Here in the great Commonwealth of Virginia, those of us who serve the economically disadvantaged areas of the state as educators have not seen a raise since 2007. In fact, rising health insurance costs have actually left us with a decrease in pay. So if average pay is now down to $34,000 annually yet requires a college education, why do we keep teaching? Well the answer is simple...at least I think it must be. I'm not dead sure what it is, but I bet its simple.

I have a great idea! Administrators should slow down on the many programs you've invested in and commited your teacher's time on and allow us to use our intuition as educators teach. Maybe a little crack down from the higher levels on discipline will enable a smooth flow in the classroom. Then we can do our jobs knowing that our school leaders are as serious about education as the teachers try to be.

Having worked in education for 15 years, I can tell you where to find the money: Eliminate any position with the words 'facilitator', 'consultant', 'advisor', 'assisstant', 'co-ordinator', or 'director' in it.

You'll be amazed how many actual teachers you can hire!

Seattle, more than half the budget is spent on administration. A bunch PHD's in an office building writing reports that nobody reads and going to meetings. Less than half the money even made to the local schools! AND 90% of these "educators" are extreme left-wing and they indoctrinate the kids with their "institutional" view of reality. The problem with education in America is not the "money"! The problem is a bad product that we are forced to buy.

Brown in CA just made it possible for illegal immigrants to get college educations off the backs of the American tax payer. Actually a competent jobs plan will work. A huge investment into updating and maintaining infrastructure.Great multiplier effect and millions of jobs.Obama can't pass anything. Ask congress why they're keeping taxes low on the rich and not proposing any jobs bill. Iraq war ends this year. So only Afghanistan is left.

Infrastructure is never complete. It has to be maintained,updated. And do you think all this infrastructure will be completed overnight? It will take decades and then constant maintenance and updating.And that will bring investment. Thus the multiplier effect.

No it produces income also. Toll roads,ports,etc. You do realize why countries invest in infrastructure and the necessity for it? You think China is spending billions in infrastructure because it does nothing?Of course it generates income and its necessary for business. Do you travel on a horse.
