The Las Vegas Casinos and Amtrak have been trying to restore service between LA and Vegas, but so far to no avail.... BNSF wouldn't consider it until the third Main was done through Cajon, UP wanted a new siding built and environmental studies done, now that that's all done Amtrak doesn't have enough equipment. It'll all just keep revolving until the stars align one day and everything falls into place.
POLITICS!! POLITICS!!! When the Politicians finally got their heads out of their asses and cleared the way for the service to start WSDOT had gotten the jump on them and bought the equipment, now we're able to provide funding and trackage for the service but don't have equipment. Stupid selfish bastards politicians are. (I feel much better now!)
@CoasterFan2105 um hate to burst ur bubble but ive seen the las vagas talgo in portland, oregon and in the cascades so many times that i don't think its rare.just so you know. kk
@masonclan And now I will return the favor by informing you that the Las Vegas talgo set was REPAINTED into cascades in early 2004 and renamed the Mt. Adams. So yeah, I'm sure you've seen it hundreds if not thousands of times....
Originally the fifth Talgo trainset was slated for service between LA and Las Vegas, and it was painted Blue and Silver to match the Surfliner Locomotives since they would power it.
The Vegas service never happened and the trainset passed time in Surfliner service until it was purchased by WSDOT and pressed into Cascades Service. It served the Vancouver-Seattle run in its Blue and Silver "Las Vegas" attire until it was repainted into Cascades Colors in late 2004 and named "Mt. Adams".
Promotional trips and time trials were taken to Vegas, but revenue service never happened. I believe the Las Vegas Platform is still partially constructed.

This is the Edgewater Inn hotel in Seattle, WA! I saw almost the same thing, only from a ground view room and 509 leading.

@Jaanfo Hopefully with the new Talgo sets on order they can restore service (like it's going to happen - __ -)
GintaPPE1000 9 months ago
@GintaPPE1000 There never was service to begin with. It was only a trial.
CoasterFan2105 9 months ago
@CoasterFan2105 Then hopefully the start it
