  • ...what part of this was against feminism?

Feminism is about the woman choosing what she wants to do; if she doesn't want to work, she doesn't have to, and no one should call her anti-feminist for that. Hitchens just proved himself pro-feminism. I hate this misconception that feminists are against women choosing what they want under the guise of 'giving them the freedom to work and earn money'. Anyone who says that, feminist or not, should really go learn about feminism themselves.

  • dumb woman couldn't even give a reason for her objection

  • i think women should work and men stay at home. let them do the fucking hard work, why should i bust my ass. sure we wouldnt get anywhere, but i would love to just have lots of free time doing anything i want.

  • @pedinoway2 Except someone has to make sure the house stays clean, there's food on the table, kids are doing their homework and tucked in by bedtime...if you want to get a maid to do all that shit so that YOU would have lots of free time to do whatever you want, great, but then she may not be making that much money, so now you're going to have to go to work so that you and your wife can afford a full-time house-keeper while you're both at work and the kids are at school. JS.

  • @lovemeordie83 id do all those thing, i would ratter stay at home and work there insted of working and listening to an asshole boss who never had a real job in his life and now he owns something just cause his daddy was rich. i love women and i sure think we are equal, im just saying that i personaly would prefer to be a stay at home dad while my wife works.

  • *sigh* what seems to be the problem, bitch?

  • that was a pretty clear misunderstanding. he said it over and over again and she still didn't get it. Ironic how she was as blindsided by the idea of a woman not working as someone might be at the idea of a women working 150 years ago

  • All women work, But just not as hard as men. its kinda like gay guys, they cut hair and stuff. you know like decorate and shit.

  • she is such an idiot.

  • He's right

  • Where was he offensive.

  • I don't get it...

  • "They dont have to work. They can if they want to!"

"WWTTTFFFFFF AAAHH ARE YOU SERIOUS OMG SEXIST!

  • She misunderstood him. He was being chivalrous and cute, but expressing it bluntly. Probably because he isn't that invested.

  • I somewhat disagree with the first thing he said. I just don't see myself as 'hopeless' when it comes to looking after a child, 'nor would I use work as an escape.

But this women is being very narrow minded and ignorant. Women are not under any obligation to work when they are caring for a child, and you could go as far as saying that it would be in their best interest to devote there time to care for their child (but they don't have to and that's fine)

  • That woman is a deaf retard

  • Time to get a clue lady

  • I'd love to bitch slap her. Bitch sitting there like king tut. I'll let you back out of this what?!! Bitch learn your place.

  • I don't see anything wrong with what he said here. He is not saying women shouldn't work, or be in the workforce. Nothing sexist here in the slightest that I can see.

  • she is such an idiot

  • It's only recently within history that women have often been forced to enter the workforce and not been able to stay home and care for the children, etc. The breakdown of the family unit is NOT a good thing but apparently this brainwashed woman thinks otherwise.

Hitchens was very clear in what he said and he is of course correct. There is no debating this.

  • wait a minute...How is this guy wrong?..or an asshole?..i didnt hear anything degrading to woman

  • "Girls don't ahve to work if they don't want to. If they want to that's great".

    "Sexist pig!"

Okay, fine, let me revise that statement in preference of the feminist view:

"Girls should have to work. Any girl who isn't working is a useless human being. Housewives should be shot."

There we go. Apparently THAT is politically correct.

  • @esepc40991 No, because the point is: men have to work, women should take care of the kids. Thus working is for men. Women are welcome to have a go, but their primary role is childcare.

  • @derdriui Wait. I think the only point you really disagreed with me on was the word "no". That last quotation was satirical. Of course I don't feel that way. But I feel like feminism is pushing women to work harder than it should. Instead of "you can" it is saying "you should". Anything else is "misogyny"

AND at the same time, it isn't really opening men up to more homely roles, because it still says a husband who makes less is a deadbeat.

    Sounds damaging to me.

  • So long as he applies the same attitude to men then I don't think he's being sexist. Otherwise, I can see how it might be patronising.

  • ...I would agree that plenty of men have that issue of feeling like they have to prove their worth to the family by being a hunter/gatherer, but by not casting that as an issue of gender conditioning and a sad thing I think Hitchens only ended up reinforcing it which is a shame.

  • Initially it seemed that she was misconstruing what he was saying, likening it more to a 'woman shouldnt work' attitude than simply saying women shouldnt be expected to have to juggle all these things. Im sure he recognised this but then didnt seem interested in clarifying it, then saying what he did about the 'gentler sex' was just daft, it started to seem more like he was goading her...(continued)

  • Two words: alpha male. RIP Hitch!

