The writers of Family guy figured that if they included a bunch of priests in a room that pronounced jesus wrong that they would get views based on shock value or some version of ludicrous humor of sorts. While the Simpsons did it they didn't overdo it and first and foremost it was succinct and actually was funny.

@williamtrevormcneil There's a joke to the Jebus thing. It actually does say Jebus in the bible. It's in the old testament (I believe it's judges but I would need to double check that) What they're prodding fun at here is how little people, even people of faith actually understand the bible.
