What we need to do is crack down on puppy mills and make spay/neuter free for everyone so that those who are not under contract from a breeder, or cant afford the procedure have the option to choose
if breeders REALLY loved dogs, they would do something to keep millions from being killed instead of contributing to the problem. an all inclusive mandatory spay/neuter law isn't the answer, but i don't see any of these breeders who are supposed to care about the animals making any effort to pass more stringent regulations on breeding animals. at least a blindly general mandatory spay/neuter would save millions from death instead of perpetuating the problem
I agree, but it's better than nothing. I agree that responsible breeders should be able to continue breeding dogs, especially when they are working dogs, but there are SO few of them that exist in comparison to the huge multitude of backyard and hobby breeders.
Good breeders will and do take back their dogs so they don't go to shelters. BYB won't, and will breed their dogs before any owners are lined up for the puppies, and breed more dogs than they could ever take back. Lots of ethical breeders are also into dog rescues. Its the BYBs that need to be punished, not everyone else.
Please please please don't buy a animal from a breeder, go help your local shelter and get one from there! I did and now I have the best dog and cat in the world.
I agree with you here! Although I'd never get a pure bred pet (expensive and I'm not big on looks, I prefer plain brown tabbys), I don't think they should no be allowed to have their hobby. And PeTA are the ones putting such stupid concepts out there, when most people don't know that there primary goal is to get rid of domestic animals for good. I mean, theyre against no-kill shelters. RED FLAG should go up there! I have 4 male cats, all neutered, but all at about 8-14 months.
Also there has been a reduction of animals in shelters as of resent years. I have pure bred but i have two that i adopted theres a way to balance it. There are alot of responsible breeders out there too. My breeder asked if we couldnt keep our basset to return it to her. Same with my boy freinds main coon. They wouldnt let hima have it unless he agreed to nueter him and notify the breeder that he did so. Im pro breeder because its important to preserve the breeds that have been at mans side.
Also, your information on early spay & neuter is completely warped. Spaying prevents mammary cancer in females if done prior to the first heat cycle. Males stop finding the instinctive urge to wander & breed & their behavior becomes more adaptable to living inside a home. Ask any vet about it. I'd suggest you spend 1 single day at a shelter & watch all the euthanasia & THEN get on your high horse about wanting to breed more "pure" animals. If your heart isn't changed after that, then so be it.
You are so incorrect. Neutering is not the solution in all cases. If you are responsible and keep your cat indoors, you don't have this problem. (My male cat is NOT neutered and he is fine and does not have this urge to wander and he does NOT spray urine on the walls like those people say that they do. It's all lies, just to make money. Think about that.
I have had both neutered and unneutered male cats inside my home. After 10 years, I finally got the intact male neutered because his personality started to deteriorate over time. He is now so much more content and happy now that the hormones are finally out of his system. Say what you will, but I've seen both sides and the neutered side makes for a much more emotionally sound pet, in addition to the health benefits.
It is only PETA with the agenda that you refer to here & I disagree with them. What I can't abide is the wholesale breeding of animals when millions are killed in shelters every year because there is no place for them. There ARE pure bred animals in shelters. Have you actually taken the time to go inside & really LOOK? AKC papers are for egos. My pound rescue dogs over the years have been 110% better than any pure bred I ever owned. Current laws encourage puppy mills NOT responsible breeders.
To say that breeders are the cause of animal abandonment is like saying pet owners are the cause of animal abuse. The breeders I have met with only love their animals and many will only breed if they have already placed pups. It is not the fault of good breeders, who often make little money off of the expensive and time consuming rearing and vet bills, that ignorant owners dump their animals. Pet store chains, out to make a quick buck, are usually the ones to profit heavily from the mills.
My point is still this - why continue to breed if there are millions of animals being killed every year because of lack of homes? Why?? It's like Hitler wanting to wipe out the "mutts" of Germany so he could keep his "pure race". Millions are herded into shelters (including pure breeds) while we keep on pumping out more "pure" dogs & the rest are murdered. Given a lack of so much available breeding, more shelter animals would find homes, resulting in less population needing to be killed.
I will say it again. Spend one day in a shelter in their euthanisia room & watch the precious mixed breeds & pure breds as they know what lies on the other side of "the door", as they try to stop the worker from taking them in there. Watch them look with sad, pleading eyes at their murderer. Watch the life drain out for no reason other than there is no home for them. Listen to the screams & clawing of those doomed to gas chambers who don't always die on the first try. Then talk about this.
I said the scream in the gas chamber. And yes, they DO know what is on the other side of the door where they are killed. It's instinctive in all of them. They slam on the brakes. Whether it's the smells, or the sounds, who knows? But they DO know. How do I know this? Because, yes, I've been there. It's why I can say to spend one day, just one.
I've never said there is no problem with mix breeds, but what I do not like is people demonizing a person's job as something evil. If you want to buy a breeder dog, that's ok. If you want to adopt, that's ok. What I do not like is this stupid fight over it. Adopting is cheaper, since you only buy the adoption fee and that's it.
