Am i right or wrong,can someone help me out here, i was under the understanding that refugee status is to be or supposed to be declared at the first point of arrival which i gather in Indonesia? Anything after that is movement by illegal boat smugglers and knowingly by the people paying for it....why aren't they applying for asylum in Indonesia they will be safe,its a major Muslim country.....help me out!

Let them in and their families are queued up back in indonesia ready to join them over here and once again our weak kneed government will give in to people smugglers or those who get what they want by lies, deceit, violence and intimidation. the so called boat people debate is really a platform for people to express racist sentiment. people who are against asylum seekers just want to limit the amount of brown and asian faces in australia
These commentators are very good on getting up on their high horses, and pontificating like bleeding hearts about why it's so good for Oz to accept these people .. who may or may not be genuine refugees. Money & corruption are never far apart, & these boat people PAY to air-travel to this part of the world, then hop in a leaky boat. BUT - how would ANY of this panel like to have muslim boat people living next-door to them .. especially this smart-arse comedian.
