  • Best song on the record

  • What the hell dont compare this album at all to grunge ... STP evolves so much and to this point so far away from grunge if it still was grunge then maybe I dont know

  • best song on the album

  • STP's best work could still be in front of them if they are willing to take a commercial risk...an all out art-rock derived concept album in the mold of houses of the holy.with a nod to yes and king crimson.

  • Stp has always paid tribute to their great forebears..what a tremendous send up of david bowie !

  • @LanceHelmut As soon as Scott started singing I immediately thought of David Bowie...

  • @dylanfan1969 Totally Dude!! As I did, Bowies influence on Scott is very easy too see & hear... Sound & Vision !!

  • sounds a little like david bowie

  • @mrmethane72 Absolutely Right !!

  • Best song I've heard recently from ANYBODY, can't stop playing this. To think I used to hate these guys!!!

  • This past summer, i was driving home with my fiance from camping. Played the whole cd for her. This was one of her favorite songs. Something about the mood that's created from music and creates a permanent impact/memory on the love you feel. Thanks STP for that moment.

  • @MrStew091 cool bro, congrats on the engagement!

  • One of the best songs on the album. Great album too.

  • he kinda sounds like Bowie vocally....wht a cool vibe this song has!

  • @matco24 and lou reed a bit

  • is there 2 diff lead singers or something?

  • @XXtrckstarXX9 nope, they juust layer scott's vocals.

  • @NOTHINGTOSEEtheband there is probably alittle rob in there too

  • @JDALIVETUBE it sounded like it, so you're probably right.

  • @XXtrckstarXX9 no he`s just so versatile

  • simple great.

  • STP Changed..but they're still good.

  • He sounds like David Bowie in this song.

  • @cometandcupids That's kinda the whole point of the song :-)

  • @cometandcupids yep alot of influence on this one they did that alot with the songs on this tune

  • Im in love with this song, man, lyrically it just made it that much better. Vocals are hypnotic and are able to take you back into your own past..Very very cool. What pisses me the fuck off is that its worthy of radio but they don't wont play it. Its not "hip hop" enough...God I miss the 80's and 90's when this music ruled.

  • @MDC01FLY They just played this song today in the radio, but I totally agree with everything you said.

  • grunge is back

  • @thedeadlysphinxes This is hardly grunge, though.

  • @marinebiobry well i can agree with you but still it sounds like his voice is deeper like the first 2 albums when I heard tiny music i was impressed but still his style changed

  • Uh-mazingg. I don't care how old you are, what year it is, or what you listen too. Stone Temple Pilots never go out of style. Their songs remind you of good days, summer nights, && everything inbetween. I just can't get enough of their music,(:

  • @JulietAndHearts well put hun

  • Thank God for these cats....

  • He's starting to sound like David Bowie, haha.

  • Its bad when the best album of 2010 is by a band that if being honest prime is far long gone, and have just come back after a 9 year hiatus, but that is exactly what this is. STP some how turned out a very credible album without sacrificing their original sound to much, and seeming somewhat relative in the process. This thing beats out any new rock act going today.

  • @noblesiner They were written off early in their career and it turned out that they outlasted all of their peers, even with the hiatus.

  • Reel Over!!

  • Should've been the closing track in my opinion.

  • I wish there was a live version of this song. I guess they've yet to play it live anywhere?

  • have liked em from day one now that i started to play the guitar i like em more. i get to see live for the first time next month cant wait.. lol Scott cracks me up dancing

  • My favorite song of 2010. Me and my girlfriend will get drunk and sing this at the top of our lungs. Good times :)

  • IM HAPPY THEY ARE TOGETHER THEY ARE THE BEST :)

  • click your heels at the bi-winning disco

  • Yes it is, we can hear the David Bowie influences in Scott first vocal parts

  • What song by David Bowie do you really consider this a ripoff of?

  • suena muy david bowie, esta bueno

  • oh my god this is so beautiful

  • trust me guys...while I'm listening this song...I swear to God, it just gave me shivers, and even though it reminded me on Bowie, I still thank God that there is still my music around and alive...(you know what I mean by ''my music'')...90s, alternative grunge, so passionatte and strong with lyrics...fuck I might as well cry as a pussy now ;)

  • david bowie

  • I wanna find the lovely magic place we dream of super magic robots in the solar system :D

  • @DieHardGardenFan ...That some good shit you're smokin' ;)

  • Best Tip-of-The-Hat to Bowie I've heard in a long, long while. Funny how Scott was also tipping his hat to another former junkie - Lou Reed - on 'Hickory Dichotomy', oh, of course ... Scott's immense talent aside, no wonder he's so good at it.

  • best song on the album i must say

  • this song sounds like david bowie, kicks ass.

