Hy, I'm new and I want to buy myself a decent mouthpiece. What size do you recommend? I,m going to play in a fanfare if it helps with something. Is a 32,7 mm to big?

@Apokolohypnotis That depends on a variety of factors. No single mouthpiece is the best for everyone. Every person is different. I think the Miraphone TU25 is a 32.7 mm mouthpiece. I play a Perantucci PT88 which is 33.5mm and very large and bowl-shaped. Take a look at the Conn-Helleberg 120S at 32.5mm but that doesn't take into account all the possible factors of you and your playing.

@EcclesiasticusRex Perantucci is the one I saw and liked, Perantucci Canadian Brass Arnold Jacobs tuba mouthpiece, cup diamter 32,7mm, bore 8,5mm, 174g weight, deep cup, small rim with a sharp edge. What I like about this one that is a deep cup, small rim and sharp edge. I have big lips (I don't know if it matters) and I played euphonium. What do you say about this one? Conn-Helleberg 120S seems fine, looks alike the one I said.

@Apokolohypnotis You might try the Perantucci PT48. Perantucci also has wide-rim mouthpieces specifically for people with "big lips" but I don't recall all of those model numbers (I think the PT62 is one of them). Bach 12 is a 32.75 mm mouthpiece too. I think the PT24 has the widest rim from Pernatucci but that's a smaller mouthpiece. The Schilke 69C4 is around 32.76 mm as well. I have a mouthpiece spec sheet that lists 355 different tuba mouthpieces.

@jaltmane Yeah. I have made myself a slave to the metronome many times in my life. For everything there is a time. Eventually, I will again.

@florestiner12312 Yeah, I agree. I had to take a couple of months off for a variety of reasons and have started up again just recently. I've been really trying to play them with more control. I'll have a new version up in another week or so.
