I think it's actually the opposite. For example, us Croatians have small military. Our boys go in Afghanistan, but they have never (~300 of them) been in a gunfight. While Americans, how many of them have been killed? Few thousands. In developed countries, you have to be VERY good because there is higher selection than in Croatia, where everyone is accepted (OK, almost everyone). I don't think joining an army has anything to do with "balls", it's just the love for your country. ;)

Unfortunately not, I don't know what it's like in the US, but in britain there is a generla veiw that sometimes there is something you have to fight for, it dosn't come down to one man. Sometimes there is no way to solve a situation. And I disagree with the black and white attitude, weather or not they served, leaders of nations fear sending men to war, they know the carnage it results. I'm sure the disision to go to Iraq and Afgan will haunt Blair for the rest of his life.

As for politicians caring about going to war...not at all, least of all Tony Blair. Blair cares less about the wars he and Bush have caused than he does what he's getting for breakfast the next morning.

I think it's actually the opposite. For example, us Croatians have small military. Our boys go in Afghanistan, but they have never (~300 of them) been in a gunfight. While Americans, how many of them have been killed? Few thousands. In developed countries, you have to be VERY good because there is higher selection than in Croatia, where everyone is accepted (OK, almost everyone). I don't think joining an army has anything to do with "balls", it's just the love for your country. ;)

What I like about this video is how it shows both the best and worst parts of the US Army. It shows heroism, and prisoner abuse. It shows courage and dedication and religious persecution and abuse of power. All in all, one of the best videos I have ever seen on Youtube for its display of both faces. But what about the many Iraqi's "detained" in prisons across southern Iraq with only the most minimum shreds of evidence, such as being in the wrong place at the wrong time? Those people live and have lived in hellish conditions, and many have died in those conditions, or have been broken beyond all hope of repair.
