  • ;) flips220 mate this guitar is the entry level one, you can get one for about 250£ thats like the price of an epiphone SG.....

  • Well in that case, nevermind. Sorry. I live in the middle of nowhere in australia. We don't have money or nice things down here. We have snakes and spiders. They'll nip ya in the bum if you don't watch it!

  • :P

I have that problem in somerset in england.... most people round here's car's cost the same as this guy's TV.... but this is an incredible guitar... and when i get mine im fairly sure im going to make a vid of seting it up :P

And just feel thankfull you live somwhere without an idiotic president :)

  • you are good a guitar but need some riddelin

  • Nice

  • youre freakin nuts dude...

  • The Variax has onboard electronics that model different guitars/pickups. Strat, Tele, Les Paul Acoustic etc. You can output straight to your amp or us a Toneport interface with a PC or a Line6 Floor Pod. Both the Toneport and the Floor pods give you the ability to model different amp cabs as well as stomp box type effects. I hope that gives you a better idea. FYI the Variax 300 sounds every bit as good as the 600 and 700. The electronics are all the same. I got the 600 for the whammy.

  • Yeah, the main difference between the three is just the build quality and playability, not the sound itself. They all have the same electronics, so the money goes in the woodwork. As we've seen here you can get a good 300, but chances are it's not going to be that great to play.

BTW, is the 600 the one with the thinner, faster neck, and the 700 is the thicker one? Might go for the 600 myself if that's the case.

  • Hey Jubitttib, The difference in the neck is this...

The 700 had a maple neck with rosewood fretboard with a 10" radius. The 600 has a maple neck with a 9.5" radius meant to feel more like a vintage strat. Both have Medium profile frets. I have always had an affinity for maple necks on my Tele's and Strat's so the 600 was a natural choice for me. Not to mention the price jump to the 700.

  • Thanks for the info.

I've been wanting to get one for a long time. Too bad the 700 is so much more expensive, it's the only one that looks like something I could stand watching every day. Strats are supposed to have something between the neck and the bridge. =) The curved topped 700 looks nice even without the pups. Would probably have to buy the 700 and throw in a ESP neck with jumbo frets. Maybe even True Temperaments while I'm at it, lol.

  • If you have seen Jeff Millers website checkout his Variax conversions. They will get ya drooling! He makes a 700 look like a Squire!

  • I love that movie!!!!!

  • As for all of the standing on the sideline comments about his picking...SHUDUP! If there is anything that a musician undertands, it is our individuality we all bring to the sounds that we make that makes music what it is. If you feel the need to pick someone else appart to make yourself feel better go hang out at the bus station and knock yourself out!

    Nice playing dude! ROCK ON!

  • While his picking is "unique," I can't say he sucks.

by the way, how does that thing create all those sounds and amplify what you play if there's no pickup or anything?

    How does that thing work?

  • I don't know for sure but I think the pickup is in the brdge. Since it emulates the sound it really doesn't need pickups located in different parts of the guitar, it just adjust the EQ to make it sound like a bridge pickup or middle pickup or fretboard pickup. I guess that would be cool to emulate electroacoustic sounds and all.

  • I've got same pants! Anyway great video.

  • say hello to my little friend

  • Hi,

where are the pickups on one of those, how does it work without them?

    Nice work.

  • there is a pickup in the bridge, i am not positive, but i believe it works like a fishman powerbridge or a piezo

  • woww nice plazma tv

  • God damn, if this is how this thing sounds just running out of a computer, I'm gonna have to get one. Someone nearby is selling this exact guitar for $250. Guess I can't pass that up.

  • What a tv!!You are rich!:P nice btw

  • just excellent. i play a variax also (converted to a strat) check out my vids

  • It doesn't matter if he's playing too hard. All that matters is that it sounds awesome! Nice job glee, I like the bass in the background, kind of like some sort of samba or something.

  • Very cool. I've got the same guitar in red and run it through a spider jam amp. Loads of endless play. Keep rockin.

  • Easy on the picking there. Hard picking = bad. It gives you bad tone, it'll break your picks and strings a lot faster, and it's just not good for the guitar. Ease up your picking a bit, you'll sound a lot better.

  • Yeah, I was thinking he needed some technique pointers too...LOL...NOT! Yet another amazing vid from Glee9

  • I didn't say he was bad, he just needs to brush up on his picking. You don't get a good tone with hard picking.

  • Maybe you can post a video lesson showing us what he did wrong and how to do it right.

  • I don't need to show a video on how to pick softer. I can explain it here.

Step 1: Loosen the grip to where it's easy to knock it out of your hand.

    Step 2: Play.

I'm only saying he's picking too hard, Geez...

