one of the best talks. I just realized how true what he was talking about when I asked my Indian friend, who is a Christian, if she was gonna have an arranged marriage someday and if she can marry someone who is not an Indian. she then said in reply, "If God really wants me to marry him, then I will. My family just have to deal with it. cause God says so. it's not my fault!" WOW. She said God says so when it was actually her lust&desire which said so, and she never even realized that. poor girl

The first utterance of Buddha after his enlghtenment "How sure his pathway in this wood, Who follows truth's unchanging call! How blessed, to be kind and good, And practice self-restraint in all! This is a verse from Dhammapada, the Buddha states, "Only a few men reach the shore (Nibbana), all the rest merely run about on this shore (samsara) This shore is non other than the 5 aggregates we call "self". Buffetedby the winds of cravings, being run hither and thither on this shore. Unable to fathom the origin of their suffering, they stumble from lifetime to lifetime.

In Devadaha Sutta The Buddha said to the monks

"When his concentrated mind is thus purified, bright, unblemished, rid of imperfection, malleable, wielding, steady and attained to imperturbability, he directs it to knowledge of the recollection of past lives. He recollects his manifold past lives, that is, one birth, two births.....Thus with their aspects and particulars he recollects his manifold past lives. Thus too Bikkhus (monks), the exertion is fruitful, the strving is fruitful.

They start with talks about sun and the moon and eventually they will tell to achive that whatever you have to become a monk!

And soon you will find yourself walking down the streets of Bangkok, dressed in stiny rags, barefoot, AND KISSING THE FEET OF LOCAL MONKS!

C'mon there should be a better way to be happy and succeed in this life than getting down to such low levels!

Alfulani5. I think life for you is so miserable for you and you keep attacking others all over the place. You make yourself look ugly as a Muslim! Why are you so jealous about Buddhism? Please solve your own problems instead of checking on others! For goodness sake please read your Quran thoroughly before you speak. The proof is that the knowledge He attained about this recycled universes, thousands even million universes, also the process of your birth to this earth from the very beginning, since your father's sperm meet with your mother's ovum, and the process of your death, not when your heart beat stops or when your brain's dead. Check it out for your self.

We are given a small degree of freewill and tested. Whoever uses the intelligence and the limited freewill to find Allah and oby him, will be granted heaven in the afterlife.

From what I understand people do offerings to the statue of Buddha to show respect to his teachings and to practice non-attachment.

Example, if a person is attached to diamonds, by offering it away to the Buddha he manages to cut his attachment.

Feeling positive is something, but we must practice, train ourselves according to the Buddha's Dhamma. Otherwise, these talks are merely giving superficial benefits. The best way to reprociate the Ajhan is to see the 8foldpath and walk till the end. That's what a teacher really wishes for his students! =)
