I'm not sure how anyone who teaches in a public school could watch this movie and say it's not realistic... Where do you teach because I'd like to transfer there! I think the caricatures of teachers/students portrayed in this movie are pretty great - yes, it's satire and yes, it's exaggerated (that's what a caricature is), but it easily and amusingly captures the essence of what it means to be a public school teacher. I highly recommend this movie!
i am a teacher and I thought this movie was hilarious and true. I'm not sure if you are a teacher in PUBLIC school. I teach in public school and I can assure you the comedy comes from it being so true. It was made in Austin, TX by public school teachers.
@chtbjunkie62: Yeah. I remember I bought it when it was first released, and (as a teacher) I was a bit disappointed. I can't remember now what exactly I didn't like about it, but I ended up selling my copy online. It was funny... just not... real? Maybe. Not sure. I'd give it 3.5/5 stars.
yeah it was actually my teacher who showed us another video and CHALK trailer played before and said he would get it cuz it looks funny. he got it and said it was really dissapointing. didnt exactly explain why it was so bad. u mean it was.. unrealistic? possibly bad acting. idk.
This movie was based off of the teachers at my highschool in Harrison Arkansas. I knew a few of them before they retired, so this movie is hillarious because they switched genders so instead of Ms. Stroop its Mr. Stroop, ect.
what the goverments doesnt care for in students is that we can be stright up bookworms, we should first understand our bodys before we try to master the mind.
ill tell u why kids act up, And we have no respect it is cause we are brought up out of anger and hate.. With all this build up aggresion of being alone and not knowing who you are we are being forced to go to school and learn when we really dont have a idle concept or pride in what we are! why do u think the early civilaztions did so good, The idea of honor. japan is a really good economy because of its individual honor...
westerners have no realistic concept of schooling asia - you think american schools are oppressive? how about being forced to wear uniforms from middleschool through highschool, going to afterschool academies going home at 11:30 at night, getting a beating if your haircut and hair color are not to regulation - the reason asian are disciplined is because all the adolescent shit is beat out of them - not because of lofty ideas of honor.
Japan doesn't have individual honor, it's group honor, it's family honor. Japanese businessmen will put the business before their family, working long hours without ever seeing their kids. Kids will move out of their parents homes and move in with strangers just to go to the best school that their last school said would be good for what their last school said their career should be. They don't get to pick what they want to be when they grow up.
As a former teacher, who now teaches in an outdoor classroom, I've only seen half the movie and I'm really enjoying it. I had no idea Spurlock did it, it's great!
Sorry, Spurlock didn't do it. He just loved the film and "approved" of it. Alot of times film companies like having a familar name to stamp on their movies. They do the same thing with Tarintino. Like that movie "old boy" He didn't have anything to do with the film, he just liked it so they put his name on the dvd cover.
MY Teacher MADE this movie, how awsome is that!!! With the help of his good friend, another teacher *history/pals, MR. MOSS!! TRTV 4 LIFE, lol!!! (HI, MR. AKEL)

Does ANYONE know the name of the song that plays when the awkward teacher just had a fight with one of the students and takes a walk?
The lyrics are something like, "I'll wait at the port, dock 21 car 24. I'm ready to board, so take me away to so much more..."
