I (blue gamb) was presenting the point, forcing him to have to try to get around it and guarding my center line. I have experimented with a few other guards, but the point in line is just the safest. It also aids me in being aware of the distance at all times. The effect of this is that the fight starts off like a rapier fight. I can only make a safe cut once I am past his point. I can only cut in such a way that my blade is between my body and his blade.
Most historic unarmored duels were to the first cut. Fighting in mail in the 12 th century is a different story, you have to pulverize the guy. I am working on somthing that may be more to your taste. Its called Steelwars. It may be picked up by Espan. It is 30 to 60 seconds of nonstop fighting. They will have sensors on our bodies to keep track of the hits.
tht sounds cool, but some were to first blood but there were also lots of fights to the death. to duel you have to fill out a form and go through months of paperwork, they hoped to discourage both sides from fighting. but is they still persist they do fight. this was a serious thing durring the duel no one could interrupt by yelling or intefer by throwing stuff. if they do the will be silently taken out and be beheaded.
Sidesword with dagger is a very good combination. I practice it too but prefer two-sword. I am hoping to find someone locally (NYC) who wants to fight against this form and put up some videos.

ya but you guys do only 1 or 2 hits then stop, no continuation, i would try alta the do a meso cut then thrust, or alicornio guard works too

erm not a lot of combos with both swords,
dagger and buckler and most common
some use cape