  • I'm sorry but men will never have as special a bond with children as women. Women are simply better at caring for children and that will never change. Men know this and that's why we try so hard to be better at everything else in the hope we will still be useful.

Like Hitch says, women can work if they want, but a man is no replacement for a mother.

  • @CowLunch That's not true at all, genes don't make you a good parent or even if you have different sexual parts I know of many many mother's that are pure trash at being a mother,it's not so much of base impulse to care for your chirldern it's one's choice, and a man can do that as much as a women god will you people grow up and see how stupid your logic is.

  • I love how people are getting offended by him saying he want's to care for women, but if they want to do stuff on their own, that's fine too.

    What's the ruckus' ladies?

  • Seems Hitchen's comments have brought all the sexist women hating trolls to this site.

  • I miss Christopher Hitchens :(

  • I feel like common sense is so rare these days it's almost a super power. Hitchens talks complete sense; I fully understand what he means and it's so excruciatingly frustrating when vulgar cunt scabs like this bitch just want to dangle a fish in front of her seals in the audience slapping their flippers together.

  • @Riles07 You hate women don't you? What mummy was mean to you.? Boo hoo

  • @claireshanaaprileve I certainly appreciate the intellectual rebuttal. You really live up to the image youtubers have made for themselves.I'm 22 years old now and I lost my mother to atrial fibrillation when I was 16.I'm sure you'll need to look that up given how hideously fucking stupid you almost certainly are.The animosity I feel towards you is almost insurmountable because of that comment.I do truly hope something awful befalls you.Such as the death of a close family member-slowly,painfully.

  • You want it to be equal? Just keep me drunk, let me fuck you and work all the fuck you want woman...i'll keep the house clean and just don't touch my guitar... o.O

  • @thehornypuppy Creep

  • Hitchens is a gentleman. he wasnt saying that women CANT work, just that he would be more than happy to provide for them, and they shouldt be obliged to get a job.

  • @cc9191 Well nowdays they have to and women's contribution to the worfforce is NEEDED.

  • Comment removed

  • Annoying watching her not understand something so obvious...

  • The woman attempts to blow up Hitch's statement out of proportion and also tries a bit too hard to look shocked. Whereas the statement is not sexist at all...

  • A woman CAN stay at home and be a mother full time until her child is no longer dependent and her career will NOT suffer as a result.

Do you think that's a stupid thing to say? OK how about this...

A woman CAN put her baby/ toddler/ child into daycare so she can continue her full time career and her child's development will NOT suffer as a result.

Feminism has mostly been a success for the state (which has always enslaved men - and now women too).

    watch?v=zCpjmvaIgNA

    and

    watch?v=n51kdAFPN7U

  • hah he was so trolling X)

  • I wonder if she watched the interview back and facepalmed herself.. I guess not, she would be to stupid to comprehend his answers even if he would spell it out word for word

  • You kind of actually DO have to work if you're a woman who has no one else to provide for her, and ESPECIALLY if you have children, just saying. I think the real issue is that he would make that distinction for women, and not for men. Whether or not any individual HAS to work has everything to do with their support network, and not their sex. In fact, there are many instances where neither partner can earn enough, esp. to support kids, so both must work. His statements are also classist.

  • ...I think Im missing the part where he said anything remotely offensive?

  • The irony is he's offering a right his partner that most people don't have, she doesn't HAVE to work like pretty much everyone else does, she has the freedom to make a choice that most can't. The interviewer is apparantly brainwashed by the bulletpoints of feminism.

  • He's not sexist, he's a fool.

Women can work, but don't have to. That is exactly what feminists want. Rights without responsibility.

  • 0:21 Evolution has not changed men and women much since the 70s. Men cant make milk either.

  • i have the same views as this guy if a women wants to earn he living and work thts fine but i dnt want her to if she dsnt want to. Pfft this is why chivalry is dead.

  • He's simply being gentle with the gentle sex.

  • @tigersforchrist Aaah internet troll... Troll!!! quick Hans get the UV gun... Turn that f$@#er to stone!!

  • @tigersforchrist you advertising a religion or a business?

  • I honestly dont get why she takes objection to him professing his belief that women dont have to work if they dont want to. He is still saying they can!! argh!

  • I agree with Hitchens 100% on this.

  • He just said he would take care of the women if they didn't want to work. How is that bad in anyway?