  • i gotta say it, didn't think I would. GREAT bOwIe reference in the voice here for scott. Way 2 go!

  • mars attacks again...

    Scott Bowie rocks!!!

  • Sometimes Scott almost out-Bowies Bowie! Check out the Bowie song title references in this song, from the title itself (a nod to big Dave's "Life on Mars") to "Modern Love" and (obliquely) "Drive-in Saturday". Scott Bowie, David Weiland.

  • i like the track, but can see myself getting boared of it very quick. Very dated style of writing.

  • one. beautiful. song.you gotta love this

  • \\//_

    __/

is a bad album :) too bad their cover artwork wasnt the middle finger :) hahaha

    FUCK THE CRITICS OF STP

  • could be a song from david bowie

  • @brainfoodjunky could be, I mean even the title is something David Bowie would use. LOL

  • Damn that sounds like Bowie. It even has "Mars" in the title. Blimey, Weiland want's to be Bowie even more than Brett Anderson! :)

  • @odgeUK lol seen that after my post, so you also have a good ear! xD

  • ok, no one seems to know, i don't think, to me, there's any doubt that's David Bowie singing with Scott... I don't think it's Scott singing like him, that has to be David

  • man i listen to this a figging 100 times it is the best,!!!! so different that there normal !

  • STP is BAAAAACK!!! BITCHES! Best band ever. You fuck faces!

  • I will keep it going... Nickelback is the band we love to hate!!!

  • I like how this song has an old rock sound to it. Great. I hope old school rock and roll is coming back. Enough with this horrible music that makes up 80 to 90% of the music out there these days.

  • lol people don't know how old school stone temple pilots are. somebody actually asked me if they were a new band when i showed him this song. LOLOLOLOL god im glad there back together, velvet revolver wasn't good enough for scott!

  • @Blacklisted42069 Velvet Revolver was alot bigger than people think.. there debut disc sold 7 million and that was unheard of with hard rock, especially newer bands.. I love VR but STP are my gods.. Wow the new disc is superb and is my favorite.. THIS SONG AND MAVER I THOUGHT SHOULD OF BEEN PUT TOWARDS THE BEGINNING OF THE DISC BUT NOW I CAN GET EXCITED FOR THE ENDING AS THE TWO BEST SONGS ARE ON IT.. CINNAMON IS GREAT TOO!! FIRST KISS IS BOWIE ESQUE AND BEST STP SONG THIS DECADE

  • Being inspired by Bowie is a recognition to having good taste, the melody is amazing... finally real music not the junk put out the last decade

  • @Oskarft agree but man do they have to channel bowie so obviously. Scott even says "modern Love" in this song. Not just this song either. Other bowie borrowing in another one on this album. In the past STP would "work" the song into an original sound that its not so obvious who inspired them. Not this time.

  • @jbsouthpaw2009 Yes he mentions Modern Love wich is a big 80's bowie track.. Weiland has given off a bowie look since i first saw the video for Big Bang Baby, then Lady Picture Show gave off an official psychedellic vibe that was morrisson/bowie esque... But as we heard songs like those and Atlanta and then Wonderful and Sour Girl it has been evident that Weiland is influenced by the doors, Bowie and fuck that mostly bowie.. Weiland has his own staple but he compliments bowie

  • STONE TEMPLE BOWIE!!!! COOOOOLL!!!

  • See song just got to the solo. They always put together some real good music.

  • Is it me or has STP always been way too underrated for their talent, while Nirvana was always too overrated?

  • very much a bowie ripoff!

  • @loveisthelaw20042004 Well, you can definitely consider it a ripoff of Bowie if you like, but it's a pretty fucking damn good one. I personally don't see it as a ripoff. I see scott bring the style back to the mid to late 80's and even early 90's. It's the style of music, remember that. One thing people forget is how well the music industry peaked in the 80's and throughout the 90's. Right now they have ignored all that good stuff and focus on pop artist now.

  • I gotta say, I am SO sick of people saying things like STP hasn't been good since Core and Purple. People please, GET OVER IT. I love Core and Purple! Love them! But STP is so much more than just those two albums. Their music has matured. NO band whose music stays the same lasts very long or has much historical impact. If The Beatles wrote Love Me Do over and over again, then there would have been no Sgt. Pepper or Abbey Road. Same goes with STP. I think people just don't "get it".

  • @Fivehorizons2000....THANK YOU! I couldn't agree with you more.

  • @Fivehorizons2000

Don't pay attention to these people... They are too ignorant to realize what STP is all about. They're real musicians exploring music as real professionals and doing a fantastic job.

