I raised one foster child from the age 3-18. He was a demon at a young age but as the years went by his behavior improved. They wanted him to take adderall and several antidepressants.I refused it all. Once he hit the age of 14 everything went well. He is 21 now and other than getting a divorce he turned out to be a great law abiding man. These kids needs structure and a lot of individual attention.

This is so sad. It's heartbreaking to know that the children who need a safe, loving environment the most receive this kind of treatment. It sounds like these kids were being treated like criminals, when all they "did" was be born into a bad situation, and maybe have some behavioural/emotional issues as a result. What these kids need is heavy LOVE therapy. HUG therapy. LISTENING therapy.

These kids keep saying they just needed to TALK, and no one would talk to them. It just makes my heart ache

This is a true crime all cloaked in professional dignity. Drug fixation is particularly prevalent in the US. It's not like this everywhere. It is all wrong. Period! They just don't put the money toward true therapy which is all studied and laid out. True Community Psychology has long been ready to implement. But the money is wasted. Why is it called care? Really. To force a child to deal with life situations through drugs, does not teach achild how to deal with life as an adult. It teaches them to turn to drugs, whether prescribed or street drugs, when they become adults. Where is the government going to be for them when they no longer know how to deal with life situations when they are used to using drugs to get them through it? They will be looking at them behind bars.

I can tell you from my personal experience that zyprexa caused my diabetes. Before I took zyprexa, my health was perfect as documented by a thorough physical just prior to taking zypexa. I was presribed zyprexa "off-label" for OCD. I'm not against big pharma, prescription drugs or prescribing off-label, but Lilly shouuld be held accountable for this Off Label Promotion of this atypical antipsychotic.
