  • My take on this is that an auto mechanic ought to be in there somewhere. Sometimes that is a crossover with the handyman, sometimes not. Once upon a time it may have been practically the same, but nowdays, you will need mechanics around. On the defense person, that requires maybe the highest level of selection, but the least amount of training. A couple of security and shooting schools could bring someone pretty well up to speed. Obviously, everyone cross trains a little bit.

  • can you do a video on urban survival groups and how to street defend please, i see gangs and looters causing havoc and would like to know your opinion on defending and surviving in an urban neighbourhood! cheers

  • As always, your videos are thoughtful and thought provoking... Thanks man

  • His statements about population loss are not wrong those are the FEMA estimates, they may not go all at once and some will undoubtly go due to being shot or kiled over supply squables, Deasese and other sickness as medication runs out will kill off more, others will sucome to accidents and general mayhem, and then there will be the population that starves slowly but with no thought of how to help them selves, fortune favors the prepared.

  • It is 2500 Kcal per person per day! Not per 6 months. I like your videos!

  • Others that come to mind are a veterinarian, dentist, minister, & teacher. Also, it's important to recognize that we ALL have skills that are valuable & transferable. I own a retail store, and in a WROL situation I could set up barter systems or a marketplace, do inventory control or train people. At-home moms could do daycare while others hunt, patrol, etc. Entertainers would be great for morale. A lawyer could help set up a very basic justice system & arbitrate disagreements. GREAT VIDEO!

  • What experts? You seem to be over exaggerating. Now what your say is important and it is time for Americans to get accounted with their community. But how can a collapse kill 90 percent of the population? What is your source of all this? That would mean about 270 million Americans will die. WWII was little over 56, million death in all nations that participated. The Great depression killed 12 million. I am concerned about the future to but this sounds like fear mongering.

  • @WEH1123 These where government experts that said in a worse case situation and a grid down situation. Fear mongering.....I share with you what I believe and now its fear mongering...okay you caught me Iam trying to scare you so you buy my products Iam selling and invest your money in what Iam pushing.

  • @WEH1123 People where much more autonomous during the depression.

  • @GoodMeAre Their will be a higher death rate than the depression perhaps but you also forget that humans are very adaptable. This is how we survived weird environments and even dangerous odd.

  • @WEH1123 the great depression didn't kill anywhere near that many people.

  • @trollprepper how many died? Long story short you seem to be auguring on my side weather you planed to or not because if the depression did not kill as many as I claimed it would show that 90% of the American population is a way over it. Unless this collapses leads to CWII and WWIII combined and all the "pending" type 4 infection like Small Pox, maybe. You can not kill 90% with a collapses alone. The USSR collapsed and it did not kill 90% of it pop, it was bad however.

  • @WEH1123 yep, totally on your side, stacking cans of beans, and voting for non-socialist pricks

  • @WEH1123

    1940: 56m out of 2bn = 2.8%

    2010: 270m out of 7bn = 3.8%

    Not such a big difference....

  • @mryellow123 Excellent statistical comparison! People are so quick to ignore simple details like population growth and attrition from privation, starvation and disease.

  • @WEH1123 I've used world pop there so not exactly what you're saying.... but yeah peak population isn't so many years away regardless of events/resources/whatever

  • @WEH1123 You honestly absorbed this whole video as fear mongering?

  • @WEH1123 I suggest you learn about what effect a nation wide EMP would have on the US.

  • You might be setting the bar a little high for defence. Any former army or marine NCO should know how to do a basic terrain analysis and set up a defensive peremeter. Veterans could also be double slotted if you are short on personnel. Ex-signal corps, engineers, medics, and mechanics for example. Just a thought. Over all a very well put togather presentation and gives us all a lot to think about.

  • what good are all those first ones when you had to move positions and find food outside? i say ourrdoors man is more then last. they can get food fix it and also have weapon knowledge

  • A doctor IMHO would be close to useless without access to their technology and drugs. Proper nutrition, exercise are better ways to stay healthy and most people can easily learn to do sutures and other basic wilderness trauma treatment.

