  • I love this adhesive as well...I was using ultrhold, but it was getting sticky after a few For soaking the edges to remove mastix p, would you recommend mastix p remover, 99% alchol, or pure acetone? I ask because acetone is cheaper...lol, but I dont want to damage my unit.

  • Thanks! Great question! First I recommend a layer of blue tape over the P to increase hold and cut down on clean up & residue left in the lace. First soak just the edges in 91% alcohol. If necessary follow with Mastix P remover on a cotton ball or spray on from a small spray bottle. Acetone may leave the hair feeling stiff if used to soak. Hope this helps! Thanks!!

  • How often should I seal my knots?

  • I seal after every other wash. However, if you have only one wig, seal after every wash to maintain.

  • How long will this adhesive hold?

  • It depends on the oiliness of your skin, the climate you live and your activity level. It lasts for at least 2 weeks for me - working out weekly, living in a humid climate and combination skin. Hope this helps!

  • Someone asked me about swimming and what adhesive I use - I use sticky red liner tape on the roll all around (sold at ShopLaceWigs online) and then I use Mastix Matte to diminish the shine in the front and to adhere any edges that the tape did not reach.

  • Density is the same - stock density 85-90% at hairline, 100% at crown, 95% at nape.

It came with the smaller bottle. Did you order a large bottle first? You can order a small bottle or simply use a makeup brush or paint brush - just be sure to soak and clean the brush in 91% alcohol or the remover after completing your application.

  • Thanks KimKate84 and alcutiepie27! I agree with alcutiepie27's response. Regarding what to do with your hair underneath - you may braid it, wrap it, lay it as flat as possible for a natural look. See my blog for more info: LaceWigsHouston * wordpress * com Thanks!!

  • Hi..what density is the wig you're wearing now? And what density is the wig you wore when you did the basic lace wig installation video...it kind of looks like the same one you have on in this vid...just making sure. Also I ordered mastix p from you and didn't get the brush you were using in the demo vid on basic installation. Where did you get that particular brush you were using to apply the spirit gum in your basic lace wig installation video?

    Thanks

  • This was soo helpful..i am like 2 weeks from getting my first lace wig..but im so fussy i keep going back and forth.

One question i wanna ask..is that does it damage the natural hairline..I have quite a damaged hairline already, which is why im resorting to a lace front.

Also, once the wig is put on with adhesive, does it stay firmly in place..

And lastly..(forgive my essay)...What is the best thing to do to natural hair to make it look as flat as possible under the wig..

    Your gorgeous!!

  • I know you weren't asking me but I noticed that you never got a response. Um, with lace fronts I recommend trying them on. They are like shoes. Not all of them are going to fit nor will they all be to your liking. It does not damage the natural hairline. You put the glue in front of the hair line and like 1/4 in out. I use the glue instead of the tape and it really does stay locked in place. For my hair underneath the wig, I just use a stocking cap. Hope that helps!!

  • i cant seem to glue my wig down right i think my wig is not the right size or is it normal to have difficulty the first time trying to put one on

  • You are not alone! There is definitely a learning curve. I have a few videos coming soon that will address the basics - make sure that your skin is free of oil (use 70-99% alcohol) , allow the adhesive to become "tacky" not completely dry... Email me if you need specific advice. Thanks for posting a comment!

  • Thank you so much - I'm buying my first laces so I love you being so generous with information

    THANK YOU

  • My pleasure! You have perfect timing because we have a 15% off sale for all in-stock lace wigs through the end of MAY 2009 (code: 4mother). I am wearing a stock wig in the video. Thanks!

  • your hair looks natural. most chicks i see with "laceys" on look fake as hell

  • Thanks so much! More videos coming soon!

  • Girrrl, I love it too. Its not messy at all. Dont you like not having to wait for it dry before you attach wig? Good video

  • Thanks Munshkins! Wait unitl you see my new video featuring tape and liquid adhesive! Girl you can run for days without that wig budging LOL!

  • What style wig are you wearing? I went to the site but saw none that looked like yours. You look beautiful by the way! Please help.

  • Thanks! I am wearing a 16" #1B Yaki Straight from our STOCK Fashion line. Visit our "Contact Us" page online at ShopLW*com if you need help placing your order. Thanks!

  • Thanks for yor question. This depends on the oiliness of your skin, your acitivity level (do you exercise, etc) and the climate in which you live. For me, I get a 2-3 week hold with minimal lifting. Check out my blog at LaceWigsHouston*wordpress*com for more information on the pros and cons of various lace wig adhesives and other general lace wig information. Thanks!

  • how long does this one last

  • HELP! I JUST SAW YOUR VID. I'm having aN adhesive problem. got my lace a mNth ago. but find that adhesive is not staying for more than 2 days. my front hair line becomes very itchy, forced to remove my lace my scalp is then very very irritated , burns when a use solvent and lace remover and developed dark line around my hair line, tried applying my lace about 5 times now. i seem to be very allergic to the adhesive and tape. any suggestions? thx hun.

