He's right. Playing banjo is pretty easy. Especially if you play guitar for a decade before buying a banjo.

Playing the banjo the way he plays the banjo is easy. All he is doing is chunking through chords like a rhythm guitar. That's not true banjo playing. In his hands the banjo is little more than a mike stand.

His real skill and gifts are his voice and songwriting abilities. Those are his true talents and what defines him as a musical artist.

he's playing a tenor style 4 string. a banjo made for "chunking through chords" doesnt make him anyless of a banjoist and it is "true banjo playing"

There you will see real tenor banjo playing with the skill that tenor banjo playing involves.

There is much more to tenor banjo playing than what Mr. Whitmore was doing. He was just "chunking through chords and could have just as easily been using a guitar as a banjo. There's hardly any proficiency involved to the way he was playing the instrument.

The first video at the top of the search is another fine example of tenor banjo but also very different musical style from Sean Moyses.