  • He spoke out so much about the subjugation of women by religion, this woman is a stupid cow who obviously does`nt get dry humour.

  • dumb bitch. clearly has an inferiority complex like all of the other feminist bitches.

  • She's so stupid. What the hell is wrong with her.

  • He's too dry for her. Probably even drier than her vagina.

  • @db1each He could've had her. Just look at her face when she responds to him.

  • @db1each cREEPY.

  • How in the fuck was he being sexist?! Omfg...

  • What's this dumb bitch's name?

  • lol She wants women to be Wage Slaves.

  • WTF was this woman going on about? What's so radical about women staying at home if they want to? Stupid bitch, what a disgrace to her gender.

  • How does this woman get "Women shouldn't work" out of "Women don't have to work, but they can if they want to"?

    Delusional, clearly defined.

  • So... she wants women to have to work? Wtf.

  • nah you know what? she's right. women should have the right to HAVE TO WORK...lol she's such a cow.

  • Feminist don't want equality. They wan't superiority. Awh shit, even if they had superiority they'd still bitch about something else haha.

  • That woman is so incredibly dumb.

  • She wants to have to do slave labour after giving birth.

  • I fucking miss this man so much. I am still devastated over his death.

  • He said nothing wrong, she cant hear him threw the filters of predujice.

  • she is a retard!!!!!!

  • @totallykeet So r u

  • Only a REAL FOOL would claim there is no God! Man creates awesome skyscrapers, fake hearts, tunnels, vehicles etc.. If we are very imperfect then what more can God create THE UNIVERSE! You must accept Jesus Christ as your Savior to receive eternal rest in heaven! Simple! John 3:16 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him! Repent & accept Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ or HELL?!? Visit cbn. com

  • @tigersforchrist hmm... with people like you there... Yeah, I'd rather go to hell...

  • he sed "whats wrong with me saying that" and she replied with such a well articulted answer "its just wrong" how graceful and intelligent a women she is.it kind of reminds me of a 5 year old stamping its foot.well at least all the feminists out there can be proud that they have got her

on their side! i only found out that hitchens excisted yesterday and i found out today that he died 2 months ago.i feel gutted for him and iv only known of him for a day.i also agree with everything he ses!

  • @TheBigBoss851 Yeah. I was not happy when I found out he died. My dad showed me some of his videos and I have watched much of his footage everyday since. He is very intelligent. To bad people like him never get in high places of power or advisory. I can not help think the world would be run much more efficiently.

  • @TheBigBoss851 or you that creep that believe deregulation did not lead the the current economic crisis in America?

  • @claireshanaaprileve i dont understand what u are saying? when your done having your period maybe u will speak with a more rashonal tone.humans have natural born instincts that cant be put into words very easily.men want to protect women but when women reject men it mixes up the natural order of things.then what we end up with is men staying home and doing the nerturing while the women go out hunting.u cant put into words why your wrong becuase u are supresing something inate inside u with anger

  • Hitchens is saying if women want to work, great, but they don't have to work. because men will look after them. All commenters react to that instead of the 'dumb bitch' stuff

  • Neither party looked upset, it seemed like they were having fun. Audience included. good video thanks.

  • hitchens just made her look like the bitch she is just by sitting there

  • Giant cunt vs reasonable man. Typical feminist.

  • @studio7manga And that was your attempt at reason ? Fail.

  • @magisoula998

Oh look, it's another giant cunt.

  • @studio7manga You're humiliating yourself. If you don't have something clever to say then i suggest you shut the fuck up and take that pseudo macho attitude somewhere else.

  • She is VERY stupid. Sorry, feminists.

  • @munizrfelipe Well I don't think so.Women now have to work.

  • @claireshanaaprileve GTFO, feminazist. I've seen your comments around YouTube. "We don't need men, men are all the same, men who have problem with women are gay". You are misandric, so stop being such an hypocrite. Did you have daddy issues? Boo hoo. Grow up and realise society has nothing to do with it.

  • What show is this?

  • I wish I can shake this guys hand

  • I love how the interviewer is putting words in his mouth and hearing what she wants to hear.

Listen to the man, you stupid bitch.

  • @SwampLord9 Shes just like any orther women i have ever known.

  • Incidentally that woman is giving a perfect example of something known as the argument from intimidation. I don't really know if I agree 100% with what Hitchens is saying here, but if you disagree then you should give an argument, not just 'you're 61, not 180... surely that is just your sense of irony...'