STP is my favorite band by far and honestly, when they did purple and core people labled them as nirvana or PJ rip offs but now that they do unique and beautifull songs ppl complain.

  • @Fivehorizons2000 well, there are a lot of people that just listened to core and think that is how stone temple pilots was. But every single CD they have made has always been different compared to the previous. I tend to ignore those kinds of people, they are the same people that listen to only that one song on the CD over and over and over again. It's understandable if you need to get the song out of your head, but a lot of people don't, they just like that one song and not the rest.

  • @Fivehorizons2000

Same thing happened to Pearl Jam with TEN or VS. Totally Agree.

  • @danysaschaja Exactly. Good comparison. There are tons of people who own Ten and possibly VS., but if you mention Yield or Backspacer, they have no idea. Some think all PJ ever did was Evenflow and Jeremy (both classics of course), but they have become a better and more mature band since then. Better year after year, album after album.

  • @Fivehorizons2000 Slight correction: Backspacer has actually had a lot of commercial success b/c PJ has marketed this one a lot. But mention, say, the No Code album, and people are lost.

  • in the first 3 seconds I though FOO FIGHTERS! which is a good thing

  • Best LP released in quite some time. Wow much better than even expected. And the production is amazing. Im glad Scott still owns the title best frontman in Rock.

  • man this album rocks

  • he does sound like bowie. i like alot of early bowie stuff like the album 1984, that era. this STP song is great, best band from the 90's - from my perspective the mantle passed from beattles - zeppelin - van halen - gnr - stp

  • love this song

  • love this Song !

  • wow remember kitchenware and candybars, his singing on this track reminds me of the last two mins of tht song :L

  • huge bowie influence !! still great song and my fav american rock band and by far , the best !!!

  • This song should've been the 2nd single, not 'Take A Big Dump.' Missed opportunity.

  • This song should've been the 2nd single, not 'Take A Big Dump.'

  • yes man you are right .90 rocksssss.....

  • stp forever the best band of the earlys 90.......

  • @pachirron best band of the 90s period

  • jsem opravdu rád že se mí stone temple pilots vrátili a přijedte už konečně do české republiky rád bych vás tady viděl

  • Another great song from another great STP album....very beatles-esque

  • Is the best song of this album. Amazing song

  • can i just say..... this is where this dude belongs. VR were just an awful commercial - wagon! STP are amazing

  • @jebadiah4 VR are amazing and so are STP!

  • Yessssssssss El Scott is back in the saddle with STP

  • WEILANDDDDDDDDDD FUCKING GENIUSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

  • GREAT SONG... can we really fiiiind a lovely magic place we dream off... STP is really magic... great italian men De Leo and Scott

  • He DEF sounds like Bowie in this song. I haven't heard this song yet. Had a car accident and have been outta touch with my music for a whole. I clicked on this song because I had a feeling he would sound like Bowie because of the title.....Ziggy Stardust spent alot of time on Mars....Scott sounds AWESONE on this album!!!

  • @youctoo notice the line "they might drive in 'Modern Love" also a "Bowie" reference, I think this song is about his ex wife whom Scott seems to write alot about, with the reference of the bi-polar disco, Scott is pure magic at writting in double entendre. his lyrics seem so full of double meanings and little references, I personally find his lyric always very clever and much deeper than most critics or detractors would give him credit for! This is going to be the big summer radio hit of 2010!

  • @Bobbovich1969 , I totally agree man..

  • the line is date night, drive in, modern love

  • @Bobbovich1969 agree. i honestly would of never guessed "kitchenware & candybars" was about an abortion (he mentioned it on storytellers a few years ago)..

  • @YOUCTOO THE LYRIC IS ... " DATE NIGHT DRIVE IN MODERN LOVE"

  • @Bobbovich1969 For the record, I never heard this song AT ALL on the radio in 2010. Loved it, but never heard it. :)

  • @Sarjie Ya no doubt, here in Canada on alternative rock radio, Cinnamon got the nod. Radio singles from this album (in Canada at least) came out as Between the Lines, Take a Load Off, and Cinnamon. I think this song would have been the better tune to release in place of Cinnamon, but what do I know.

    Cheers

  • Stein Tempel Piloten 4ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD rate this comment or prepare to die.

  • little diferent from wielands last work in shiny pants in an underground tunnel

  • the new cd is very pop

  • @joeykurt75 yea, I thought that too at first, especially between the lines. But after listening to the cd a couple times, it definitely passes as an STP album for sure. I put it in there with Tiny Music and No.4 definitely

  • Alot o people wants STP to go back to there roots, via core or purple stage, it took this long for them to get this far despite the troubles over the years, but people get over it, they move on. exactly what stp is doing, evolution baby!!!!

