In addition to "Captain Kangaroo" having a much heralded gentleness, it also had an urbane humor about it that made the program unmistakably right out of NYC. It had been on at least a full decade, at least, before I ever saw it, probably, but I think people from Gen X, and not just Baby Boomers, have very fond memories of this guy's show on CBS. It was great, and this is a terrific interview.
