Mario Kart 7: Snaking is possible, but it doesn't help

Other regions are able to hack possibly but not ours,not to be racist but people in the japanese region are usually the ones who do really impossible things...they may be hacking:(

@natclayful If anything Japanese region players have less access to modchips, region specific files (important for DS chips) and similar. That said the 3DS has not been hacked in any useful capacity yet, and anything you've seen may be admissible as evidence of the fact Asians can kick our asses all the live long day in gameplay.

I think Nintendo coded it so it wouldnt work even if we managed to get the animation going. not sure how you can snake and it not boost you like in MK DS.

Im glad there is no real snaking (yet at least), i was real annoyed when i saw i couldn't race using the d-pad, being forced to use the stick thing sucks, i would probably wear the thing out after a months worth of snaking.

@GinbuMKDS Not sure if prb works in 7. I haven't tried it out yet, but proper snaking DOES make a difference (not as much as in DS though)

I love how people defend snaking because they think its hardcore. Yes it was more difficult than driving normally and yeah it would help you win...but honestly do you really want a racing game to be designed with the idea of swerving all over the place in order to drive faster? I'm really fucking glad you people aren't making games. Mario Kart 7 killed snaking, fucking suck it up and adapt. If you are so 1337, I'm sure you can handle playing a game without glitch advantages.

If you hate it so much, go back to GTA and GT on your xbox and playstation. The reason it was cheating was because retards wouldnt take the time to learn. I lost many times online until I learned to snake. And I'll have you know that using snaking I still managed to beat one of those hackers who use the unlimited blue koopa shell trick.

@shoskavitch Btw, you proved yourself wrong in the video: you actually started pulling ahead when you got used to snaking near the end. Your kart was clearly not faster and you didn't snake. You power slid through the corners and then at the end you started snaking. lol But yes, snaking has been toned down alot due to the controls being in the d-pad rather than the up/down-left/right control pad.

I've been gaming since the NES days and have beaten plenty of games that are 10x harder than anything today, don't just assume you know me and resort to baseless ad hominem attacks. Furthermore, I have learned how to snake and it isn't really that hard. My point was that its existence detracts from the point of the intended design of a racing game and as people have already stated it needlessly forces you to repeat a mindless and strenuous motion that is neither fun nor healthy.

MKDS and MKDD will always be the best competitive mario kart games in my heart. Snaking was just too fun. I was kind of disappointed that MK7 didn't have it. They should have the option to choose between normal and original drifting. Because to me snaking separated the pros from the scrubs. It grinds my gears when someone says "Stop snaking that's cheating". when its not . People need to think of it as an adv techniques like those in SSBM for example. They just need to take the time to learn it.

Drifting has been a Mario Kart staple for years, but its appearance in Mario Kart DS divided users due to the prevalence of so-called "snaking". While that hasn't been eliminated in MK7, it's been toned down to make things a little fairer.

You no longer need to tap left and right on the Circle Pad to build up your sparks, as they build depending on the tightness of your turn.

I'm willing to bet almost everyone who complains about snaking isn't able to do it themselves or has never put the effort into learning it. Disappointed snaking hasn't made it back into MK7, hope there's still enough to separate the casuals from the pros!
