Hey for the 6 year old I can say I want Johnny cash back Because he is a wanted man but Since he past on to a different part of life I will say Never be a wanted man because you willl be on the run forever if you don't get caught by the law So it depends on which way you want to take being a wanted man I am not wanted So I am not on the run nor will I be But Some folks are on the run & thats kinda the way Johnny cash song is refering too
While all the rest of the kids were getting into the f---king Partridge Family, my mom bought Live at San Quentin for me. No wonder my hear is so screwed up.
why is it i only discover how much i like these artists after they are gone?. what an awesome guy. been collecting your records ever since i heard your songs properly
It's a meme, 4channers have it as a running "joke" on all topics that are normally considered bad. For example: Suppose someone makes a thread about necrophilia, then they normally go "I'm 12 and what is this.".
It's hard to explain any better, it's internet humor. It shouldn't have to be explained since it's not very serious.
@ straydog02 i agree with you that joaquin Phoenix was robbed of an academy award he did a brilliant job of portraying the late and ever so talented Johnny Cash..
@ cornelisrocks it's good to see someone so young into such good music.. :-)
@desmondgrant1 he says that b4 he plays this version, so this is the first time theyre playin it live.... but its cut off when he talks about dylan which sucks
@discobiscuites IMO this song resonated with most of the prisoners in San Quentin, although it didn't bring the house down quite like Cash's songs 'San Quentin' and 'A Boy Named Sue' did.
Never considerd Cash as Country Ive always considerd him as a bluesy kinda guy but set the standards for alot of music and its still missed Cash is Life
About Joaquin Phoenix portrayal of Cash... Did you know that Joaquin is just 5'8'' (1,73 m) when the real Johnny Cash was 6'2'' (1,88 m). But in front of a camera you can hardly even notice it.. Great movie! Johnny Cash 4ever
Actually, Bob and Cash wrote this together, from what I heard - Cash reported they met at his Nashville home to write this number.
There'll never be another musician like JR Cash. The raw energy his performance had (especially this at San Quentin) still fascinates me whenever I listen to them.
That's what's so great about live recordings like that. And unlike now it was just; lets play a show, talk some in between and F it, we don't need to cut those bits out.
It's what makes live recordings awesome. I've got a cd here where the band is arguing over wether or not a certain chord was in place for 5+ minutes in between songs. That's priceless too. :)
my granpa was in folsom prison when cash went there.and no thats not a good that he went to jail but hell i wouldve like kicked a cop or something to go into folsom
@straydog02 Pretty sure I saw that very guitar at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. Sort of a corny place, but they do have some cool artifacts.
Folsom concert was a thought of a man who cared about everyone - one of the thngs I remember about my family - "had all that I wanted of a lot of things I had and a lot more than I needed of some things that turned out bad"
@cornelisrocks right on, man.. I mean no offense by this but people really don't develop mature musical tastes until they're at least eighteen. Still, it sounds like you're on the right track. By the time you come of age, all your chump peers are going to be listening to hip hop, and you'll just shake your head at them, knowing very well what true music is.
@cornelisrocks You Know son that is beautiful to see I am 50 and remember this when I was your age! God moved through him for me I hope he inspires you!
He never did prison time. He played for the inmates by request and recorded an album there. He was arrested seven times for misdemeanors, and sued by the federal govt. for starting a forest fire. Hope this helps.
as i was told the story, a gent named Bob Wootton showed up to one of Cash's shows shortly after Luther Perkins death, said he knew every Cash lick there ever was and would like to meet the man.