  • Each time I listen to this album, I there's always a song that I'm listening to where I go "I could see this song as a single." Right now, it's First Kiss On Mars. This is along with 5 other tracks: Take A Load Off, Hickory Dichotomy, Cinnamon, Bagman, and Fast As I Can. This is such a strong album full of songs that people can listen to all the way through. Nothing is skipped. Best album of 2010 so far!

  • really good new stp!! i love this song!

  • David Bowie eque.. fucking love it!!

  • I heard this CD over the weekend 3 times. I love it. This song DEFINITELY reminds me of Bowie. It's the first thing I thought of when I heard it.

  • this isn't pop nor alt rock it's STP. They creat thier own brand of Rock n Roll. Think back to the Cars. You couldn't actually say they were New Wave, Pop nor straight Rock. They were the Cars. Every song on this Cd could cross over to all charts. That's Rock n Roll.

  • all the songs r actuall pretty damn good,ur just not a true stp fan

  • Bowie is only good if ya like his stuff, well i do not like bowie's music, its not my thing and i hate it when scott does this shit its him trying to be bowie be your self man FuuuuCCCCK ooOFF with this shit.

  • @CraigRattleHead shut up asshole. david bowie is too good and complex for you bitch.

  • une of my favorite song of the new album

    STP rocks

  • Reminds me of David Blowie

  • @CKing180 You probably would've said the same thing when Tiny Music came out, and then No. 4, and then Shangri La Dee Da. STP isn't a band that tries to rip off itself

  • Great Song!!! STP keeps rocking!!! And this is STP. Scott Weiland and Robert DeLeop have many different influences in music and it shows with each new album. So stop bashing and go listen to your Creed Album.

  • @CKing180 agreed, and ive been listening since core. He just sounds worn out.

  • He still seems to be pumping it out. And anyone that can survive his lifestyle and still produce, has my respect.

    "Everything in moderation, even moderation"

    -Scott Weiland-

  • Great song! Love the Bowie influence!

  • @shogunslinger im sorry but i choose GDay Over Nickelback any day..

    xD

  • I want to start hearing this on the radio its only fair . and much more !!!

  • Best song on the new record! Which is by far...the best record in YEARS! STP is back baby!

  • @calangodoido FUCK YES!

  • This is the one I can't get out of my head (Good thing). I hear the melody with the Country sounding guitar as I'm going to sleep at night. So beautiful!

  • the whole album is imo:)

  • STP rules! This album has such a great variety of styles, i'll never bore of it!

  • @TantheMan223 Exactly. I guess I can understand people wanting just another "Core" album which makes me sad because I HATE bands that make the same record over and over again. STP is never boring because they're good at all the styles they experiment with. They're truly magnificent musicians and I'm in love with this album just as much as "Purple" which came out when I was 14 and I was an STP fan for life.

  • @thesilvershining If I wanted to hear the same CD over and over again I'd listen to shitty Nickelback

  • @MikeDiamond69 I wouldn't listen to Nickelback no matter what. I'd just put Core on repeat.

  • @TheAxeMan12321 Hey buddy, nobody hates Nickelback more then me!!!

But because you do dislike Nickelback I can call you my brother

  • @MikeDiamond69 hey fuck you nickleback is better than the shit you listen to like green day fag.

  • @jjc19461 Nickelback are the worst band in music history and Green Day blows dog to...

  • @MikeDiamond69 listen mike. nickleback fucking sucks ass. i'm not even a greenday fan but they're alot better than that fucking nickleback. biggest disgrace to canada ever.

  • @roejogan8 I soooo love to hate Nickelback!!! Green Day is better then Nickelback by far... Nickelback are the worst band in music history!!!

  • @MikeDiamond69 why do you find it good to hate. Why dont you just prior the stuff you like instead....

  • @TheMrNotes When it comes to Nickelback it is good "to hate"

  • @MikeDiamond69 certainly not. I never listened to them, but i wouldnt say stuff like that. Keep it going, its just totally unnessecary

  • @MikeDiamond69 y'all are absolutely right! Nickelback is so f*cking bad! What's up with those guys??! they've gotta know that they're not fooling anyone over 22...

  • @MikeDiamond69 why are you talking about shitty bands on STP music??

  • @MikeDiamond69 nah dude i dont think anyone hates nickelback more than me... i would rather listen to white lion, cheesy 80s power ballads, jonas brothers, and some other shitty cheesy bands before i would ever dare listen to a nickelback cd... jesus christ i think NB's singer has throat cancer or something

  • @thesilvershining Totally agree, i hate bands that release the same records numerous times, that's why i stopped listening to ACDC, :P

Love this album, and love Purple.

  • Makes me wish I could crank my computer speakers to 11