  • Not what I was saying. Do you think he's picking too hard the entire time? I meant play for us the parts he is picking too hard but do it the right way so we can all learn. I would like to see and hear the difference between what he is doing and what you think he should be doing. That shouldn't be too hard for someone like you right.

  • This is my last response, and I'm not going to continue, you know what I mean.

He is picking too hard in the parts where he's doing tremolo picking, and alternative picking.

It shouldn't be too hard for someone like yourself, to understand how to not pick so hard, I've given steps below on how to loosen up on the grip.

Like I said, I don't need to show a video for a technique, it's not even a technique, to loosen the grip.

I'm not going to continue. I don't need to post a video.

  • Are you thinking that I'm giving criticism because I can play better? I don't solo like that. I'm a very mellow guitar player, I like to do slow solo's. You can't compare oranges and apples.

I don't need to post a video on picking techniques, because there are a lot of them out there

    Search: "Guitar Lesson-Picking Techniques"

That's one example. Notice how he isn't picking very hard.

  • Well at least you finally figured it out. The point is I disagree with you. There is nothing wrong with his tone and the way you could prove I am wrong is to record it the "right way". Of course you can't. I don't need picking lessons from you (neither does glee, BELIEVE ME) I just wanted you to give an example of one part where a different picking style would improve the playing. Typical internet armchair quarterback easy to be a critic when you are anonymous and don't have to back it up.

  • Stfu nobody cares what you think asshole.

  • Dude, you're not part of this. It's over anyway. Insulting me more won't do no good to either me or you, it'll just waste time, and I'm not gonna waste my time.

Be my guest to waste your time on another person though.

  • you obviously dont know your music. it doesnt matter how hard you pick, just as long as u make whatever you playing sound good. this guy sounds great. and i doubt for this guys style of playing, if he followed your advise, he would drop the pick. not because he "picks too hard" but because hes "gripping it so its easy to knock it out of his hand".

  • If I didn't know my music, how come I'm graduating the Juilliard School of Music this year? I don't know why everybody is bashing on my comment just because he said "He's picking too hard". Look the guy is a great player, I'm just giving him advice with his picking. And that's not true, it won't fall out of his hand. I always give a very loose grip when I play, and I don't drop picks 95% of the time, but my tone is excellent.

  • My point is, he's a very skilled player; And every player has their flaws. I have a numerous amount of flaws in my technique.

I don't understand why people keep bashing on me, just because I gave some advice.

  • Greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.

  • Wow, that was so awesome, i love that lick at 0:28, so damn tight.

  • with a line 6 if u wanna use a pedal it has to be a line 6 specific pedal

but a good line 6 come with most the effects ur gunna need

  • is that scarface on in the background?

  • yes

  • Yah, the end where he kills his friend in front of his sister.

  • uhm, just wondering...since some line 6 amps come with some effects that sound a bit like distortion, can you still get a pedal for it?

  • Yes you can, and it doesnt need to be a Line 6 pedal unless you are looking for something to control the amp with. But if i understand your question youre just asking about another effect, in which case you can put whatever you want in front of the amp.

  • awesome playing....and i'm glad i'm not the only one who loves line 6....a bunch of my friends say they suck but i have a variax myslef and a couple of other line 6 products and i love it.

  • You should play the stuff for some of your friends and not tell them its Line 6... i play with a lot of "older"/ "seasoned" musicians, and they always lose their heads after a gig when i tell them its a podxt thats generating the sound not a real marshall or fender etc.

  • that is good stuff, alot of nice tricks combined in there. gotta love that pentatonic jamming, im supprised you didnt lose the fast picking or that you even went that long without playing

  • You have one sexy picking technique

  • you rock!

  • I logged into this video to see the Line 6 Variax and found you playing the hell out of it. You should be on their website!

    Thanks for your post.

  • u r one of the best player i've seen on youtube u r great

what is the find in your neck ??

  • music to my ears

  • can it be plugged in to an amp?

  • Yes

  • That's one unusual way of holding the pick :-) Wait... actually it's similar to the way Steve Morse holds it. Interesting...

  • what the hell are you doing playing in your living room? get a lable deal man!!!!!!!!you rock!!!!!!

  • he might already have a label

  • good playing i cant belive you would play like that without owing a guitar for so long

  • Awesome. And what a coincidence. I do all my best playing while watching Scarface too.

  • nice playing...umm this is my first time is see line6 guitars , strang where is the pickups?

  • There is none :) Its all in the inside so it can have electronics, with a variax you can even plug it in your computer and download new effects directly to your guitar :)

  • now thats what i call having fun!

  • shit

    my goddddddddddddddddd

  • Jesus Christ

  • damm, you remind me of santana, man this is a change from all those guitar players who only sweep pick,THIS is playing guitar, with feeling, with pasion, its about havin fun, not just sweep pickin like you were only a robot.
