this was great! and i totally agree. the mistake that alot of musicians make is thinking "oh, well if i just play some local gigs or be in the talent show at my school, a talent scout will come find me and then i'll get big."

well, this isn't Disney Channel, so it doesn't work like that. if you really want to go big, you need to aquire the right kind of marketing skills and take an initiative rather than sitting back and waiting for something to happen.

This is why many talented singers and rappers and musicians get passed on because they don't market their product and build momentum very well, then complain when an artist of lesser talent gets a lot further than them... Because the took the proper steps to get noticed regardless of talent level!

Again, I agree with her... I felt the reprecussions of sending out several demos that went absolutely NOWHERE! Also, my first CD went nowhere as well due to lack of good PUB... I was too excited about getting my music and lyrics out into the Hip Hop world, and so... nothing really happened. It was basically a waste of money (making a lot of CDs, without any good publicity)... Take heed to this girl yo!