  • Doctor, Paramedic

    Sniper/Designated Marskman/G.I/Reserve/ArmedForces/Police

    Gardener, Animal Farmer

    Coordinator

    Electrician, Mechanic, Firearms Mechanic

Each member would have Secondary and 3rd Specialties among each other's expertise,

    Hunter, Fisherman

  • I would team up with sincere, honest followers of a religion. The trust in God will keep dishonest people away and give strength in hard time :) The enemy is not if your black or white, christ or muslim, man or woman. They try to devide and conquer the people this way so they can exploit the populus, becaus ethey are busy hating each other instead of seeing the human being in everyone! All religions are against greed, so this is the kind of people you wanna be with :)

  • mike good info brother god bless u and yours take care pray pray pray

  • When the SHTF you may not have the capability to hop in your car and hook up with your buddies at your bugout location. If your survival group lives in your neighborhood, that's great. But you may have to improvise. Get to know your neighbors beforehand. (easier said than done...). But I think it's wise to stockpile supplies to make your own family as self-sufficient as possible. If you run across a doctor after TSHTF, he may not have any medical supplies to work with. Anticipate that scenario.

  • @zulucowboy We have a pharmist , RN and EMT in our group so this is a good start but a doctor would be great. We have stocked all kinds of equipment and supplies that are probably out of our skill set right now but we are learning and also if we find a doctor he will have alot of things he will need because we have put them back. If you go to any 3rd world country you can probably find a doctor but he will not have supplies to help you that is why we stock ALOT of medical supplies.

  • If there are children in the group you might need teachers or people to keep the children occupied until they can work. But this would be after you get the "surviving" out of the way and start "living" I suppose.

  • your all going to die if any thing will happen you will kill each other when the food runs out so go and enjoy life wile you still can

  • @THETHOMASBOIS Thanks for your concerns about me. I guess I pick my friends better than you. We have already gone thru tough times so they have proven themselves already. I do enjoy life everyday.

  • What about training people to shoot in a WROL should you have a indoor range somewhere underground or what?

  • @Tux3d0 A indoor range would be great but most people dont have one. So you will have to improvise.

  • @southernprepper1 A quick way to commit suicide in case all else fails would be great!

  • Man...this is the BEST prepper channel on YouTube. I used to think Yankee Prepper was the best channel. Your information is so much better and right to the point without all the emotional issues Yankee Prepper gets into. I am so glad to have found your channel. Keep up the great work. You are the best.

  • @johnny102marvin YankeePrepper is an Asshole at times but he is cool too :D

  • In a total collapse if 90 percent of the sheeple die then it's a matter of time til china, russia or some other foreign power moves in. Don't think I want to 'survive' for that.

There's nothing wrong with learning any of this, there are many things that can happen, but most famines are caused by political decisions, just as the economic collapse is political.

We need to stop hunkering down for the apocalypse and think Normandy.

Don't understand? Follow my links. Read the quotes page first.

  • Southernprepper1, I just discovered your channel today. I am impressed you are doing what has been missing on you tube. I would suggest adding a storekeeper/cook.

Someone needs to be responsible for food and other stores. Cooking from food storage takes a special person. I for instance am learning to make bread without electricity. I have wheat berries, countryliving grain mill and a solar oven. I am learning to do things by hand and with my solar oven. Thanks, for your teaching.

  • Don't agree with the police thing 90% of cops are prior military. Besides we know the meaning of a team and if you have a specialized unit you will have some good training but overall good vid

  • How about a scrounger/fenagler guy? Someone adept at "finding" things, bartering, aquisition, etc. Compliments the handyman. It amazes me how much stuff is free still. I get free: new barb wire, steel drums, used motor oil, waste veggy oil, pallets, crates, lumber, windows, wire, and the list goes on. A guy gave me 200 drum lids, rings, bolts, o-rings a few months ago! NEW! I can store alot of stuff in my free drums with lids sealed tight. Look around folks, your SHTF supplies are at your feet!

  • Great vid man!

  • teacher maybe

  • The more of your videos I watch the less prepared I feel , It is a very overwhelming responsibility at times. Some of my family members still think I am a whacko for preparing at all . How do you go about finding others to join your group without disclosing sensative information ? I know it's just not something you want to bring up in casual conversation. Just wondering what your thoughts were .

  • I'm an RN with 70 acres in Oklahoma. We are working on solar & wind power for our energy. We live on a large body of water with good fishing, & we have tillable acres, and wooded acreage. We have a good sized orchard with apple, pear, peach & plum trees, & have put in grape vines for a small vineyard. I learned to can & dehydrate food, & will be starting a beehive for honey. This has been in the works for 2 years, but we have a small group of family that can survive.

