  • magic

  • Thank you for this video. My mother is crazzy to them. She said what a music, we were dance like madddddd

  • Our irreplaceable Ella and Satchmo have been gathered into Heaven for a good while now. We love them, we miss them, but we can still hear their perfect style, rhythm, swing, and irrepressible joy in every note. There is a reason that big perfect diamonds are so valuable....it's because they only come along once in while. Here are the two perfect diamonds of our time.

  • Forget about those 5 people. They just prefer another song from Louis and Ella... Nobody can dislike this magical duet :)

  • mhmm....thats that sweet nectar for your ears.

  • : )

  • my poor 25 year old heart.ill never see her live.DAMN!

  • @HERBLANDZ i Know! what a shame we wont be able to witness such passionate beauty!

  • When I saw Porgy and Bess a few years ago (probably when I was 11) at the Opera House I was so dissapionted to find out that it wasn't them! I had grown up with their version and immediately assumed it would be them. As soon as I heard the cast's voice I kind of went, "What's wrong with their voices?". I figured it out eventually. :( @wvanderwahl It certainly is a treat to listen to them, and i love them together so very much.

  • mmm beautiful <3

  • a musica negra americana é a melhor de todas, ainda mais quando se juntam dois monstros sagrados.divina!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can someone please upload Ella and Louis singing «A Foggy Day»?

  • Esto es mucica,

  • So what the Savoy? A cinema? Dancing hall? Boxing ring?

Oh! And "hoot, hoot! Fitzgerald and Armstrong!"

  • das ist musik

  • WOW... Magnificent!

  • Savoy, the home of sweet romance,

Savoy, it wins you with a glance,

Savoy, gives happy feet a chance to dance.

Your old form just like a clinging vine,

Your lips so warm and sweet as wine,

Your cheek so soft and close to mine, divine

  • esa si es música no como la porquería del regueton

  • What a wonderful duet!

  • Oh ! Yes ! so good !

  • THE 4 ASSHOLES THAT GAVE THIS A THUMBS DOWN SHOULD BE EXECUTED. IMMEDIATELY

  • Priceless, the King and Queen of scat singing together. Love each one on their own also. Ella is not to be matched, just as Johnny Mathis isn't either to this day. Sure do thank you for bringing great music to our ears again. I'm 71, so I know good music when I hear it...there just isn't any anymore except JM. Is Ella still around?

  • SEARCH LOURDES TRUJILLO SUMMERTIME

  • Wonderful. Terrific.

  • I have this on vinyl. I love it.

  • Absolutely amazing mucis...Cannot compare to today's music. I say that as a 19yo m who loves techno, rock and pop/charts. I still find this absolutely exquiste music with a quality not found today

  • I, being a 17 year old, totally agree with you man ;)

  • @dannyisdos yes sir, i Love like almost ALL Music, and Rock and Pop and other stuff, its all great. but my favourite is old Sinatra and other Jazz musicians like Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, and Sammy Davis, and Dean Martin, and many many more...they all are truely amazing, and i wish that this kind of music WAS more popular today. too bad... =/

  • @dannyisdos I am 19yo and I feel the same way as you feel. I have always loved music but until today I never went it depth of my favorite artists inspiration.

  • @dannyisdos

there is still alot of quality music being produced these days, you just got to look in the right places to find it as most of it is not made for the commercial, money driven industry ;-) but yes, ella, billie, louis etc are amazing! love them :)

  • @dannyisdos That quality...it's called "talent."

  • I made a request for someone to post this about a year and a half ago now, and someone has. Thank you so much. This is music at its very best. So much improvisation. This is the dogs bollocks. Thank you. Mmmmmm. There you go.

  • I agree with wvanderwahl

  • the best

  • O thanks so much for posting :) What a treat!!! They sure sounded like they enjoyed each other. Glad to be able to expose my teenage son too it...

  • Yeah, yeah, yeah.

    Mighty sweet right here!!!!

  • tuturiri,didi,burubidibi, geniales grandes...

  • The god and goddess have sung. God, they were amazing on their own, but together a rare exquisite treat, a delight for the ears, they were truly magical and so elegant and refined. Why are todays artists like these two?

  • @wvanderwahl totally agree!!!!!!

  • What a great singing couple. Would have been cool had they been romantically involved too & married! :) But they were just friends

  • My misunderstanding wolf, yes you are right. Music these days does tend to follow a three chord and you are famous trend.

  • meraviglioso!!

  • Musical quality may not have gone down, it just changed. Jazz is a required taste not everyone likes it just as some dont eat meat or pizza !

  • I'm not talking about taste but about the skill of the artists and the complexity and inventiveness of their music.

  • The musical quality of pop-music has gone down since the great days of jazz and I wonder why.-

  • It hasn't really gone down but the zeitgeist has changed, and along with it goes musical taste. You can still find great artists today, you just have to look a bit harder :).

  • I am willing to learn. Give me some names. But don't name the surviving artists from yesterday (like Cleo Laine) and not those simply continuing the jazz-tradition without adding anything new.

  • i don't think the quality of overall jazz has fallen. It's just that they were damn good we look bad :\ yeah but as i drummer i think drumming has progressed a far way in jazz in that it's now more about syncopation and the rhythms are more complex. just look at ari hoenig. it's innovative new but good but yeah. we shouldn't compare ourselves w/ the great masters themselves.

  • But yeah i think "mainstream" music has turned more into storytelling not really musicality. but yeah there are still definitely some awesome music out there today. so this isn't for everything

  • they dont make it like this anymore that stuff now is not music

  • the best voice ever. With 15 years or with 80 ... only adorable

  • Qué grande era "Satchmo"!!!!

  • i più grandi di tutti i tempi....

  • To think this is a rehearsal take...and Norman added it to the album

  • meraviglioso. non c'è più niente da dire, tranne ke la classe non è acqua

  • They are timeless, for all generations. That's Oscar Peterson on the piano-he is awesome too.

  • Please do not think that we can ignore this.

Ella is the best singer I have ever listened to by a long way.

Do not get better than that

  • Mate, I agree with every word that you said. Ella is marvelous! And I'm Brazilian, which means I know really good female singers of my own country as well! But when it comes to jazz, Ella is the best!

  • SO good.

  • I love this music, it was passed on to me, and I passed the love of it on to my kids too.

  • OY that's it I'm out there buyin' this record. Beeeyutiful.

  • Ella was literally the best. Her scat is unbelievable.

  • Would this be considered Motown? Just wondering...

  • No stiz, it would generally be considered Jazz, Motown was a particular record label. It's golden period during 1961 to 1971.

  • I simply love this song

  • Don't they just have beautifully classic voices?

  • Makes you wonder how this music was forgotton :(

  • Pure voice + pure brass = pure Gold.

  • When music was music.

  • Music will always be music.
