i m not a hunter, so curious why you wouldnt go for the head? is that so you can keep the trophy? or its harder to hit the head? or both? ;o)

It's hard to hit the head, but the main problem is that you'd need to hit the brain, if you hit the ear, or nose ;-) nothing would happen exept of unnececery pain for the animal. The brain is very small and you can't precisely tell where in the brain it is.

If you CAN hit the brain it's a lot better.

I'm looking into the nightforce scopes-but the high price is causing me to look elsewhere for possibles...how would this huskasomething scope compare to the NF? PS-I'm shooting handloaded .308(fnar)

@Jeenyus1983 the huskemaw 5-20 long range hunter is a great scope, however its 1200 dollars and a NF 5-22 scope i believe is a much better scope and its only a few hundred dollars more

shoot a 180 grain barnes triple shock at a 10mm steel plate at 500 yds and watch the outcome

Totally, 30-06 is a high powerful gun. It should take down any animal.

hi i dont know to much about rifles i was wanting something to use deer hunting in west virgia i got a 300wby it came with a scope iv been shooting it 2 boxs of ammo it shoots very good and there a little recolle but the muzzle break works good my 16 yr boy he realy like to shoot it j

A 300 is a good caliber
