You need a grinding wheel that is specifically made for grinding tungsten. A regular grinding wheel will not only wear out if it's used for tungsten, but will contaminate the tungsten if it was used to grind steel first.
You use a normal bench grinder to sharpen them, you would be there for hours with sandpaper. A quick Google or youtube search will show you how to grind one correctly.
I have always thought the ceriated were crap for aluminium, even though they are recommended for it by they manufacturer, I just use the thoriated.
I must get myself a packet of the lanthanated, they look pretty good.
Hi, what number of the sand paper did You use to sharpen these electrodes?. Can I sharpen it with a drill? Could You answer using easy words, because I'm from Poland and don't understand all words. Only number of the paper and yes or no (about sharpening with a drill) Thanks very much.
Stupid question, a friend of mine was saying some people have had success welding Aluminum on DC with a 75/25 mix of Argon/Helium....Have you heard of or performed a test to see if it works by chance?
Can I use 2% lanthanated electrodes on A/C with my transformer style TIG welder ? Or is it that you can use it with everything, and that the only difference is that you can keep a point on an inverter machine in A/C ?
I asked for some Lanthanated electrodes at my local welding supplier and they looked at me like I was stupid. Its annoying because though I am a raw beginner I read up on the different electrodes and Lanthanated seemed like the shiznits for me.

Hey littlestworkshop, --about 12 months ago I got .040,1/16,3/32,and 1/8th 2% Lanthanated from ARC-ZONE off the net.
I have also found that for my inverter machine the 2% Lanthanated is the best for everything.
My local shops don't have it ( and they want way to much money to order it)

Thanks for a great video!!!! This is most useful information.
Sometimes I get a FLASH up from my tungsten running high amps on 1/16th tungsten. Exceeding amp rating?
