Glynn didn't favor Nino, but he respected the way Nino carried himself, and didn't exploit their relationship. Peter, the new generation without morals, overplayed his hand with Glynn and everyone else in Oz, and paid for it every time.

That's not the way many including myself interpret this. His past mistake was not very credible either. He was not only ordered but pressured by "the family" to kill Adibisi, and there they wee in the cafeteria without any weapons to "kill" this big guy, just him and Pancamo, it look more like a shoving match than a hit. The whole Schibetta (both)/Adibisi/O'Reilly connection was one of the weaker points of the show.
what do you mean by credible? and...the day Schibetta was raped was not just any fight, if you see the scene again you can see the Schibetta paid the guard to leave him, Pancamo and Simon alone. So it really was planned it's just that Schibetta was dumb enough to only bring Pancamo, he should've known best. I also think that Schibetta was put on the show to balance all the gangs as the italians are never show to have any other weeknes but him.

There was one character on Oz whom I always disliked, and it's Kareem Said. He was too self righteous for his own good and a hypocrite on top of that. Schibetta should have made an alliance with the Nazis and killed Said. That would have erased the stigma of being a 'prag' not to mention sparing him from the fate of being raped AGAIN when he tries to kill Shillinger later on. All in all, you just have to feel bad for this poor guy!

greg720, I agree. The show basically begins by showing Nino Shibetta's generation, the era of the gangster with a moral code, is over, and sets up the chaos of the following six seasons.
Glynn didn't favor Nino, but he respected the way Nino carried himself, and didn't exploit their relationship. Peter, the new generation without morals, overplayed his hand with Glynn and everyone else in Oz, and paid for it every time.

That's not the way many including myself interpret this. His past mistake was not very credible either. He was not only ordered but pressured by "the family" to kill Adibisi, and there they wee in the cafeteria without any weapons to "kill" this big guy, just him and Pancamo, it look more like a shoving match than a hit. The whole Schibetta (both)/Adibisi/O'Reilly connection was one of the weaker points of the show.

what do you mean by credible? and...the day Schibetta was raped was not just any fight, if you see the scene again you can see the Schibetta paid the guard to leave him, Pancamo and Simon alone. So it really was planned it's just that Schibetta was dumb enough to only bring Pancamo, he should've known best. I also think that Schibetta was put on the show to balance all the gangs as the italians are never show to have any other weeknes but him.

I know that it was set up, I was trying to point out that it a poor assisination attempt beyong belief. By credible I mean that he was ordered by the family to kill Adibisi, how does he expect to kill him, by fist fighting? Also the Italians would never do business with someone that raped their boss, like in the show. It sends the wrong message, which O'Reilly takes into account and fucks with them by saying Peter put a "red eye" on Pancamo.

lol that was the whole point!!!!!! of course it was the stupidest thing to do!!!! and it happened like that because the show was trying to show that Schibetta was not ready to run the italians and he was unexperienced! the whole point about Schibetta is that he's trying to follow his father's footsteps but he fails horribly each time, the only reason the italians stood by his side as long as they did was because of his father...that's not a mistake from the show, thats what they intended

Anyways the best dramas have some level of reality, from all the stuff on Oz (O'Reilly falling in love with Dr. Nathan, everyone else's past enemy ending up on Em City, etc) this was the one that irritated me. They could have definately made more out of P. Schibetta, even after what happened to him, instead of having the predictable O'Reilly scheme.

Well yes and no, alot of mafia has become legit and less illegal. The real mafia is more centered on legitimate business with added extralegal affairs on the side as well as certain scare tactics. I suppose they're weaker overall in terms of trafficking and being able to blatantly be illegal but in alot of other ways they're still powerful. Certainly more than shown here lol But then again, there aren't 95 rape/murders every day in prison either so Oz is more about fun then realism lol

There was one character on Oz whom I always disliked, and it's Kareem Said. He was too self righteous for his own good and a hypocrite on top of that. Schibetta should have made an alliance with the Nazis and killed Said. That would have erased the stigma of being a 'prag' not to mention sparing him from the fate of being raped AGAIN when he tries to kill Shillinger later on. All in all, you just have to feel bad for this poor guy!

Eddie Malavarca (Peter Schibetta) has the sexiest mysterious dark eyes I've ever seen on a man. He is very courageous to play Peter Schibetta & took on one of the most challenging roles of out of the Oz characters. I'd love to see much more of him in future as information on this gifted actor is very rare to find.
Is it possible if somebody could install Peter Schibetta behaving so cocky towards the inmates as I've missed out between seasons 1-4?
