wow! all you needed was 2 d batteries, masking tape, a heating element and electrical wire, items easily obtained in prison!

A lighter can easily be had with just a single AA battery and a staple, and if you can't get your hands on a staple, wrigley's chewing gum foil will work just fine. No need for all this mumbo jumbo.

Works faster, less finger burn, if u happen to have a stainless toillet. Hold the POS side down against the steel toilet, along with the wire between the batty and toilet. then place the other end of wire to the NEG side of the batty. Lot less finger tip burn waiting for the damned thing to warm up enough! Ya Damned fuckin' convicts, ya!

All that has to be done to light ANYTHING, is to take your AA battery. (Assuming that you are in County), and batteries are permitted for headset radio.

You HAE to know someone in laundry, or kitchen to get u a bread tie wire. All you hae to do is take the wire between the pos. and neg. on the battery. It will heat, turning red. You WILL burn your fingers at first, holding the wire to both posts. After all, u are 'shorting' the battery. light it up, and savor the flavor. BEEN THERE!

I watched a documentary last week - where a prisoner named 'Radio' (of course) put together 2 batterries from the prison guard's walkie talkies taped them together like above. he took the connector for the phone, split the wires on the other side and connected it to the phone and it was charging. Of course I'm guessing it didn't give him a full charge but good enough to make some deals , I'm guessing. Plus, he was charging other prisoners a pop to use his makeshift charger.

Two or more batteries in series will increase the voltage and in parallel will increase the amperage, A short occurs when there is no load on the power source, which is the point in this case, the batteries are shorted out which causes the wire to heat up enough to light the cigarette

An easy way to get a light in a cell is with a piece of cotton wrapped around the light bulb. It will begin to burn in about thre mins. Once you have your blackened cloth you can use it over and over again by simply melting a lighter flint in the end of a toothbrush and scraping the flint with razor blade. Direct the sparks to the blackened cloth and voila! Instant lighter. Put the whole lot in a small tin to make it portable. Simple really.

You really hit the nail on the head with what you stated. 95% of the lighters I have personally confiscated over the years have been the type you have described. On Units where batteries are disallowed, the inmates use disposable razor blades and a pencil stuck into an AC wall outlet.

I was in prison.. this video is so overdone.. we just took a AA battery put a bread tie from one end to the other.. it was that simple

but the faster way is to take a cue tip.. put the bread tie around the cotton part of the cue tip in a V shape and stick the V of the bread tie into a wall socket.. it goes POP and then the cotton of the cue tip catches fire and you light your cigarettes, joints, dope, etc

Yeah, use the AA battery, scratch a little coating off by the positive pole (cause under that coating its already the negative side) get a strip of foil off of a cigarette pack (that little shiny covering), make it thin and the length of a finger nail, put the two poles together and you got it. Also, for the wall sockets, you can also get the leads of a pencil if you dont have a wire tie.

take a AA battery you can even use AAA if you want and peel the label back on the negitive side so you get the bar metal then take less wire then he had and thinner put 2 coils in the middle of the wire and touch one end to the negitve end of battery and one end of wire to the bare metal that you exposed.