She just made assertions that he is a sexist without any attempt to show his argument was wrong, as though he will make the argument for her if she threatens him enough with a boogie word.

  • I don't see this is at all sexist... I mean he basically noted, a women can work if she wants, but if she wishes to look after their child that's also fine, that's called a freedom of choice, with both parents responsibility... It's almost as if she took that out of context as offensive and kept pushing him to say something that would be anything cont reversal.

  • dumb atheist bitch

  • Oh god... Does she listen to him AT ALL?!?!

  • @Guitareben nope.

    shes an atheist

atheists dont listen they just assume :)

  • @9II2001 and what do religious people do?

  • @IoIocaust Religious people don't assume there is a magic Sky Wizard, they listen to others who tell them there is a magic Sky Wizard. This is less ludicrous because there is no assumption.

Blanket statement for a blanket statement. :D

  • @IoIocaust idk im not religious , you're the expert here dumbfuck

  • @9II2001 No we don't. Look up the definition of atheism and listen to some serious arguments for atheism.

  • @Torchmark definition of atheism....hate on others?..

  • What a fucking moron, listen to what he is saying before you start trying to take offense to it.

  • @assbitchfucky But what's feminists do, cause they're full of shit and women scorns.

  • shes a dumb bitch

  • @playinballin2012 And you are a dumb women hating fuck

  • WTF? he just said that women don't HAVE to work if they don't want to, and that it is the same for men, i wanna kill that interviewer

  • @hampannswede Well said, If Hitchens was a sexist, then she's a fucking money hooker.

  • @hampannswede Well he's basically saying women offer nothing to the workforce.

  • @hampannswede I'm not really sure why everyone's likeing your comment. He certainly did not say that it was the same for men. His implication was that women were better child caregivers and men better hunters/gatherers and that WOMEN (who are the "gentler sex") shouldn't have to work (outside of the home). He never suggested that MEN should not have to work. For better or worse many women do see that kind of attitude ("I'll take care of you baby")nas patronizing and at least mildly sexist.

  • @JeremysVideos2 Well sure but you gotta agree, you can't really get offended by what he says. I quote "I'd be thrilled if women want to work". And by the way, in every species on the planet, the female is the one taking most responsibility for the children and the man is the one "working". So practically, he's just saying how it is, and the dumbass-interviewer is too fucking dumb to understand.

  • @JeremysVideos2

Then many woman should be shackled in cuffs and forced to work in labor camps.. If thats what they want ?

He isnt even saying he wouldnt like her wife to work he said " i´d be thrilled if she would" He is merely being generous by saying " she shouldnt if she doesnt want too" and that is in no way patronizing.

So every generous sentence is now patronizing to the reciever ? or is it only when its a feminist who is recieving it..

  • But again, to understand feminism one has to understand most radical liberal thinking, which is driven by the belief that reality is socially conditioned, above everything. In the view of many liberals, if you change social conditioning then you change our reality. In other words, reality is malleable. Hitchens clearly believes that gender differences are partly inherent and partly socially constructed, and his view is much more sensible.

  • It's just our nature. The superficial feminism practices by likes of the interviewer here is very abstract and pushes a view that doesn't fit reality. But in reality women are less likely to be driven to work than men. This doesn't mean this is true of all women, but by and large this is the way it is. Hitch is just saying it like it is. He is also right to say that women like to be taken care of, and this is also true - by and large. Not all of them. Not this lady. But most.

  • @chapaev36 Hello where is the double blind study with that?

  • sexist? he said nothing sexist at all.

  • am i deaf? blind? wheres the controversy in this? he says its great that women work, but they dont have to; whats wrong with that

  • She got so wet.

  • He's trolling her so hard.

  • Note the language: "Any woman OF MINE . . ." This is the guy that criticizes religion for its patriarchal domination. Dominator, heal thyself.

  • He basically said they could do either. One more option than most men get.

  • Bitch Hitchens said they can if they want to. Men would become extinct and completely useless if they didn't work and bring back food.

  • nothing sexist about it.

  • he said he thinks men should take care of women and she's all bitch bitch bitch

there is no pleasing any thing in a skirt

  • @MykeOkslong Yeah seems u hate women must be gay?

  • pfft..women.

  • i call b.s. on the authenticity of the books on the shelves in the background.

  • The host thinks women should be FORCED to work? I don't think she understands the position she is taking.

  • Nice. He starts baiting her once he realizes her incredulity is getting in the way of her reasoning.