This video is so well done, and so expressive of what's really going on in the minds of the radical AR group. They want to eradicate pets from the face of the earth.
What I don't understand is the dual position PETA takes. First they take their white death van to shelters in NC euthanizing puppies and kittens as soon as they get back to their van. But people keep sending them money, so that they can buy more death vans, and more death needles and more death medicine. And now they're after puppies and kittens from breeders so that they can do their white van event on them too. I just don't understand why people keep sending them money!
The AKC does tell people where to buy dogs on their website you haven't looked.. just because a shleter worker "thinks" a dog looks like a poodle does not mean it is a poodle..and even so most purebred groups do rescu and place them.. "pure breds".. sure .. the AC knows.. you should see what they are calling a "bull terrier".email me. he is deaf.. has one blue eye and is as tall as a giraffe.. that is what the shelter called a "purebred".. i am past my "pet limit".
If I can't find it, then what's the purpose?(or actually, that IS the purpose -- bury it so nobody can find it but they can say it's there!) Have you looked at the breeders advertising on the AKC classifieds section? Would you tell puppy buyers to buy from any of them? For my breed, not on your life. Most of them are Amish puppy pimps - the good breeders don't need to advertise there. And for my rather rare breed, they are usually misclassified by the shelters as mutts.
Talk about 'profiling'! Do you even know any Amish people? I do and take offense to your slandering them. Have you ever stepped foot in an Amish run dog business? I sure have stepped in a shelter...don't tell me to shop at Wal-Mart instead of Macy's ok?
Have any of you ever set foot inside a shelter? Talk about burying your heads in the sand! Are you aware that there are an awful lot of purebreds languishing in shelters? Most come from puppy mills, those horror factories where the AKC makes its money so you can get your ego ribbons. Stop whining and start educating folks about where to get a purebred puppy (since YOUR AKC will not) and your negative perceptions that lump you in with these puppy profiteers will be reduced dramatically.
catvsdog123, birthplaces of shelter dogs are *not recorded* by intake workers. Dogs and cats dumped there *almost never* come with pedigrees or registrations. I've seen way too many shelter crossbreds classified as purebreds when they're obviously not. Your statement posits rare aberrations as the norm. Stop spouting from the PeTA and HSUS datastream.
Oh - and I have been visiting shelters since the 1970s, and done my share of volunteering there too.
Very nicely done informative video. We'd like to emphasize that our objection is not simply mandatory EARLY castration & hysterectomy laws - it is MANDATORY elective surgical procedures at any age. We would object to laws that mandate castration or hysterectomy of 9 months old pets, or 1 year old, etc. Responsible owners will be responsible whether their pets are "fixed". Irresponsible owners have no business owning pets in the first place.
We're all familiar with terrorism, right? Be careful who you support....and make informed decisions before you donate money to groups who have hidden agendas...
Our law makers have nothing to do better than to try and take OUR RIGHTS away from us. Punish those who let there dogs run, having babies after babies. If this bill passes, therr won't be any dogs, or cats. My dogs are all sold on a limited contract, and with the agreement, that this dog is not to go to any other home, but back to me. PETA is one of the groups that is backing this bill. Have you met any of those people? They are WAY OFF in left base.
All these fund raising organizations have leaders that originated in Earth Save or EarthFirst, eco organizations. If you look deep enough, you will find it is not aboput the pets, it is about the money and a warped philosophy that none of us deserve to live on mother earth. KNOW THE ENEMY.
As with all their videos, REXANO brings the reality of animal ownership into a positive perspective. PETA and the AR folks use scare tactics and half truths to literally scare the public into believing their lies and fabrications. Keep up the good work. JOIN REXANO and fight for your rights to share your life with an animal. IF the AR folks get their way - you won't be able to.
This is a beautifully done video that explains the true agenda of the animal rights movement. Hopefully, California Assembly Bill 1634 will soon be just a bad memory!
How ridiculous. I was so shocked and horrified by their blatent attempt at making domestic animals extinct! I hope more people get clued in to what is happening and take some action to oppose these ridiculous laws. Imagine a world without domestic cats and dogs (even all domestic animals, if they get their way) - how horrible!! Thanks again for your excellent presentation.
A very well put together, well thought out video. Thanks for taking the time to make this and share it. All of what is said here I completely agree with, and it hits home even more in light of some PETA ads I watched the other night promoting the idea that every puppy bought from a breeder kills a dog in a shelter...

but thats a fascist way of doing it.
Many worker animals can't be spay/neuter because they need them for their traits for the work force.
Breeders do keep self control when breeding, it's the "backyard breeders" that do the most damage because they know no how to take care of them

funny your comparing Hitler's "Attempted Revival" of the Aryan race to those of legitimate breeders.
The ones you should condemn are the "Backyard Breeders", the ones who just breed any breed of dog.

First off how do you think these Pure bread dogs came to be? by mixing breeds that's how. They just like the result and decided to duplicate it.
And there is nothing wrong with mixed breeds. people should go to a shelter to buy a dog. Save and animal
