Martin retirate y vete a tomar clases mas seriamente.
Hey Martin, very nice work on the congas, you have excellent 'feel' and technique. Good to see, because a lot of people from europe I have seen playing congas on YT are often lacking that. You have obviously learned from masters in Cuba and Africa. I can recognise that because I have studied percussion in both those places too. Good work! Many stars...
For the life of me, I can't get that slap to happen anywhere close to what guys like this produce. Its such an important accent, and I haven't figured it out yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Loved this, got new little chop out of it! Aha getting that slap! I practiced this for hundreds of hours. The best tip I can give is; does not take as much pressure as you think, actually the more relaxed the hand is at the right angle close to the head, the nicer the pop, and no injuries. Of course the tuning on you quinto, and the thickness of skin matters too. Too thin a skin gets ringy.
Lot's of cheater ways to slap, learn the correct way! Takes time and practice!
CrustyCurmudgeon If you want to develop your technique, especially your slap, I recommend you find a master player or at least a very accomplished player to learn directly from.
@CrustyCurmudgeon hope your slap is getting better. i used to sit in front of the t.v for hours watching football games and practing my slaps and heal toe exercises. when the game got exciting my slaps got louder. might work with a horror movie too. hang in there, eventually it all clicks into place.
great lesson...to the beginners out there complaining - it can t be clearer..watch carefully over and over and everything is shown and explained..so don t critisize and pay respect...

if you wanna get the slap relax your hand in the middle of the drum then with 3 or 4 finger hit the side of the drum
