Beware, for cretins exist in ALL nationalities, races, families, genders, religions, intelligence-ranges, aptitutes, levels of wealth or penury. A great creative artist may be without conscience. One with a healthy sense of humor can be psychopathic.
Of course, as well, the good exist in all societal strata. So take heart. But discriminate.
Why do I even see people bad-mouthing Jimmy Page on here? The man is a living legend and he plays guitar like he came out of the womb wielding that Gibson double-neck. Not only that, but the man composed some of the best songs of all time. He wrote and recorded Stairway to Heaven in TWO HOURS, and to this day people call the song the anthem of rock. He's the best, get over it.
Jimmy Page is the second worst guitar"player" in the universe; - worst is Slash. - Both have no balls, they stink and have a very tiny weenie. They suffer from MICROGENITALIS.
Is that Steven Tyler's mom getting interwiewed about JImmy Page? What is the official word at this point, is Steven Tyler a poor man's version of Robert Plant or Mick Jagger? Has he even decided yet? Aerosmith have some merit but it is annoying when people try to put them in the same category as Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Who, etc. Ususally only by rock fans that were born in the 80s.
What's up with youtube these days? It's taking like 30 seconds before a 20 second clip even starts playing while the rest of the Internet flies like normal.
I wish that there was a heavy wind/fan blowing so that Tylers' lips would have done some artificial flapping, he must hate it when that happens...
Hey mad hatter. I noticed this clip and the Tyler comments on Elvis appeared to be from some sort of documentary possibly since there were other musicians commenting on the subjest matter. Would you tell me which one it is?
This isn't from a DVD, it's a just a news piece that appeared on the web about the 2007 Classic Rock Awards. :) Dunno if there's a DVD of the Elvis special either, it was shown on tv several years ago around his birthday or something - called "Elvis Lives."
Lovingfilmmaker.... I am a female. I wonder why everyone assumes I'm a male. I hide my gender under my moniker. Far as I know, Steve Tyler isn't gay. He seems very straight to me. I love Jimmy Page AND Steve Tyler to pieces. I'd be thrilled to worship their wands. They would be, too. Mmmm...
Both Jimmy Page and Steven Tyler are two musicians I highly respect. This isn't a comment I give lightly either. I mean, I respect a lot of musicians but I greatly respect those two. A lot!
@RockerForLife74 just because jimmy page can shred on the guitar doesnt mean he is the best, johnny ramone influenced millions of people and he only knew 3 power chords, i cant stand these self indulgent retarded 70's bands that rely on hard soloing to sell records, ya know?
You think Page just shreds? Like many other guitarists, he has influenced millions into performing more complex and non-conformist like techniques and rhythms. His trademarks like the violin bow solos or the theramin solos made countless people wonder and think in amazement. His solos are not all about shreding, far from it. He shows the spirit of blues musicians in his playing. He is one of few who showed the world what they were missing out on. He is a true god of rock n roll!
@AllRamonesMusic Clearly you're ignorant and have no idea what you're talking about. Page shreds? Page rarely shredded. Page was all about emotion in his playing. He was so verstaille as a guitar player. He was known for being a riff king, one of the best soloists of all time, and his outstanding songwriting and producing. Johnny Ramone couldn't hold Pages jock as a guitarist. Not saying Ramone isnt good but hes nowhere even close to Page.
@AllRamonesMusic Lol, self indulgent retarded 70's bands? Dude, do you just let punk rock magazines do your thinking for you? You know Jimmy influenced millions too, including Johnny(Communication Breakdown). And I hardly think soloing = record sales. If anything, it's the opposite.
@AllRamonesMusic "Just because Jimmy Page can shred --" What?! No. Do you even know who you're talking about? The man is an emotional player, and you've obviously never seen him play before. He is also a brilliant composer and lyricist that has inspired many. Johnny Ramone was actually in a Led Zeppelin documentary, he was giving Jimmy Page the praise he deserves.
@RockerForLife74 dude you have to have the best comment for Jimmy Page.Rather than saying "He's the best guitarist", and i do think that lol, but saying he's the best guitarist this planet has to offer sounds less bias.
@tloadin1 I completely agree with you that Jimmy Page is the best guitarist, period. No one beats him, especially not these days. Today's guitarists stick with a very overdone chord progression and use of chords. Jimmy Page, if he would come out with a solo album, would have all these different things going on that would set your mind on an acid trip. His playing is so out there and unique. Facts are facts, and Jimmy Page being the best is just another fact. There is just so much proof of that.
@RockerForLife74 well to be fair i must say that Jeff Beck comes to a close second to being the best due to the oringinality in his playing. I mean who else plays guitar with a freakin violin bow? Maybe me one day ha!
@tloadin1 Jimmy Page did make the violin bow his trademark as well as using the theremin, which also is credited by Jimmy Page who actually brought up the instrument to light. Jeff Beck is amazing too, but he doesn't beat Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix is second to Jimmy Page, then Jeff Beck comes in like 4th or 5th. I'm fully aware of Beck's skills, but he's not as good as Hendrix or Page for that matter. I'm glad to hear that you've got a great taste in music though! Cheers to that!
@nerad1994 Yes there is. For each subject/talent there is in this world, there is a person that is the best at it. There are always people that are better than others at whatever, but there is a person that on top of them all. That would be the best person. That's just how it is. Saying that there is no best "this" or "that" is just void. It's impossible. There is a "best" for anything. Jimmy Page happens to be the best of the world's guitarists. And ya, Stevie's not far behind.
@RockerForLife74 honostly for things like music or art there is no "best" its all personal opinion. Everyone has a different playing style and some people think jimmy page is the best and others dont. all im saying is that there are so many guitarists out there that you cant possibly choose which one is best and have it be a fact. You can choose which guitarist is best for you but someone else might say otherwise in their opinion
@nerad1994 I'd say that everything I said in my last comment applies to music but it is true that me saying Jimmy Page is the best guitarist is my opinion. I gotta say though, there is proof that could lead to my opinion being a fact.
This discussions would be brought to an end if we just agreed in the concept of a good guitarist, speed? feeling? creativity? My definition of a good guitar player my vary form yours
@Rudemood23 Try 1966 to 1975. Then 1988 to now. Those are his good years. Ya, heroin fucked up his playing in the latter years of Led Zeppelin and the early 80's. Before he did heroin and after he recovered from it, he is definitely the best guitar player alive.
You know, the ability to do graphics and screen credits with the computer may be the worst thing to ever happen. Everyone thinks they're David O. Selznick now.
