ok. I do understand this, but then I think that it is easy to stay positive when our situations are okay. What to do if we look at people on the street, little children born into homelessness and literally living on the street. How to uplift people in that situation?
I think everything happens as a cause and effect and not because of a divine or spiritual reason. However as an ex-optimist I am trying to get back a more positive outlook. You have a great viewpoint on life and your videos have been helpful to me, Thanks
how about not allowing words like horrible and negative frustrated slippery slopes etc in our vocabulary. I'm glad GeraldP1983 gave his thoughts. Heres the deal. knowing that contrast exists and is what causes us to desire to be who we really are. the reason why it seems all bad is because most people are not aligned really. They are not STAYING consciously aware. Any discord is an attempt on the part of the experiencer to be happy. I disagree with your statement "I just dont know".
Good thoughts, Gerald. Especially your words on the ten dollars with a pure intention versus the billion. The real values are the least tangible; their effects are subtle but touch others far and wide.
When I was out walking today, some teenagers pulled up in a car and started making fun of my clothes, the way I walk, etc.. I'm 51 years old, so I was kind of shocked by this. I reacted by completely ignoring them--just walking on without acknowledging them--but negative thoughts and feelings started churning in my head. It almost ruined the good mood I was in. I decided to forgive them and wish them a good day. And that did it. I got out of my head and enjoyed the rest of the day....
Hi Gerald, glad to hear you are feeling better. Thanks for your message.
Having a positive way of looking at things is so important indeed. The shadow is vital. It is our space for growth and learning.
I also liked your words on egocentricity and wanting things now. Getting beyond the self and patience are two beautiful essentials to the spiritual path.
Thank you, Gerald, for all your insights. Excellent, as always!
Calls to mind Buddha's words: "What we are today comes from our thoughts of yesterday, and our present thoughts build our life of tomorrow: our life is the creation of our mind." The Dhammapada (1.1)
I'd like to hear your thoughts on why you propose that everything happens for a reason. I think that such a mindset can be very useful in terms of provoking spiritual growth. However, I can't really say that I'm convinced that events in our lives provoke such spiritual insights by design. Any event in life can be seen as an invitation to a good mindset and growth, but personally, I couldn't say, "The reason I got sick was to take it as a learning experience."
Thanks Gerald, sometimes I think I understood how positiveness can help my life, it works for a time then I loos it gradually, strong patterns of thoughts and emotional addictions are tough to get rid off.. and then, there is a video of you saying "stay positive" Well that help me a lot, not because I knew it before is because I need to know it at all times. Blessings
I don't like my job so much but the positive side since i work out in the element is that i get to feed the stray cats and birds. I enjoy just that act alone and it makes me think what other things can ease my stress and negative thoughts towards this work environment. I reached the point where i feel that its an essential key to focus on the positive, not necessarily divert away from the negative but observe it as it is. There is no need to interact with it in such a way to cause me suffering.
Thank for your heartfelt comments. I agree that being positive in life is very important, but I think that there is some danger of pasting a "smiley face on" and becoming superficial or self-deceptive. Personally I think the best advice is to stay neutral about the day to day emotional ups and downs while keeping an overall positive commitment. Warm regards
It's very difficult, but I've found a key is deep gratitude & appreciation which comes from surrender. Our lives are actually quite brief and an incredible gift. True surrender ultimately leads to unconditional love.
A very wise Thai forest monk, Ajahn Chah, once said,
"If you let go a little, you will have a little peace.
If you let go a lot, you will get a lot of peace.
If you let go completely, then all of your struggles with this world will have come to an end."

the more we complain about things the more we send out a vibration of desire for what we really want. Here it is: How to change your state of mind
1.recognize when you feel bad
2.recognize what made you feel that way
3.Ask yourself, " does this feel good?"
4.If not, Ask " what would make me feel good"(the opposite of what made you feel bad)
5. Take a moment to visualize yourself in the perfect scenario having all go the way you want it to.
6. Hold this vision then repeat
do this with everything
