@Numinous20111 Agreed. It's the only scene that Christopher Reeve and Marlon Brando share in the first one and as it would later turn out the second one since the Salkinds cut Brando out of the theatrical cut of II. The Donner cuts of both I and II with the restored Brando footage make me prefer them to the original theatrical releases for both films.
Very touching. Jor-El, the father, as the voice beyond the grave, and as a hologram, is lovingly instructing his son. If it weren't for the vanity of the Kryptonian Elders who thought of Krypton as indestructible, Jor-El would still be alive and able to embrace Kal-El, his son. Thus, ironically, although Superman is powerful and invulnerable, Jor-El tells his son to value humility b/c if the Elders had displayed humility, it would have saved Krypton and his parents from destruction...
in the 1978 movie 'Superman' when the alien infant emerged from his space capsule he displayed a circumcised penis. The jews who control Hollywood never bypass any opportunity to brainwash the gullible masses into replicating their sadistic covenant ritual with Lucifer. Nobody who bears the mark of Lucifer is ever allowed to enter the presence of God.
@qwuezalothus This is I believe from the Donner edition of Superman II. Superman I and II were being filmed simultaneously until time/money ran out and they had to pull the plug and get the first one out and put aside the footage for II. Look u S2 the Donner cut for full info since I don't have enough characters here but 2 would have been a fairly different movie if Donner had finished it. They hired Dick Lester to finish it, Donner's footage is still in probably 40% of the finished movie.
hi 200 coment just give me richard lesters cut anyday donners version sucks still alot needs to be deleeted daily planet boss conversation who is he where did he come from needs to be edited we already found out from lios deleet it or deleet lois lanes footage not have both
great job Evil21345 I loved it, I have mild cerebral palsy and always got exscluded from sports. Chris protral of superman inspired me to try harder and be better. I got to meet Chris Revees in 97 at George Mason University. I got to speak with him for a few minutes me and a few college students were there as he got out of van. with tears I just told him he meant an afull lot to a little boy.
@ghall25 I have a mild case of C.P., too! Superman means everything to me. I grew up watching his legacy in the Richard Donner film, and I still enjoy him in "Smallville" today. Superman is the greatest hero.
RIP Christopher Reeve in my mind played the best superman i hated to see what happened to him in 1995 and see him go thru this for 10 years but now he is in heaven movin again and flying around for real this time.
@Gossage54 this is from the original movie (1978) it just didnt make it in the final theatrical cut of the film back then. (basically a deleted scene) in 2001 when they put the DVD together, Richard Donner put this scene (as well as others) back into the film, when they restored the film.
It was idiotic to drop this scene. It gives the character of Kal El a tragi-heroic aspect because we realise how the price of his power is his profound loneliness
Christopher Reeve's Superman is never given enough credit for the humanity and down to earthness he had. Because he was the Silver Age Superman and because Donner had him turn back time in this movie and the Donner cut of Superman II, so many people out there write Reeve's Superman as "God like" and perfect, without feeling and humanity. But we see here, as in other scenes in this film and Superman II that Reeve brought an incredible amount of warmth and humanity to this character.
What in the world possessed anyone to edit this scene out in the first place? I could understand editors doing it now, claiming it would "slow down the action," but in '78, we still had attention spans.
You know it's funny, when I read the poster's description of the vid when it said "Touching scene between father and son" right away I thought about Glenn Ford (RIP, too). *lol*
No, his not not his "father", His GODFATHER! :D
