the time. I really dug TIME IS and LOST IN PARADISE, and really dug this vid a lot! Thanx!!! :)
in missoula montana, too. moved there in 71 from cal. IABD used to play at the Top Hat, legendary hippie, counterculture hangout. one of the few things i really miss from there.
on their way, from south to north, from time to time they lost the direction, always looking for schweinefleisch, bier and goodlooking , young women, and so on,
And torpedo4711 is over 98 years old. Can you imagine how young this lady is looking. That is the hunn blood of the Berliners. They live rather deep in the east ; not far till Moscow and Ulan Bator.
IABD is simply the best band to come out of the 60's. My teacher gave me their first record in 8th grade.I still put that record on and problems & stresses just disappear.
1969. . after freshman year at UNC, five of us ran away from home to be hippies in Waikiki for a summer. Living in Koa Cottages, at the intersection of Liliuokalani and Ohua, 2 blocks from the beach, we took many trips with the flower children to this song. Blind Faith, Vanilla Fudge, Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane. . . those were the days.
what do you mean, when Patti was alive, do you mean the singer in the video? Please reply, that lady reminds me of my old friend, Tonita, who lives in Illinois. Brenda
Just to tell you HE IS NOT A NUT BUCKET! he does not manage apartment or do wedding gigs in a tuxedo... how would i know this u ask? HE IS MY UNCLE! god...
Wonderful! I saw them back in the early seventies(Charlotte,NC) along with several other bands. They were great and everyone in the crowd loved them.Of course I was a hippie and music lover, those were the days.Has Patti Santos always been with the band?
I saw them in San Antonio around 1969....on the same bill with Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and John Mayall Blues Band....they blew everyone away.....this is still one of my favorite songs of all time.....