  • I wish women did believe in going out to earn their own living. Trouble is a lot of them want to go out to work in order to earn pocket money whilst living off the man's income, essentially using the man as a walking ATM machine. Hitchens is just pandering to the obsolescent "caveman going out to kill the wild deer" views mercenary women get off on, only being equal until it comes to the man's wallet. Idiot.

  • How many feminists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Trick question. Feminists can't change anything.

  • This is funny considering hitchens was a terrible absentee derelict father.

  • @tooyjfwn you his biographer? or one of his kids maybe?

  • Comment removed

  • He is not being sexist..he's just stating what he thinks about it! He said over and over again that women can work if they want to, but HE doesn't think they should. THAT'S ALL. It's just his opinion and he has a right to it. Btw I'm a woman. And I am not the least bit offended by his view of women working because it doesn't affect me. And about the beginning he said MOST MEN, not ALL MEN. Maybe you should listen to what he's actually saying before you get angry. HE IS NOT BEING SEXIST.

  • @sweetjossekling Its not that that made him sexist, read the last comment before this one.

  • so she'd have preffered women must work. What an idiot

  • She was gracious. I think he was flirting with her before and after the show!

  • I sure as hell wouldn't go out to work if I didn't have to. I love puttering around the house, cooking and cleaning and making videos and running around doing errands. Sorry but I do and it's work in itself anyway. Tons of work.

  • She didn't really get what he was saying lol.

  • how stupid is this woman

  • "not if they don't want to" he is giving them a choice... what is so "sexist" about that.

  • @TheWhiskeyClone why do women deserve the choice

well either men are less capable of childcare

or women are less capable of work

these are stereotypes based on sex without reason as they do not universally or even significantly apply

Sexism - also known as gender discrimination or sex discrimination, is defined as prejudice or discrimination based on sex; or behavior, conditions, or attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles based on sex

  • @TheBluePianist There's only one major flaw in your theory, and that is that men ARE less capable then women at childcare. Not to say that men are inherintly bad, or that even all women are good at it. But there are reasons you never hear about faternal instincts.

  • @Lectricfuneral then it wouldn't be a theory would it. you've never seen the word paternal before.

"even all women are good at it", if i present the argument to you at a 5% level of signficance, what do you think the outcome would be. i think that the difference between male and female care would be too small to be considered correlated to gender

i'm not open to further discussion

  • @TheBluePianist "I'm not open to further discussion." AKA "I'm an extremely arrogant douche bag who believes that I am smarter then every one else and I will continue to act like a jackass because there are no reprocussions to my totally unacceptable attitude since I'm seated safely behind a computer screen miles away." Even if you were right, which I won't get back into because you're "not open to further discussion," it doesn't give you the right to be a smug little asshole.

  • @Lectricfuneral no it means i'm a university student who is doing 3 jobs and applying for a 4th to live with a passion for music...i comment occasionally because i'm keen to know how people respond to my views and if they can probe me to study new areas without getting into heated debates with close friends etc. don't be so judgemental i've just grown comfortable with my view now and no longer need to debate

calling somebody and "arrogant douchebag" is both arrogant and douchey.

  • @TheBluePianist "calling somebody and 'arrogant douchebag' is both arrogant and douchey." Not when they're acting like an arrogant douchebag :)

  • poor guy, didn't take much to set her off, what a bitch.

  • If it walks like a prick, it prolly is a prick...

  • Stupid woman. Don't you dare insult your guest with your closing comments... ! WHO IS THIS WOMAN -- is she 180?!

  • @dalmurja I like Hitchens very much, but he is a sexist, if he believes in a fundamental difference between the sexes.

  • @Limposium Believing that there are differences is different from discriminating based on those differences. It's ludicrous to deny that there are differences between genders and races. It's not sexist to point out the differences between men and women, just as it's not racist to point out differences between races. The problem is when you start treating people unfairly because of it.

  • @tokoloshe7 "Sexism, also known as gender discrimination or sex discrimination, is defined as prejudice or discrimination based on sex; or behavior, conditions, or attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles based on sex."

I think that descibes his attitude rather well. His case might be one of light sexism and I do not think he would want to impose his views on others, but still. Also, whether there is such a fundamental difference, is another question.

  • @Limposium There are fundamental differences between the sexes though.

  • What is the name of this woman? Please post it so we can all hate her.

  • Correct: That woman is fucking stupid.

  • Conclusion: Feminists are fucking stupid

  • I give up.
