are these guys using smaller canopies than your average skydiver? (hence their speed)

Yeah they look to be low 100's (square foot) if not like in the 90's. Smaller the canopy, more high performance they are. Takes a lot of time in the saddle to properly fly these bad boys.

i ride a nav 280 as im 18 stone, does all i want,lol!!!!! the AFF instructors did have to wear weight belts to keep up!,lol, a faster more extreme freefall i get they said....

I will stick with my 170 for now. Maybe after 12,000 jumps and gradual decrease in the size of their main canopy it's responsive enough to fly to where they feel capable of handling high-precision turns. Judgements are based on past experiences. As long as they are prepared and feel capable then go for it--not for me (right now atleast)