  • Wow! I am so sorry to hear of all the challenges that you are dealing with. I remember wanting to cry the first time I tried to put my wig on myself. I wrote a blog that has a lot of information on adhesives and lace wigs in general. Check it out at LaceWigsHouston*wordpress*com. You can also email me with specific questions. I'll offer any help that I can. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the video. I loooove the wig. The quality is great.

Also, may I say that you have an amazingly beautiful smile, sister girl. Wow!!!

  • Aww, thanks! There are more vids to come!!

  • can you go swimming in it?

  • Yes. But I would not on a regular basis. Chlorine and salt water are very drying to the hair. On vacation or every now and then - no problem. Swimming on a weekly basis - not a good idea if you have a lot of hair underneath your wig. If you are balding or have very little hair underneath, swimming on a regular basis should pose no problem.

  • how long do you wear your lace wig? and can you wash it while you are wearing it?

  • I wear my lace wig for 2-3 weeks at a time. NEVER longer than 3 weeks for proper hygiene and to wash my own hair.

Yes, you can wash it while wearing. I do not because it is difficult for the shampoo, etc to penetrate through to my own hair. If you have thining hair or alopecia, washing the unit on your head is definitely an option if you have applied with a waterproof adhesive. The only time that I wash on my head is if I am on vacation and swimming. Otherwise, I remove and reapply. Thanks!

  • Can you pretty pleeeeease tell me what you use to apply your wig for swimming.

  • how much hair do you actually have ?

im afraid of getting adhesive on my hairline .

is it bad if i do ?

  • My hair is shoulder length and Rudy Huxtable in texture :) I was born meant to wear lace wigs with a Tyra fivehead LOL

I am VERY careful not to get adhesive on my hairline (I can't afford to lose any of it LOL) Get adhesive on your hairline = loss of hair. The only exception to the rule = Mastix Spirit Gum. That is why I love it! If spirit gum gets on your hair, simply spray 91% alcohol and allow the alcohol to dissolve the adhesive.

  • that colour suits you very nice!

    thanks for the video

  • How sweet! Thank you for taking the time to post a comment.

  • nice lace wig u have ...:)

  • Thanks so much! Check out ShopLaceWigs * com in 2009 for the latest in silk lined, hidden knots, gorgeous hair from Malaysia, Europe, Italy, Burma, Brazil, Mongolia, and India!

  • Do you where a wig cap under your wig?

  • Yes, it helps seal in moisture for my natural hair and gives the illusion of scalp on the lace wig no matter how it is parted or which way the wind blows.

  • Did u shave back your hairline?

  • No, I just have enough area in the front to attach my wig in front of my hairline.

  • Yes, I workout a minimum of three days a week and I SWEAT! I tie my perimeter down when I workout and I leave it tied down until after I have showered. Hope this helps! Thanks again for the questions...keep them coming!

  • Do you go to the gym...I workout and dont want the adhesive to become loose

  • i know that silk tops are the newest thing on the market but how can you create a natural looking part without it?

  • Yes, silk tops are amazing and ShopLaceWigs has a new line of custom silk lined lace wigs that can be dyed to match your scalp color! To answer your question: "how can you create a natural looking part?" You can use a nude colored wig cap underneath you wig, bleaching the knots and applying a flesh colored concealer in the part are all ways to give the illusion of scalp when the wig is parted in any direction. HTH!

  • Oh yeah, what color is your lace and what type of lace are you wearing? Thats my one issue, I'm worried about the lace not matching...THANKS! Your unit looks great!!!

  • Hi Mzbonitap,

Thank you! This is a regular, stock unit from ShopLaceWigs. All stock units (including the one in the video) come with light brown French lace. Bleached single knots at the naturally shaped hairline/perimeter and double knots throughout. Thanks again for the questions! Don't forget to check us out ShopLaceWigs online.

  • Exactly, how do you apply your adhesive? Do you literally mix them together in a separate container? If so, what are the proportions and how many layers do you use?

  • I have a video coming soon that will show you the process step by step. In the meantime, check out my online blog for written tips and application info.

  • Thanks for the questions! Yes, I mix 50/50 both adhesives in a separate container that I then use for my applications. I have a video response that I am preparing to post that I believe will clarify this.

  • you look absolutly wonderfully gorgeous

  • Thanks so much! More tips to come! In the meantime check out my blog at lacewigshouston *wordpress *com!

  • You look amazing!! Very natural! I'm new to lace front wigs but your vids/tuts help. Keep em coming. My mama always told me that if you can't acheive it weave it, if you can't grow it sew it (ha ha) just a little humor to put a smile on all youtubers faces. Can't wait for the tut on how you apply the wigs. Also where do you get them? from online or at your local beauty store?

    Thanks

    fan,

    ~Truly