  • You might add someone with language skills other then english. I would prefer the radio operator to do this or be given someone that can do that job with them. even train them to run the TX\RX station encase they get hurt or are pulled away. toss in some people with electronic engineering skills to repair all the china mart products. One reason I bought all my stuff from military auctions. emp hardened and made to last.

  • SP1- I would say that giving up the things we are accustomed to and dependant upon should go hand-in-hand with preparation. Switching to sustainable or user-servicable items, also

  • My wife and I have survival skills. We SHOULD have after preparing for 30 years! Now we are approaching 60 our abilities are becoming limited. We have retreats (several) but need younger folks who may not have the skills but are willing to learn in exchange for a place to live and a tutor.

  • I would add a cook, dentist, naughty nurse.

  • --handyPERSON, outdoorsPERSON--having renovated a house myself, I have alot of skills and tools, and it tooks brains and hands and eyes which are possessed by humans of both genders! I like the idea of having a chairperson rather than a "leader" as it will help keep bullies and thugs from taking over. We and the planet need WISDOM. The cross-training idea is very important too.

  • what branch was you in?

  • @zac030101 Army

  • @southernprepper1 hooah um do you think we'll run across some batteries to use during wrol if we run out of the batteries we stock up

  • @southernprepper1 hooah um do you think we'll run across some batteries to use during wrol if we run out of the batteries we stock up

  • @southernprepper1 marines here. wish i had nieghbors like you

  • i fill four of those.

  • OMG, at 7:02 there is a door squeek and I am home alone and thought the door squeek was my front door. I just checked out every door, room, shower and closet with weapon in hand and then realized that it might have been on the video. It was :) Oh well, good practice! I'm not usually that jumpy, but I knew that no one was here but myself.

  • @watuwaitn4 That was funny, but the squeak caught my attention also lol, glad everything was ok

  • Outstanding! Dave, you are providing info that it would be hard to put a price on! God Bless you, Sir. The way I describe you to people that I'm trying to get going is this: Southernprepper1 talks about stuff that other people won't talk about! I thought I was the only person counting calories as a way of calculating how many days food supply I have - I haven't talked to anyone who is prepping who is doing that...it only makes sense - anything less is a GUESS.

  • thank you please keep it up

  • thank you for sharing your knowledge.

  • be carefull with registered ham radio controllers, in ww/2 all ham comunications were bombed first, so find someone who just was a ham radio

  • My group is light on the com, but good to go on all the rest.

  • All of these facts may be true, but the question you want to ask yourself is, Do you want to only take care of yourself in a survival situation? or would you help others that actually mean something to you?

I know I would help my friends and family, because you can get farther on trust and protection than a man with a gun or with a set of skills.

  • @Tnate17 My family is onboard my parents and brother and sisters family and friends make up our group. So we have alot of skill sets to draw from. We will form a lighthouse in the community to help others and by doing this we will not be looked at as a resource for them to steal from. us.We will help when we can but we have to take care of our own house first.

  • @southernprepper1 That last sentence you said is exactly what America should be doing.

  • im a hunter, fisher, cook, non formal medical knowledge, outdoorsman, computer/electronic tech, and am highly able to work, i live in michigan. hit me up

  • Another excellent Video. Great way to prioritize the strengths of the group.

  • Great video. Many of these can be combined. Cross training is critical.

  • You say its best to have a group built out of this model in order to survive but I disagree in one aspect, the outdoorsmen can survive without the group so I think he should be top of the list. The group wont survive the first winter without him providing in those times of food shortage and shelter. It wouldnt hurt to have everyone learn a new language also, five star man great vid. subing. Parlusk told me about this channel, great stuff.

  • great subject...I'm disappointed that there are no lawyers in the group.. LOL

  • this is important stuff, great vid brother

  • ★★★★★

  • thumbs up dude

  • Another excellent video. Easy to say "Yeah, I know all this", but here Southern Prepper presents the basic info in an organized way. This way we can spot the gaps that WE have to fill. For example, I would like to see more on governance (how is strategy determined in the group; how are decisions implemented). I'd also like a mention of people who are able to care for children, the frail and those who are recovering from illness and injury (after they no longer need medical care).
