Fennecs are a pretty common exotic pet, they're not as wild as regular foxes, and they train a lot like a dog. You just need to have a lot of time at home.

In the wild fennec foxes do not live for very long due to predators or sickness, in a domesticated environment they live for longer. If you think about a fox is not really an exotic pet, i think its nice that it has a home with people who care for it. It will have a much longer and happier life:)

I'm fairly aware that most animals don't care for the romanticized vision of wildness and nature that humans love so much.

There are certain shelters/reserves full of pets (sometimes exotic) that people raise from infancy then suddenly abandon in the wild unable to fend for themselves because they think its "normal and natural" for them to be there when they reach adulthood.

As far as I know, you might need a license to keep one as a pet. They're prone to try digging everywhere, they can be restless, and if you give them the chance, they will very likely run away.

This is what I remember reading on Wikipedia a few months back. You'd need durable floors or carpets, and if you plan to take them out, either a harness or a fence stretching at least 3 feet underground so they cannot dig a hole and run away.

heres the thing....domesticated animals live longer then wild animals.....cats, dogs, some foxes.....as long as you give them a lot of room to run around in...and just plain TLC, they live longer....you have a furry friend to play around in....happy times =3

big animals however.....like lions and anything like that should stay in the wild...they know how to thrive in wild enviorments...and they hunt in a pride so they work together to survive...which is why i hate zoos.... nothing personal X3
