No, this isn't a demo of Castle Crashers. This is flash game put together by a couple of members on Newgrounds poking fun at how Tom Fulp wouldn't shave his beard until Castle Crashers came out on Xbox Live Arcade. Castle Crashing the Beard has nothing to do with the Castle Crashers story line or anything, it just uses the characters and one of the creators. Don't pay attention to cantonschool down there. It pretty much boils down to manage to level up to 3 before he starts the 2nd eye beam, and after that it's more or less pure chance when he's off-screen - I was never able to understand why sometimes I slap him 12+ times with the lollipop and other times he just escapes immediately.

You can gain more time by killing him before he gets up the 1st time, and by killing the skull in one go when he moves from right to left.
