Wow, you can't actually walk on water, what a surprise!

You know, more speed would not make it work, because running at higher speed requires more force backwards, and thus more force downwards as well. More speed is good if you try to go waterskiing, because the force downwards will be the same, but that is not the case when you are running.

With enough speed you could be able to slide on still water for a while (just like waterskiing without skiis), but you can't run that fast.

Theoretically if you can hit the water at the right speed the surface tension will hold it together and push back. Thats a basic law of physics. This is how certain insects and reptiles can walk onwater. additionally water is like air. just different molecular design and heavier one too.
